Managing animal health risks with biosecurity
The health status of South Africa’s national livestock herd has deteriorated over the past 20 years. In some instances, it has reached critically low levels with, amongst others, the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), and the unchecked spread of brucellosis and venereal diseases currently being experienced.
