Brother David Lee

After living a life of sheer bondage, (including the effects of a rough childhood, a learning disability, and being plunged in addiction), David Lee endeavored to ?nd his freedom by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. When he didn’t ? nd his answer, the only option left was to try to reach God. Thanks to a Navy man, Petty Of?cer Pearson, while on board the USS Juneau, David experienced a miraculous conversion. Later, he found himself helplessly reverting to his old addiction. Following years of disastrous marriage, the tragic death of his younger brother, and unsuccessful help from a Christian recovery program, he was still bound. But instead of giving up hope, he prayed. As a result of many months of prayer, his answer ?nally came in the form of a true prayer warrior, a true friend and man of God. He taught and prayed in such an impacting way that it changed David’s life forever. Through the difficult road of repentance, and discipleship training, his marriage was fully restored, and he was completely set free and healed from his past addiction. Today, after years of weekly discipleship training and through a Christ-centered prayer life, Brother David Lee is considered a Disciple of Jesus Christ. He is also a family member of a discipleship group under Victory Ministries based in Western Colorado, under the leadership of Evangelist, Rev. Daniel Rubalcaba. This ministry is known for the miraculous power of God, and for God’s answer to prayer. Brother David is humbly blessed to be part of such an amazing group of people. David, his wife, and their two children live together in Western Colorado.

    Preface

The power and effectiveness of today’s church has been greatly diminished, and the repercussions throughout society have been tragic. A failure to disciple the redeemed of God is the root of the problem. To be known of God is salvation. To know God is discipleship. David Lee shares his journey in discipleship along with the precious knowledge he has gained along the way. The subject is Christ’s discipleship, and it is as deep as God Himself.

    –Rev. Daniel Rubalcaba

Life as we have known it is about to change. God did not bring us through this journey of life for nothing. Men and women of God, warriors of Christ and maidens of the piercing Light, stand to your feet. For those willing to face the challenge, as we step beyond religious routine, taking up our wooden cross-beams, let’s charge forward! It’s time to become who we were born to be: Disciples of Jesus Christ!

    –Brother David Lee

    Introduction

Currently, there is a great desperation and a deep hunger for the living gospel of Jesus Christ to move actively in our lives as never before. As followers of Christ, all of us need that fresh revelation from the living Word of God. The Sword of the King of Kings was written purely from life experience in applied Biblical fundamentals through the teachings of Jesus Christ, and its purpose is to reignite the excitement of the fire of God in you. This course of discipleship is for everyone who is hungry for a personal reviving of oneness with the living God.

Many people struggle in dealing with their families, facing issues in life, or facing God in a tangibly realistic and personal way. Today, true peace is lacking in nearly every Christian home across our nation. As you apply these basic principles of Christ in your life, principles that have literally changed my life, you will experience the explosive love of God. I believe that within these pages you will find the answers that will give you true peace as the intimate presence of Christ increases in your life. My expectation is that the direct impact of this course will change your life.

Through many hours of prayer, The Sword of the King of Kings was written with tears. After receiving a clear command from the Lord to write, followed by specific confirmation, I began to ask God for revelation and clarity. Tearfully, I besought the Lord to write His message into the depths of my heart. Jesus Christ is the teacher, and these words flow as an expression of His passionate love and concern for our lives. Through the foundation of prayer, you too can personally receive a most challenging, healing, and fulfilling experience with God. As you endure this impacting quest, your only responsibility is to receive and participate.

    Heart of the Discipleship

Beside the encouragement and patience of my precious wife, Kyla, one more person is granted credit for much of the content of this transcript—Evangelist, Rev. Daniel Rubalcaba. This man of God has faithfully proclaimed the fundamentals of the discipleship of Jesus Christ and has passionately maintained the validity and truth of God’s Word. Devotedly, he has served God as he continued in Christ’s commission of making true Disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19), and I am greatly humbled to be known as one of them. Words cannot fully express the love, and great sacrifice he and his family have lived out before my eyes. I am a witness, student, and spiritual son of this most honorable man of God. This transcript would never have been written if God had not placed me into Brother Daniel’s life. It was because of Christ in him that my life was impacted and forever changed. May he be honored greatly in this work.

Even as I applied these teachings of Christ into my own life, I have experienced freedom from virtually every hindrance that multitudes of Christians are currently facing. From temptation to addiction, from family struggles to family crisis, even for those married or single: this course of discipleship can potentially impact your life no matter what your position or struggle may be.

    Before You Read…

† Prayer reminders: Through this course, it is imperative to spend time in prayer each day before you read. This training course will only increase in its challenges, and you will need God’s support as you advance. Every chapter should begin and end in prayer. At the end of each chapter is a written prayer that you are invited to pray personally. These prayers will give you the chance to receive and apply the primary goal of each chapter.

If you’re a speedy reader, I encourage you to take your time in journeying through this challenging experience. This course is not intended as an overnighter, so take it easy and be sure to chew before you swallow. Steak simply doesn’t go down as milk. As Christ’s original Disciples learned, many of His teachings aren’t always easy. If you read something that’s difficult to grasp, stop and pray (Proverbs 3:5). Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you concerning the subject, then be receptive to His gentle answer (James 3:17).

Here are three important points to remember as you progress through this journey of discipleship.

    1.   Through this course, you’ll discover that the honorable title of Disciple means more than fulfilling the responsibilities of a weekend warrior. Throughout this transcript, the term discipleship is used to describe the followership of Christ’s teachings and is intended to refocus and more clearly define the call Jesus offers us as His dedicated followers. Christ’s calling for us is to become His Disciples (Matthew 16:24–25, Luke 14:33).

You may notice a select few words were [added] or [exchanged] in some of the quoted scripture inserts. Each change was made with the full intention to preserve the defined message of the original Holy Scriptures in conjunction with today’s English language, to minimize any possible confusion or misunderstanding between the reader and the written 1611 A.D. English language of the KJV Bible.

Each exchanged word has been weighed to correspond, and agree with, the best definitions of James Strong’s dictionaries: The New Strong’s Expanded Dictionary of the Words in the Hebrew Bible and The New Strong’s Expanded Dictionary of the Words in the Greek New Testament. Both dictionaries are in back of The New Strong’s Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, by James Strong, LL.D., S.T.D.

    2.   Please locate your Bible and have it handy. At certain times, you may want to refer to the available Scripture references throughout these pages. All key Scripture references will have an asterisk (*) next to them. These are especially important verses to explore during your personal study.

Important Note: At certain times (in chapters one and three), you will notice a small number. These numbers (example⁵A) are Scripture verse referral numbers (Ref. numbers). These numbers will guide you to their specific Scripture references. To locate a Scripture reference, simply turn to the Chapter Directory and locate the Ref. number next to its Scripture verse(s). This is intended to save space and will give you the freedom to study as deeply or gently as you prefer, according to your personal needs.

Each quoted insert of the Holy Bible is written from the translation of the King James Version Bible (KJV). This Bible translation was selected for two reasons: its historical value and its accuracy in relation with the original text. However, feel free to refer to your favorite version of the Holy Bible. Each Scripture reference is an important treasure holding valuable information. Much time and effort was spent to provide these treasures in order to maintain the integrity of the Biblical foundation and so your personal exploration will have deeper meaning as you move deeper with Christ through this course of discipleship and through the written Word of God.

    3.   As you read, remember, God is good and His love is absolute. His intention is to reinvade our hearts, our lives, our homes, and every area of our lives. He intends to bring healing, restoration, forgiveness, wholeness, and to deliver us from the struggles we have lived with long enough (Luke 4:18). Now be prepared, because your life is about to become more real, more purposeful, more joyful, and truly victorious as you apply these refining principles of Christ’s discipleship into your life.

    May God bless you,

    Brother David Lee

    The 23rd Psalm

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with
