    Survival Strategies - Garnet Nowell

    Divine Encounters:

    What's in your hand?

Divine encounters happen all the time. God has a divine plan to get you firmly placed within your destiny.  A divine encounter happens when God orchestrates an encounter with someone or something to bring you out on the other side. You only need to be willing and obedient. What do you have in your hand? God has given us everything we need to succeed. First, we have His Word and the Holy Spirit. How can we be defeated with God on our side and the Holy Spirit living within us? God also provides us with encounters that He uses for His purpose. You may only have a little something in your hand and then have a divine encounter. It does not matter if it's a rock, a stick, a few pennies, a pinch of flour, or a tablespoon of oil. Give it to God and let him use it for His glory.

Moses had his staff. He divided the sea (Exodus 14:16) and brought water from the rocks (Exodus 17:6).

David had his sling and stones, and he killed the giant (1 Samuel 17:50-51).

The widow woman at Zarephath had very little in her hand. She told Elijah, I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die (1 Kings 17:12). She obeyed the prophet, used what was in her hand, made a meal and the meal fed them for many days.

The Prophet’s widow had a small amount of oil that multiplied into a thriving business. Elisha replied to her, How can I help you? Tell me. What do you have in your house? The woman replied, "Your servant has nothing there at all, she said, except a small jar of olive oil." (2 Kings 4:1-7)

What do you have in your hand? Whatever it is, God can use it to bring you into your destiny.  "Believe and trust in the Lord your God and you will be established (secure). Believe and trust in His prophets and succeed" (2 Chronicles 20:20).

    Supernatural Playlists

We need survival strategies, including supernatural playlists, to fight and defeat any enemy.  There were times when we were in weeks of intense battle. We sense the enemy's fiery darts being fired repeatedly at us during this time—just one thing after another.

Through the years, I have developed survival strategies to defeat the enemy during these attacks. A lot of these attacks have to do with time management. My full schedule is bombarded with so much more to do and not enough time to complete it. A lot of this stuff is just that, stuff; nothing important at all. When you start to feel stressed, pull out the weapons of your warfare, which are definitely not carnal (2 Corinthians 10:4-6).

Worship (Supernatural Playlist) is a great strategy.  John 4:24 says, God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Like prosperity, worship is a wholeness word. It not only includes singing and praising but also giving, loving, trusting, hoping, praying, obeying, reading the Word, and so much more.  It's about surrendering our whole being to the one true God. God is not changed through our worship; we are changed. The act of what we call 'going to a worship service' is in itself a separate act of worship. Anything that we do, according to His word, to honor Him is worship. Your supernatural playlists can include music, books, scripture, and prayer. Whatever you find is full of the Word you know will drive away the enemy.

Do you remember the story of Saul and the evil spirit which tormented him? David played the harp and drove the evil spirit away so that Saul could have some peace (1 Samuel 16:14-23). You need to have those supernatural playlists like David's harp music which sends the enemy fleeing. Instead of his arrows flying at you, you can turn them around so they fly back at him. Start your day the right way with your survival strategies ready to use when the enemy tries to bring you down. Survival strategies are essential. I have several strategies I utilize when the enemy attacks. Take the time to have your strategy set ahead of time. When you are in an intense battle, you do not have time to devise a plan of action. Develop, secure, and test your plan before you need to deploy it. David chose his stones and had them ready before he met Goliath (1 Samuel 17:40). Ephesians 6:10-17 tells us to put on the whole armor of God before we go into battle. If you want to survive the battle, prepare for it, set your strategy, and learn to fight with Godly weapons.

You cannot pick up any old weapon that you find. David was given a suit of armor to wear, but he told Saul that he could not wear these because they had not been tested in battle (1 Samuel 17:38-39). He was familiar with his sling and those trusty stones. What would have happened if David had picked up a leaf or a blade of grass? There would be a different end to that story. Survival strategies will protect and prevent you from falling into the traps set by your enemies. Your enemies will taut you and trample upon your faith; however, when you have
