We walked inside, Easton sat his bag down on the bench in the entryway of our house and sighed. Should we address the elephant in the room?
I knew what he was getting at but having already put my heart on the line while simultaneously inserting a size twelve foot in my mouth, I wanted to avoid the crushing blow I fully expected and instead chose to play dumb. Sex?
I asked, suggestively wiggling my brows.
As frustrating as you are, I can’t deny how much I missed you, smart ass,
Easton smugly admitted.
He stepped forward, instinctively my arms snaked around his waist and pulled him against me. Whenever Easton was near, the voices inside my head settled. His presence was my happy place, my Zen, my forever. I could live anywhere in the world but without Easton, no place would ever be a home. Yeah, but I’m your smart ass.
And we’re back to the elephant.
Having failed once again, at my attempted diversion that was, my arms fell to my sides, and I walked away. I went into the kitchen, grabbed a glass out of the cupboard and filled it with water, then drained half just as fast as it had filled. There was no way to avoid this conversation, much as my dumbass would like to. Take it like a man, Ethan. The voice in my head commanded, sounding much like my sperm donor. Fuck that guy! I sat the glass down, took a deep breath, and proceeded to admit defeat. Where was the white flag when I needed to wave it? Look, the only thing I regret about my proposal was the location and execution, but not the act itself.
