walls, a little silence; the usurer man comes from the back door, hesitates a little,
sits down on an old leather chair, gently touches the ancient statue, then gets up,
and looks at the house with longing]
Marvast:
That's enough, that's enough
[The Servant comes to the room, takes a look, and leaves, then Pasha comes and
stands on the door frame; Marvast is still stunned by the painting, who suddenly
goes back]
Pasha:
What again?
Marvast:
My dear Pasha, I just wanted to visit with Mr. Baharmast and that's it
[laughs and opens his hands]
That's all
Mina:
What do you want from this house again?
Marvast:
[holding up the statue with fascination and looking at it in light]
Nothing
[picks up the old statue and goes to the door]
Nothing
Pasha:
I have heard the news of your threats
[grabs statue from behind]
None of this is for sale anymore, no mortgage, no collateral
[shouts]
No
Marvast:
[turns his head]
Sincerely, Mr. Pasha, whatever you order
Mina:
[shyly]
What price do you offer for this old painting?
Pasha:
[goes towards her angrily]
Mina
[The sister moves away in fear]
There is Nothing to sell or pawn anymore
Marvast:
There is no need for these words at all. There is no need for war.
Because I personally have a special devotion to your old and well-known family; I
have been able to serve this family for many years
you realized that
You yourselves have witnessed
For years
[brings his head closer]
I will never let you be without money.
I will pay at least the cost of your trip and have fun in Europe
for a whole month in cash.
[takes out a checkbook]
Shall I write you a check for a large amount?
Pasha:
[hesitating]
You threatened to put me in jail for Unpaid checks
Marvast:
It is a lie, just a lie
[bows]
I respect each and every member of your family.
[whispers]
There is also a new investment proposal for your Father, which I promise you, if you
support it, I will pay you any amount you want.
[shakes the bank check]
Mina:
[Looks out of the window]
You and a few people like you gradually took Everything from our family; all that
property and land inherited over the years disappeared.
Marvast:
[turns his head, with a fearful and decisive tone]
Shall I write a check?
Mr. Pasha
Mina:
[She goes to the side of the picture again and gently touches it]
For... for the mortgage and loan and pledge of this old oil painting
[reads the signature hard]
How much do you pay for a portrait by Master Kamal al-Mulk?
Pasha:
[Hesitant and furious]
Nothing goes out of the house
[Marvast gets up, picks up the statue from the table, and goes to the door]
Mina:
Pasha
Pasha:
Where are you going to take it?
[He takes the statue
