Motherhood, an often taken for granted role (I should know because I am a mother of four) is a very well documented and celebrated role in the Bible. Many illustrations can be found of mothers who influenced their children to excel and to mention a few Eve, the first mother; Sarah, the mother of many nations; Jochebed, the mother of Moses the man with whom God spoke face to face; king mothers of note such as the acclaimed Proverbs 31 King Lemuel’s mother who is credited with the words of wisdom in this proverb; King Solomon’s mother, who influenced her son’s coronation; also Salome the mother of James and John, the disciples of Jesus, who petitioned Jesus to secure for them seats by Him in His kingdom; and Mary, Jesus’ mother, who stood by her son to the end of His ministry.
