CHAPTER ONE

Lyric Gray strolled through the entrance of the Bane family estate, her heart swelling with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation. The annual Easter celebration on the Bane Estate was in full swing, filling the air with laughter and music. Families and children, clutching brightly colored baskets, joyfully scampered across the lush grounds in search of Easter eggs.

The community of Bane Ridge had blossomed since Lyric and Damian Bane had last spent time there. They had been inseparable during their college years. The estate had been their sanctuary, where they could escape the world and dive into each other’s arms. Jackson, one of Damian’s many brothers, had always ensured they weren’t disturbed.

She stood in the grand hallway of one of several mansions on the sprawling property, her heart racing. It seemed as if time had stopped, and she was back in that moment when her world had revolved around Damian.

She remembered those long summer nights when they would lie in each other’s arms, making love everywhere—under the full moon, in the first unoccupied room they reached, even in his father’s home office.

But much had changed since then; Lyric had gone on to marry John Gray. Damian had married Jenny Thomson, a wealthy heiress. As Lyric looked around, she saw countless reminders of what could have been had she been more daring.

Everywhere she looked, there were reminders of all she had lost when she had walked away from the life Damian offered. Yet, now, she felt the burden of the memories of their past love, which lingered everywhere.

For a brief moment, Lyric questioned her decision to come. But she had been feeling lonely and desperate for companionship since her divorce four years earlier. Even before she left John, she had long since started reminiscing about the five lusty years she’d spent with Damian. So when the invitation from Jackson, Damian’s twin brother, arrived, a sudden longing to see Damian again overwhelmed her. And she couldn’t stay away.

She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to find a tall, handsome male with dark hair and gray eyes standing behind her, with a warm smile. It was the face of the man she had once loved but never forgotten. Or, in this case, the looks he shared with Damian.
