About this ebook

The third volume in our B-36 series that focuses on the multiyear project where a small group of dedicated men dismantled, moved and reassembled...twice...the last Consolidated B-36 ever built. These photos not only show how it was done, but provide limitless vignette and diorama ideas for the modelbuilder. This installment shows the separation of the fuselage sections from the wing, removal of the tail assembly from the aft fuselage and transportation of the props to the new museum site just south of the General Dynamics (now Lockheed) main gate. If you have a passion for the B-36, this E-book series is a must for your B-36 library. Photos were taken mostly on black-and-white film and occasionally color transparencies with a variety of cameras and film types. Those factors, combined with the age of the negatives, weather conditions when the photos were taken and more, results in the quality of the images varying. You will find photos here that are...frankly...lousy, but they've been included for the one piece of information you may find valuable. That said, all images have been optimized to the extent possible with the historian and modelbuilder in mind.

The Marmo Method Modelbuilding Guide Series #21 - Richard Marmo

A group of loyal and stubborn volunteers spent thirty-five years rescuing the last Consolidated B-36 Peacemaker ever built from the ravages of time and vandals. I was the group's official photographer for the first fourteen or so years of the rescue effort, so most of the photos in this...and subsequent...volumes are mine. Don Pyeatt, Frank Stephenson, Ed Calvert, Caesar 'Jack' Marmo and many others took numerous photos as well and some of their photos will also be found here. No one person could be everywhere all the time and without their photos this reference series would have been less complete. That also results in a number of nearly identical images being included, basically side by side. I make no apologies for this since certain details can be clearer in one shot than the other.

They have been cropped and adjusted in Corel PaintShop Pro 2018. Each large image has been resized so that they will print to 8 x 10 where feasible...which is most of them. However, the quality of the larger prints will vary depending on the paper you print them on. Obviously, actual photo paper will provide better results than the various grades of copy paper.
