To our Lord, Jesus Christ, who has made all things possible in my life.
Also, to my children.
Hello, I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it, and I hope the testimonies in this book will make a difference in your life.
Well, we know, being a believer in God, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that whoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life
(John 3:16). We know how God showed his wonderful love for us by sending Jesus to save us.
Have you ever wondered what does God want from us? Well, many years ago, I found myself wondering. I found myself asking God, What is it what do I need to do? What is it you want from me?
I'm sure many people have asked these questions, and I'm sure that there are many people that do know what God wants from them. But there are many people that don't. Well, for me, over the years of walking with God, I found out that God really loves us, and he really wants us to love him. He wants us to love each other and help one another. He wants us to have a personal relationship with him. He wants us to really know him. He just doesn't want to be our Heavenly Father; he also wants to be our friend. And not just when we go to church on Sunday. God wants to be our friend every day. He wants us to talk to him about what's going in our life, not when we have a problem but every day. God wants to help us in our everyday life because he really wants us to know him. And this is how you develop a personal relationship with God. Also, God wants us to trust him and believe in him.
Trusting and believing is very important in our relationship with God because believing and trusting is what moves the power of God. This is called faith. Without faith and believing and trusting, not too much will happen. This is why God will sometimes allow certain circumstances to enter our life: so that we can see that we can trust him. Also, it makes our faith stronger. We grow closer to God by trusting and believing in him and talking to him. God really wants us to be happy, not worried. He wants us to depend on him for all our needs. God knows what each and every one of us needs, and God also knows our hearts. That is why when you pray, you should pray from the heart, because God wants heartfelt prayer. Also, be sincere when you pray because I learned that praying to God from my heart and being truthful and sincere as I can be really moves God. It touches God, and I believe your prayers are answered more. I also believe that respectful, sincere heartfelt prayer is the prayer that God wants to hear. I know this. How? From experiencing it over the years. I have talked to people about God and listened to some of the things that they say to God, and I can't believe my ears.
The thing we say out of our mouths comes from the heart
(Matt. 15:18). And God knows our hearts. I have had people tell me that if you go to church, then you don't have to pray. How misguided is that. We should pray every day. It hurts my heart to find out just how misguided people are about God. What we need to do is open our hearts and let God in so he can change our hearts, because when our hearts changes, so do our minds. And that's what needs to happen. We really can't change ourselves, but God can. All we need to do is talk to God about ourselves—about our pain, about our thoughts, about how we feel, what bothers us, what struggles we have, what we can't stop doing but is trying to. Tell God your secrets. There is nothing that you can say to God that he doesn't already know about you. He knows everything that there is to know about you. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Open your heart to God. Your life will change. Your life will never be the same. God really wants to help us. God is our helper all day long if we let him be our helper. Some people think that God is just for the big problems in their life. Not true. God is our helper for all things, big or small.
One day I was getting ready to do laundry. I loaded the washer. It was a heavy load, full of blue jeans, so I started the washer. It filled up and started to spin around. Then it stopped. So I poke and push the clothes around. Then I restarted the washer, but nothing happened. It was making noises but wasn't doing anything, so I just went and sat on the stairs and started to cry. I had already had a challenging week, and this was all I needed. I thought about calling a repairman, but my finances didn't look to good for that. I really need to get some laundry done, so I started pouring my heart out to God about my situation. I had started to cry again, then I caught myself and said, Oh Lord, I am so sorry for sitting here crying to you about my washer when I know you have so many more important things to do than listening to me cry about my washer.
That is how I really felt. I felt that God had more important things to do. While I was sitting there, a very strange feeling came over me. I stood straight up, went over to my washer, put my hand down into the washer, and grasped hold of the agitator and pulled the whole washtub up. Then I heard it latch all the way around the washer. Now remember that this washer was full of water and heavy blue jeans. I was standing there in shock, wondering what happened because I really didn't know. I started the washer back up, and it washed and washed and kept washing. I was so happy. I sat back down on the stairs, and before I could say anything, I heard the Lord say to me, My child, don't you ever think that I am too busy to help you with even the smallest thing in your life.
I just started to cry, thanking the Lord for his care and love. That stayed with me for days.
I still couldn't believe that it happened, but this is what I understood about it: God knew that what I said to
