Cross and the Crucifixion - Grace Dola Balogun

    Preface

The title of this book is perhaps too comprehensive. Some readers might be expecting the dismissal of the Cross of Christ and Crucifixion. But it is on an orderly, full interpretation of the meaning and the power of the Cross the basis why Christ had to go to the Cross and be crucified in order to save sinners.

The people of God need a clearer explanation and more accurate clarification of the work of redemption. What Christ has done in the universe will not be repeated. He did it once and for all. Jesus’ words and prayers in the garden of Gethsemane clearly show that the Father sent Him to the world for the remission of the sins of the human race: My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Mark 14:34.

Christ Jesus poured out the agony of His soul in prayer and submission to the Father’s will. We can never know the intensity of Jesus’ agonizing Spirit or the contents of the cup that He was going to drink, but he said: Abba, Father … everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will. Mark 14:36.

One thing of which we can be sure is that, when we go through our own suffering, in our own Gethsemane, Jesus Christ will be there with us, sympathizing and giving His own example of suffering and words of victorious submission: Yet not what I will, but what you will.

This book has been put forward with the prayer that it may help many who need clear words of truth about the Cross and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has been my desire to connect the work of redemption of Christ’s suffering and agony on the Cross on the day of crucifixion to a clearer image of personal sacrifice on the part of Christ, our Lord.

Together we will be able to see Christ on the Cross on every page of this book. It is a journey in appreciating the redemptive power of the Cross to thank Him more than ever before in our lives.

Jesus Christ was the only one who had the power to forgive sin during His life on earth. He paid for our sins on the Cross with His precious blood and foretold that the Son of man had the power on earth to forgive sins: But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. So he said to the paralyzed man, Get up, take your mat and go home. Matt 9:6.

Before He paid ransom for the sins of the whole world, Christ had the power to forgive sin on earth. He still forgives the sins of humanity today, and will continue until His return to the earth to judge as the book of Revelations tells us. Readers must know at the moment of reading this book that, however great their sin, Christ has the power and authority to forgive them, just as He did during His earthly ministry.

A touch from Him will leave you completely clean from your sins and the nature of sin. Jesus Christ’s atoning work on the Cross has done just that. Christ has had unlimited power, since He conquered sin and since His resurrection from the dead, sitting at the right hand of God, interceding for us, and pleading our case before the Father. Christ’s power to forgive sins still continues at the right hand of God.

He wants all of the people of this earth to repent and pray for forgiveness of their sins, which can only be achieved or obtained through Him. He is ready to forgive you for your sins today with blessed assurance. Christ will breathe on you the breath of life with the peace of God that surpasses all understanding—the peace of God that flows from the full forgiveness of all of your sins.

All people of this earth should believe in and experience the power of the Cross and crucifixion of Christ Jesus to forgive sin. Surrender all to the Savior, call on Him with a repentant heart, and you will receive forgiveness of your sins and a new life in Him.

Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. ‘By what authority are you doing these things?’ they asked. ‘And who gave you this authority?’ Matt 21:23.

Jesus had said to them earlier, during one of His sermons, All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matt 11:27.

And, after His resurrection, He told His Disciples: Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me’ Matt 28:18. All power is in Jesus’ hands. We have to remember that the wind and waves of the sea obeyed and answered His command: He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39.

Jesus Christ exercised His power on His creation during His earthly ministry. There should be no doubt in our minds that Christ is the only one who forgave sins on earth and, now, forgives sins in heaven because He lives forevermore.

    The Power of the Cross

There is no liberation or redemption that is as valuable, significant, or as glorious as the work of humanity from the beginning of creation of the world continues and ends in the Cross of Jesus Christ. Creation and the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ are inseparable. Its ongoing power is life transforming, and it works every second of every hour of the day.

In addition to forgiveness, Jesus made us alive in Him, so that we could live victorious lives.

Many believers know that the Cross means their sins are forgiven. What some people need to realize is that, in addition to forgiveness, Jesus made us alive in Him, so that we could live victorious lives. His sacrifice has infused us with life, a brand new radiant energy.

The scripture tells us how many Christians have applied the finished work of Christ to their lives and have been transformed: For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life.Who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God." 2 Cor 2:15-17.

And, Apostle Paul said, May I never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Gal 6:14. Those who glory, must glory, in the Cross of Christ. It was on the Cross that Christ defeated death.

Jesus purchased all the glory, life, and freedom that we could ever contain. He died for us on the Cross and arose.

And it was there that Jesus purchased all the glory, life, and freedom that we
