    Legal definition of a pharmacy

    Retail pharmacy means the establishment assigned to the filling of magistral prescriptions, to the preparation of medicinal products listed in the pharmacopoeia defined in Article 28 of this Law and to the retail sale of the products referred to in Article 21 of this Law.

    Article 10 of Law 73-55 of 3 August 1973:

    Distribution of pharmacies in Tunisia:

    Two categories:

    Category A pharmacies: pharmacie by day

    Category B pharmacies: night pharmacy

    Condition for the creation of a pharmacy:

    The operation of a pharmacy requires obtaining an operating license

    this is awarded by order of the Minister of Public Health (MSP) after advice from CNOP, the order must mention the category of license (A or B).

    The conditions are:

    › Be of Tunisian nationality for 5 years.

    › Be equipped with a degree of doctoreur in pharmacy.

    › Be in good standing with the law for military service (male)

    Ø Be registered with the Order of Pharmacists .

    › Have a blameless criminal record.

    The opening and closing hours of the pharmacy:

    The opening and closing hours of category A retail pharmacies are fixed, for the days of the week, by an order of the MSP

    Organization of the Guards:

    Childcare is organized to meet the needs of the public outside of business hours
