About this ebook

Ancient Egypt. XIV century BC. Pharaoh Amenhotep III rules Egypt (Ta-Kemet). Fearing a conspiracy, he decides to move the capital of the kingdom from Memphis (Inebu-Hedj) to Avaris (Hut-Waret). He entrusts the construction of the royal palace in Avaris to his eldest son and heir Thutmose. The young prince finds the ruins of the legendary Behdet, in which the solar-like Ra once ruled. More precisely, he finds the ruins of the Basalt Palace, which was the Abode of the Gods in ancient times.
Thutmose comprehends ancient secrets with the help of the ‘The Book of Gateways’ and he sees the distant past. The priests proclaim him to be the living incarnation of Horus, the God of Light. Thutmose is at the pinnacle of glory. The priests give him the Golden Armor of Horus and the Ark of Might. This is the weapon of the divine Ra, with the help of which Osiris was avenged many centuries ago and the insidious Set was destroyed. The heir to the throne cannot even imagine how much these sacred artifacts can drastically change his life and influence the course of further events.

    Chapter 9

Returning from the office to his chambers, Amenhotep took an aromatic bath and reclined on the couch with pleasure. Sleep, however, did not come for a long time: the events, memories and doubts of the last days interfered.

A curtain of the finest white cotton separated his bed from the rest of the room. At the feet, right on the floor, there were two servants, ready to immediately fulfill any command of their Sun-like master. As the night had turned out to be stuffy, two young Nubians stood at the head of the bed, fanning the pharaoh with magnificent fans of ostrich feathers.

Suddenly the door of the chambers opened, and Amenhotep felt the gentle and exciting aroma of perfume. He guessed: the girl sent by Tiye entered. From time to time, his wife ‘rewarded’ him with some beauty-girl from her retinue so that the pharaoh spent the night with her. As a wise and insightful woman, Tiye immediately realized that after the meeting of the state council, her divine husband was in a bad mood, so she decided to refrain from personally visiting his bedroom for the time being

Today the queen sent Itmos instead of herself, one of the most charming girls in her retinue. Itmos was indeed so good that even the pharaoh himself had already thought of taking her as a concubine more than once, but for some reason he did not dare. Probably because he still loved Tiye and preferred her to all others, even if they were younger and more beautiful women.

Tiye, well aware that, according to her status, her Sun-like husband has the right to have as many concubines as he wants, she wisely tried not to be jealous of anyone. However, Amenhotep himself, we must give him his due, throughout his married life did not abuse this right.

When the first sounds of the gentle tinkling of anklets reached the pharaoh's ears, he had not yet decided whether he wanted to spend the night in the company of a young seductress or not. However, after some thought, he suggested that she come closer to the bed.

The snow-white canopy immediately leaned aside, and the inimitable Itmos appeared before the eyes of Amenhotep.

I am at your service, oh my lord! the girl said modestly, kneeling before the bed.

Amenhotep breathed in the scent of perfume emanating from her hair with pleasure.

Did you come alone? he suddenly asked, unexpectedly even to himself.

Oh yes, Sun-like lord. But if you order, I will bring here beautiful Hittite dancers with musicians. We will entertain you, o, Divine lord, and you will forget all your sorrows! We will delight your ears with singing, and we will delight your body with endless caresses.

Itmos' voice sounded so melodious and soothing that Amenhotep again, unexpectedly for himself, nodded in agreement and exhaled briefly:

    Bring them in!

Itmos quickly got up from her knees and disappeared behind a snow-white cotton curtain.

A few minutes later, music, enthusiastic laughter and exclamations of the pharaoh filled with inexpressible happiness reached the ears of the Medjays guarding the chambers of the pharaoh.
