CHAPTER 1
Ten-year-old Aunewu stood in disbelief as he looked over the vast terrain of his homeland in Africa. He was overwhelmed with anxiety and awe at the same moment. Aunewu wondered why he was chosen and gifted with this vision and words. The World seemed upside down to him. A global pandemic, territorial wars, famine, climate change, an array of elders with their words of the World at change, and animal extinction, let alone his own family’s destitution of their animal’s livelihood. The World seemed impossible to fathom even at his young age, but he understood. Yet he had this vision and these words—why? What was he supposed to do as a youth in his society with such a message?
Aunewu gathered his staff, herd canines, and water and began to lead his herd back toward the paddock. He knew this message was of utmost importance, yet how would he present the information, and who was to believe him? When the livestock entrusted to his care was secured, he knew he had to speak up. With courage and determination, Aunewu began a short journey on foot to the respected elders’ daily gathering place. His trusty canines went with him along the way. Aunewu glanced over at the canines and the vast terrain around him. His home was here, his family, his kinship to friends, livestock, and gardens of families he knew so well. Did the vision mean he would have to travel outside the territory? The anxiety began to well upon him again. Aunewu attempted to shake the dread, the thoughts, and the overwhelming feeling of wanting to run free from anxiety.
He arrived at the gathering place, and Aunewu stood silent as he knew disruption to the elders speaking was not permissible. An elder spotted Aunewu and squinted with one eye. Aunewu began to tremble. The elder then smiled and, in their native tongue, said for Aunewu to approach the group. One person standing along a side wall straightened his back from the wall, terror stretched across the face of Aunewu’s father, Augustin. Aunewu felt as though his legs were not part of his body when his shoulders launched him forward, and his legs had to catch him from falling. The elder who spoke to Aunewu was Simounte, a great- grandelder to his family whose age was over one hundred years. Aunewu found his bearings and walked past his father to stand nearby Simounte. The elders were in disbelief that the young boy was not tending to the family’s livestock as required, and murmurs were heard. Simounte appeared to understand the boy’s intention. With the thump of the staff in his hand, the elders quieted. Simounte gave a hardy gesture that all was well; the boy had received a message.
Aunewu stood in disbelief. How did this one elder know, understand, and have no fear? Simounte gestured to the boy with a reassured smile, and the nerves Aunewu felt welling inside him seemed to dissipate. Simounte granted the boy a chance to speak, but Aunewu was hesitant. With a glance toward his father, who stood with a discerning look upon his face, he then glanced at Simounte. In the elder, he saw a calmness that reassured him. With what seemed to be no saliva in his mouth or voice in his throat, Aunewu stumbled with words in desperation to explain why he had entered the gathering. As the words began to tumble from his lips, he gained confidence with the reassured look upon the elders’ faces. His backbone began to strengthen, his legs stopped quivering, and the hair standing on end throughout his body relaxed. Aunewu offered what he had experienced.
The vision was revealed that the World could be changed. The resolution was in the citizens of the World’s hands. How could this be managed, as the World was a huge planet? The vision revealed the intent of the citizens to gather as one force. To complement the efforts, the Ascended Masters would be aiding. A select few of the citizens around the World would receive the same vision, the same message. Which of these citizens would this be? Only the ones appointed from the spirits with like-minded thoughts, consciousness, actions, and deliberate intention. The group of elders remained still, almost unfazed by this revolution. Murmurs had begun slowly and quietly among the younger men in attendance. Upon the signal from Simounte, an elder to his right rose, positioned himself alongside Simounte, and aided him to his feet. Simounte walked with aid toward Aunewu and placed his hands upon Anuewu’s shoulders as he gave a tight squeeze. Simounte turned toward the others gathered and, in their native tongue, recited the holiest of all words spoken: Amen.
Augustin was astonished by what he had heard his son recite for the vision and words given to him as a message. What was a father to do with a son such as this boy? Surely Aunewu made the whole event up in his head, and Simounte seemed as though to be honoring the boy. Simounte gestured for his staff; upon placement into his hand, he gestured for Augustin to come close to him. Augustin seemed frozen, unable to move his body toward the elder he gave respect. Slowly Augustin’s muscles understood what his brain appointed and moved toward Simounte.
Feeling in a daze, Augustin realized the elder held his son in high regard. With the stomp of Simounte’s staff, the other elders began to rise and form an impenetrable circle around the three men. The circle symbolized unity within the people’s tribe. A validation that stood for: Let no person penetrate and cause harm.
Augustin had seen this only once during his lifetime. A tribal person returned from a journey with a message for a group of elders. The person was honored with a feast and night of rest prior to their departure. Would this be the same for his son, was his son to leave the land known as his home, his family, his tribe of like-minded people?
With another gesture of Simounte’s hand, the group broke the circle and slowly left the gathering area. The three of them stood together. Aunewu, unsure of his place, now lowered his eyes toward the ground. Simounte smiled a large grin, placed his finger upon the boy’s chin, and tilted Aunewu’s head toward his gaze. Simounte gestured all three should be seated. With aid from Augustin, Simounte was lowered toward a pile of pillows. Aunewu knew to kneel and bow before his great-grandelder. With a laugh, Simounte stated to Aunewu that it was not he granted such a grand vision and honorable words. Yet, it was he who was in awe of Aunewu and wished he was of the sound body to kneel and bow before Aunewu.
Both Augustin and Aunewu were astonished. The pair did not realize the volume in which this vision and words bestowed upon Aunewu. Simounte gestured first for Augustin to voice his concerns. Since nothing of this size had ever taken place for Aunewu, Augustin was mystified by what this meant for his son. Simounte gestured toward Aunewu to voice his concerns. Aunewu stammered out slowly the words. Does this mean he has to leave his home, his family, the family’s animals, and his friends? Leave his territory, which he was entrusted to love, honor, and aid in its growth with nutrients for the inhabitants.
With a gentle tussle of Aunewu’s hair from Simounte, as the boy’s eyes bore a hole into the ground of the gathering area, Simounte chuckled. He told them both he had never received such a message and that the ground they were about to walk upon would be new ground. Simounte made no promises of Aunewu not having to leave his homeland, yet if Aunewu
