About this ebook

Is Three a Crowd? is an adventure story about a trio of characters who have been bosom buddies since grade school and have come under the sovereign hand of God to be used to save the world. Their lives begin in Boston and move on to Atlanta, Georgia, and then to Florida and finally to Belize, as their life destiny unfolds. None of the three ever imagined what God had in store for them, nor the trials and tribulations that the calling upon their lives would include. The answer to the book title is revealed in the last chapter of book 1. Book 2, 3, and 4 moves on to the rain forest and then to Ukraine and ending in deepest Africa, where God's plan to rescue the world through them, and a cast of quite a few more characters, is consummated. One's faith in miracles and the basic love of God for everyone is energized and illuminated by this entire series.

    Chapter 1

    The Three Musketeers

Iwas sitting in a subway car, staring across the aisle, out the window. Fortunately, there was no one in the seat across from me, as they would have probably been offended, thinking I was some crazy freak or something. Actually, I was seeing nothing through the window, as my thoughts were totally centered upon the scene in my mind. That scene was bringing intermittent smiles, frowns, tears, and even laughter. The daydream involved my wife, Kerrie, and her best girlfriend, Grace E.

We had been living in Atlanta for about twenty years. Neither Kerrie nor I were from the South but fell in love with the Southern culture upon visiting an old college roommate here a few years ago. We both were from Boston and honestly haven't missed it at all.

Once you get away from the North, you realize how much you didn't like it. No matter what Northern city you have lived in, you realize how ill-mannered and mean that the Northern residents are. I keep telling Kerrie that it is the way we were while living there. We were the same mean people that we despise now. She just smiles, which means yes, in her language. I refer to her language because she is deaf, which she acquired from terrible ear infections at age two. She gets along fine because she is so very intelligent, which is probably the reason I married her. I really have to admit that I loved her mind more than the rest of her. The things that she comes up with about any subject spoken of just blow me away. She has so many facts in her mind that I often refer to her as Ms. Google. I also call her Siri when I am looking for an answer to some intellectual question that is far from my limited database. I am not dumb, but my IQ is about a hundred points lower than Kerrie. Honestly, I am the type that is good at what I do, and I have a lot of common sense and have always been a follower but never a smart leader. That is why I have always done well in my profession, as my supervisors could always depend upon me to carry out their plans and instructions.

By the way, my name is John. Yeah, plain ole John, reliable but not someone who you will see in the news or on the most famous American list.

As for Grace E., who I mentioned is Kerrie's BFF, she is almost totally opposite of both Kerrie and I. I assume that is the attraction between all three of us. Grace E. is weird, although also very intelligent. Her mother must have been a little weird too, as she gave her the name Grace E. rather than simple Gracie with an ie at the end, as is Kerrie's name. She was named after Gracie Allen of the Burns and Allen comedian duo.

Although funny, Grace E. is no comedian, but her weirdness does come across as funny in an entertaining way. I often kidded her about the E at the end of her name as standing for entertainer. She actually seemed to like that attribution; maybe she did desire to be an entertainer. I will say that she did entertain me in our last year of high school and the first year of college. And that is essentially what this book is about.

All three of us are in our early forties but have been friends since the seventh grade of middle school, in the suburbs of Boston. Back then, we went through sixth grade in different grade schools all around the town,
