Hi Everyone, My name is Juliet Atherton and I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. I am Australian born and bred, but I have traveled extensively throughout my life, particularly in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the USA. I have always loved writing but my foray into e-books here on Smashwords is my first time publishing anything. I like to write in a variety of genres, but I think choosing an absolute favourite would be a difficult task as I enjoy both reading and writing so much and there are so many different avenues to explore. Let's just put it this way, I may come out with anything from poetry to drama and all things in between. I hope you enjoy my work. It is a labor of love for me and I would like it to be a fun and interesting experience for you. Please review my efforts after reading if you would like to do so, and come back to my page often to check for updates. I will do my best to publish work of a high standard which will appeal to a large cross section of the e-book community. Look forward to seeing you here again. Also, please visit my Facebook page by following the link and say 'hi'. Cheers. Juliet.

Chapter 1
According to my mother, who is the meticulous record keeper in our family, I was born at 4.35pm in the labor ward of the Franklin Maternity Hospital on a bitterly cold January afternoon.
Apparently, when my parents were choosing baby names they decided if the baby was a girl, she would be named ‘Cassandra’ (after my mother’s best friend) and then ‘Grace’, which was my paternal grandmother’s name. It is a rare event that I’m actually called ‘Cassandra’, usually it’s ‘Sandy’, which suits me better anyway. My friends all call me Sandy and so does my husband of fifteen years, Roger. I usually only get the full name when someone is annoyed with me or, occasionally, at work by my boss, Mr. Anderson, who is younger than me and half as experienced.
Anderson’s a pain in the neck most of the time, but we can deal with him by pretending to listen to his boring speeches at staff meetings and nodding and smiling in all the right places. The trouble is his grandfather founded the firm so he is employed as manager there more because of nepotism than any actual talent.
If you’re wondering what I do for a living, I work in advertising. It is my job, along with several other people, to come up with radio and television advertising for new products. It’s a lot more demanding than it might sound. Clients often want you to have a ready-to-go campaign a day or two after the initial briefing. Naturally, this is impossible, but getting them to believe that is an uphill battle. Thankfully, we have our regulars who are not pushy and give us the time we need to give them what they want. Our firm is relatively small, with thirty-four staff members, fifteen of which work in the same department as me. The difference is that I’m in charge. My official title is Chief Executive in charge of Advertising, which sounds very impressive but, in reality, it really means that the buck stops with me and I get the blame for any screw ups which might happen along the way.
I have two children; a thirteen-year-old daughter who has just discovered boys and could cause me to have a nervous breakdown at any moment, and an eight-year-old son who is every parent’s dream. Hard working at school, a clean and tidy bedroom and who eats whatever is put in front of him without screwing up his nose.
My husband works as an English teacher at the very prestigious St. Francis Academy for boys. He loves it there and he earns well, so we are lucky enough to have a lovely home in a good suburb. Franklin, Nebraska is just right for our family. We moved from New York, where we had both lived and worked, when our daughter, Sarah, was three as we wanted our lives to move at a less frenetic pace and we have not looked back since. It was my decision to come here,
