Introduction

​Welcome to this 7-week journey of discovering Authentic Love. It is my deepest desire that every individual who encounters this study finds a deeper understanding of themselves and the heart of God.

​Each week has one chapter study that will give you information to consider, meditate on, ask yourself questions, pray, and converse with God about. This process is designed to bring you closer to God’s heart. In each chapter, you will find scriptures from the Holy Bible that, unless otherwise noted, all come from the English Standard Version.

​You’ll notice that there isn’t a general routine or structure. Some weeks differ from others in the method of study.  This is to encourage and prepare you to study on your own in more depth. Not all of the scripture will be written out and opportunity is abundant to grow closer to understanding God. What you will find written in this study is a glimpse of God’s heart through scripture that is primarily focused on His Authentic Love: What love is, how to receive love, and how to give love; both to one another and to God.

​Between the weekly chapters are journaling pages that come with writing prompts or questions which pertain to that week’s study. Use these pages to fill in your thoughts, feelings, fears, and extra verses or words from the Bible. God speaks to us personally, and you may find that certain things you read jump out of the pages at you. In these moments, make note of them. It will be a blessing to turn back to them later.

​This study can be done alone, in pairs, or groups, but is best when you can be deeply and sincerely honest with yourself. I pray that you find a deeper level of love and appreciation for God and that it makes the world around you, which is often in a dark and scary state, somewhat brighter and filled with hope.

Also, at the end of each segment, you'll notice a  prompt that asks you to spend the next portion of your week focused on a certain topic or instruction. It is highly recommended that you utilize these wholeheartedly and journal to keep track of what you gain throughout the study. The more you spend your time diving into each question, instruction, or prompt, the more you will learn and understand.

Weakness & Sin

​The old me was the kind of person who would be overly quiet around most people. I’d study them, watch their reactions, and listen to their opinions until I’d come up with a  filtered version of myself that I felt they could handle. It wasn’t until I was thirty that I started to realize I didn’t know who I was entirely.  I wanted to learn who I was and be who I was without shame. God watched me fall and become shattered before He could intervene in my life because the walls I had built, refused to even give Him a chance.
