What is Your Trauma?
Many of us are dealing with past unhealed traumas on a daily basis and do not even realize it. Many of us have traumas that began as a child.
How do you know if you are dealing with trauma?
Trauma is when you experience an event in your life that was displeasing to you emotionally, mentally or physically. That event continues to exist and has an impact on your life later on.
Trauma is how you feel inside as a result of what happened to you. It is the emotion from the event that made you feel unwanted, not good enough, abandoned, or unlovable for example.
Trauma gets embedded into your brain as an emotional memory and then it is triggered when anything resembles it and shows up in your life.
In order for a person to be triggered, there must be something inside of them that is already unhealed. Their actions and their behaviors will always be the first clear indicator of it.
If you do not trust people or are easily hurt, it is your brain’s natural reaction that shows that you were either possibly hurt a lot as a child, disappointed or betrayed.
Depression is a coping mechanism your brain has taught you to depress
, which means to push down your emotions.
When you have trauma, you simply develop coping mechanisms that your brain has taught you to survive.
Your brain will develop a method to operate in the reality that you create.
Once you acknowledge what happened to you, how it made you feel, and recognize that it is not happening to you right now, that is when you will begin your healing journey and God will continue to heal and shape you into the person you were always meant to be.
