Why Poetry?

This second collection of paranormal poetry is released almost ten years after the first collection, Vampire Tears. I adore poetry and have fond memories of reading poets I first discovered in my youth with the Romantics (William Wordsworth, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Samuel Coleridge) and later with William Butler Yeats and T.S. Elliot. One of the most profound poems I can still recite is Leda and the Swan by Yeats. For me, poetry is where I learned to seek out your imagination and listen to it.

Many of these poems are written in the style of free verse poetry. Free verse is an open form of poetry. It does not use consistent meter patterns, rhyme, or any other musical pattern. I think of it as song lyrics really, without the music. Thus free verse tends to follow the rhythm of natural speech. Please note a few flash fictions may be added to this collection as well.

You’ll notice too that the punctuation in the poems is free, and not defined exactly by grammatical rules. As
