I dedicate my first published book to my Papa and my Mom. These two were the first people to listen to me read in front of an audience, and they are always rooting for me. Not to mention they are two of my favorite people in the whole wide world.
Thank you, my first and biggest supporters.

Judgement Day
Up and down, up and down, up and down. There’s a roller coaster rummaging behind my bedroom door. My buckle is strapped tightly to my gut. Though I am ready to ride the roller coaster each day, the major jerks and downhill jolts only happen in the privacy behind my bedroom door. Each time the roller coaster goes up. It goes through the window and up to the sky for all to see. My neighbors can see my smile glistening in the sun as I scream with such happiness and gratitude that I get to experience this ride, right here and right now. I wave to my parents as the roller coaster swirls me in the air like a leaf blowing in the wind. When I go up in the roller coaster I am so close to the sun that I become sunshine. I love being up. And then that’s when the roller coaster tips and treks down, smashing into my house and slamming my bedroom door shut. It spins in a small circle over and over. My blinds aren’t open and there’s no sunlight anymore. My smile fractures to a frown while I grip the handles in front of me.
