Ghost Last Wish - Sarah Shah

    Chapter 1

Have you ever wondered about soulmates? Someone who is born for you, loves you unconditionally... what about ghosts and spirits? I would have never imagined my life would turn upside down. Our story begins in Paris on a starry night; a young girl is looking at the sky from her terrace just as a voice comes behind her saying, my little star, what are you doing still up?. The young girl with blond hair and blue eyes turns smiling replying, papa, I was admiring the stars. Leon lifts his daughter in his arms and carries her to the bed saying, Amira sweetie, you have school tomorrow. Amira kisses her dad goodnight and falls asleep. The next day at school Amira meets her best friend Tiana as they have a good catchup over break exchanging fruity cookies. Amira says, your cookies always make me smile. Time flies by as Amira is celebrating her seventh birthday with her parents; Leon says, make a wish, Amira. Amira closes her eyes and blows out the candle before happily seeing her mom and dad in love. Diana says , baby, I need to pop out for a moment and get something for Amira. Amira asks, daddy, can I ask you a question?. Leon replies, anything for the birthday girl. Amira asks, how do you and mommy love each other so much?. Leon smiles replying, she’s my soulmate, sweetheart... I knew it the moment I saw her. Amira giggles telling him, Yeah daddy, you’re silly and crazy. Leon looks at the clock saying, I should go and check where mommy is. As he comes out of the house and down the road he sees a group of people gathered around; he goes into the crowd and is soon shocked to see Diana on the ground covered in blood.

He runs over saying, my love, are you ok?. Diana looks at Leon one final time with a smile in her eyes and soon dies. Amira comes downstairs and runs over seeing her mom being taken away while Leon is heartbroken. Soon it is Diana’s funeral as Leon and Amira hold a small gathering and mourn the loss. Amira sees her dad’s state and holds his hand saying, daddy, I love you. Leon hugs his daughter replying, I love you too, my little star. Years pass by as Amira grew beautifully always remembering her dad’s words regarding ‘soulmates.’ One evening Amira was at home reading a book just as a voice says, girl, come on get ready we are going out. Amira says, "Tia, I don’t feel like going out." Tiana says, come on it will be fun and beside you know it’s my last night before I fly out. Amira sighs and then heads to change while Tiana waits for her; they soon head out to ‘Neon Club.’ As they head inside Tiana’s phone rings, and she goes out the back to take the call while Amira hears the loud music and goes over to the bar. The bartender says, some people should not be allowed to dance in public. Amina was confused by what he was talking about and turned to see everyone was dancing with a partner except for one guy who was dancing alone. Amira thinks, ‘wow, look at him dance moving that body and radiating confidence.’ The stranger noticed Amira as she turned away blushing just as Tiana came over saying, sorry Amira, I had to take the call... I have to leave now. Amira was surprised asking, what? are you sure? I will head out too. Tiana nods saying, you stay and have some fun... speak to you soon. Tiana leaves as Amira sighs looking at the drinks asking, um- can I have one strawberry Mojito please?. The bartender nods and prepares the drink just as a voice comes behind Amira, I see my dance moves grabbed your attention, how about we play a game?. Amira drinks a sip of juice before turning back replying, sorry?. Amira looks at the guy who has green eyes and brown hair wearing a casual shirt and jean. He says, I’m sorry if I came across or looked like a weirdo, I just couldn’t miss the opportunity to chat to a gorgeous girl.... Amira coldly looks at the guy folding her arms tightly.

    Chapter 2

Amira says, if your flirting is like your dancing, I think I’m in trouble. The stranger flexes his arms and winks playfully replying, I still got your attention though, didn’t I?. Amira smiles as he continues, well, let’s see if you feel the same way at the end of the night, but first the game. He bends over the counter and grabs a paper napkin as Amira asks, what are you doing?. He replies, I’m going to write your name on this paper napkin and see if I get it correct then I will take you out on a real date. Amira looks stunned and surprised saying, wow, that is a really odd way of inviting someone out, particularly as there is no chance of you winning. The stranger has a confidence smile asking, should we begin the game?. Amira playfully smirks replying, hmm... ok. He takes out a pen, writes something, and folds it as Amira says, that was quick!. He says, what’s your name, gorgeous?. Amira answers, my name is Amira. The stranger replies , I was correct!. Amira says, impossible, let me see that!. She takes the paper napkin and sees ‘adorable’ written on it. He says, I wasn’t wrong, A for Adorable.

Amira blushes and giggles before drinking her drink while he orders himself a Pina Colada. Amira asks, so who are you, mystery man?. He replies, I’m James, I hope you enjoy dancing and movies because we will be doing that for our first date. Amira drinks with James and they spent the rest of the night chatting before she soon heads home. He gives her his number as Amira wonders, ‘could he be my soulmate?.’ Over the next few weeks James and Amira grow closer; they travel around the world however soon tragedy strikes. A year later, Amira comes back to Paris as she looks at her phone seeing a photo of her and James’s wondering, ‘dad told me about soulmates however never mentioned the pain of losing one....’ The uber driver notices Amira feeling unhappy asking, are you ok back there, miss?. Amira puts her phone away replying, uh, yep I am fine. He says, you don’t look familiar, are you new around here?. Amira didn’t want to disclose her identity replying, sure, I just arrived this morning. The driver looked suspicious asking, oh, you’re not running away from something or anything, are you?. Amira coldly answers, what is it to you? why can’t you just mind your own business?!. The driver apologises as Amira sighs before saying, sorry, I just needed to get away from everything, a fresh new start. The driver says, I understand what you mean, miss but sometimes running away from our problems doesn’t necessarily solve it. They soon reach the place as Amira pays the driver and heads inside; she sighs as she begins to tidy up. After having a nice bubble bath, Amira orders a takeout before soon falling asleep.

The next day she is awoken by her phone beeping as she sees a text, ‘good luck on your first day!.’ Amira looks at the time which is 12:00PM as she thinks, ‘oh no! I slept in.’ Meanwhile in a block office a young woman was arguing on the phone about her lunch before hanging up on her. Luke says, let me guess, a certain food place won’t take your order?. Lexi rolls her eyes and begins sobbing, the chick-a-flick owner was so mean to me.... Luke gives her another suggestion however Lexi firmly tells him to stop bothering her. Just as Luke is about to leave he turns back asking, hey Lexi, were you not supposed to be giving a tour to the new assistant?. Lexi replies, you’re right, Luke. They head down to the lobby as Lexi says, I don’t know how the boss expects her to learn everything so quickly!. Luke says, let’s just say, she has big boots to fill. Amira is outside the door about to head in; she takes a deep breath thinking, ‘I’ve got this.’ She opens the door seeing Luke and Lexi talking; Lexi says, I just hope this assistant isn’t a weirdo, remember Cassidy she stole everyone lunch?! what type of person does that?!. Luke notices Amira coming over nervously saying, h-hello.

    Chapter 3

Lexi says, hey! you must be Amira, right?. Amira smiles replying, yes, that’s me. Luke says , nice to meet you, I’m Luke-. Lexi says , and I’m Lexi!. Luke rolls his eyes as Lexi says, we are supposed to show you around. Luke says, actually I have some things to catchup on, I’ll skip the tour. Luke heads back inside the elevator as Lexi screams, you’re missing out, Luke! My tours are the best. Luke says , I’ve worked here longer than you, I already know where everything is. Lexi turns back to Amira saying , "I guess, it’s just
