I'm a wife and mother of four who's been an avid reader since I could pick up a book. It wasn't unusual for me to read a book a day, ignoring the real world as I was sucked into the pages of a great story. I grew up on sci-fi and fantasy books before discovering the world of romance. PNR has always been my go-to, and omegaverse is my addiction of choice. I love writing books featuring heroes who are a bit rough around the edges but aren't overly cruel. My heroines aren't always the take charge type, but neither are all women. They are comfortable in their femininity. If you're looking for a story that has dark themes without leaving you wanting to punch the hero in the face, mine might just be for you.

    1. Karn

Y ou did well when you were in the fights, Largo said, once again leaning back in his chair with a glass of liquor in hand. I was a bit surprised you didn't win the whole thing.

Karn grunted in acknowledgement though he didn't say anything. He had lost the fight on purpose. He had no interest in having an omega.

The life he led was not one to drag some soft female into that he would have to watch every second. A mercenary taking a mate was to give her a death sentence, and Karn would never do that. He wouldn’t even consider mating until he was stable enough to settle down and stop leading such a dangerous life.

I have a problem I think you can help me with. It'll pay well.

Largo was watching him out of the corner of his eye.

    And what's that?

Karn would love to just tell Largo he wasn't interested, but he was short on funds and jobs weren't so common that he could afford to turn down a man like Largo. He could destroy any chance of Karn ever working again. Or even continuing to live, for that matter.

Largo waited a minute before answering.

"When I set up that fight and found out Brie was an omega, it woke me up to wonderful possibilities. Not only would an omega be a great prize for the fight, but I could use them as prizes for other things I run as well. I even had Alphas approach me about purchasing one.

The problem, of course, is the lack of them. Some species tend to produce more than others, but it's not like they advertise themselves. I did well with the first batch. I made calls and sent out a group of men to... collect some for me.

Largo paused for a moment. Karn was well aware he meant kidnap them.

The first two shipments went perfect. They found a couple omegas, brought them to me, and I was able to distribute them as planned. I had more Alphas put deposits on omegas for themselves, and more events scheduled with omega prizes, but then there were issues...

Largo stopped, staring at his glass before sitting it down and looking Karn in the eye.

Someone is stealing my omegas. The first time, a couple disappeared from where they were being held on Tullar, waiting for shipment to the station. The next time, they disappeared right off the damn ship when it was heading back here. I don't know if it's one of my men, or if its someone else getting to them, but I want them caught. I have five Alphas who placed deposits for an omega and are demanding refunds if I don't find them one soon. This is ruining my reputation and I am not going to let it happen!

Largo's hand smacked down on the desk, making his tablet and glass bounce. Karn's eyebrows rose. The little reptilian man had always kept up a pleasant façade before.

Largo cleared his throat and sat back again.

I need you to figure out who's responsible for losing the omegas. I would love if you could find them for me, but I'm sure that's probably not possible at this point, and I won’t ask for anything unreasonable. Since the first two went missing on Tullar, that's likely the best place to find information, but I’ll leave it to you. I expect you to look into everything. The guys will leave in two days on another trip to collect more omegas for me, and I want you to go with them. If you're on the ship, escorting the omegas, you should be able to find out who is sabotaging me. You'd get off at each location and check the facilities and such there. Ask around. Whatever you need to do.

Karn sat, thinking it over. He had done plenty of illegal things but had never taken part in any kind of trafficking. Omegas were special. Yes, they were to be claimed and kept in their place, but it was for their own protection. He scratched at the stubble on his face.

I'll let you keep an omega, Largo tried tempting him.

    Karn snorted.

I'm not interested in pussy, I can get that anywhere. I'm only interested in credits.

Fine, Largo shrugged. Fifty thousand if you stop the person responsible. One hundred for them alive, and one fifty if you find the omegas they took from me too.

    Karn growled under his breath.

Seems like it would take a few people to be pulling this off. Most likely a group of trained Alphas. Fifty thousand is pretty cheap to be pitting myself against a group like that. Especially with no real information to go off.

Largo stared at him, Karn maintaining eye contact.

Seventy-five for stopping them then. One-ten should be enough to avoid killing at least one so I can have the pleasure of having a discussion with them myself. There can't be that many because there's been no talk... and you know how people talk. I would have heard by now if it was more than just a few people behind this.

    Karn nodded.

I'll do it with fifty up front. Someone knows something.

Largo eyed him a moment longer before conceding to his demand.

It'll be available to you the day you leave. The ship will make three stops. One on Filligarn to pick up two omegas being held there already. Hopefully more by the time you get there, but who knows. After that there should be at least one on Kidastan, and then my men are tailing two on Tullar. I'm assuming whoever is doing this won’t try again until after they collect the last omega like last time, so the first half of the journey should be easy for you.

If you think it could be your crew, what will they be told to explain my presence? Karn asked, standing in preparation to leave.

The less time he had to deal with Largo, the better for his temper.

    Largo shrugged.

I’ll say you're going because you are an Alpha and can verify that the girls are actually omegas. We already had a mistake with one beta that a family tried to pass as an omega, I prefer not to have another. They're a waste of resources.

Karn grunted and walked to the door.

Have someone get me when it's time to leave. I’ll be ready.

Largo's smirk was the last thing he saw as he glanced back before shutting the door to the office. One of Largo’s men was standing in the hallway waiting to take Karn to his room. He hadn't been back on Station Eight since the fight, but nothing seemed to have changed in the passing cycles.

Instead of leading Karn to the rooms by the arena where he stayed before, he was taken a few halls over to a nicer one than he had the last time. Karn nodded to the man, walking into the room and looking around.

It had a large bed covered with a plush-looking black blanket, a holo on the wall across from it, and a small table with two chairs in the corner. One of Largo’s men had already deposited his bag on the bed.

Karn didn't see the point in unpacking for just two days, so he tossed it into a corner and laid down, already having second thoughts about the job he had just agreed to, but it was too late to back out now.

    2. Adaria

W e need your help again. Meet us in two hours. You know where.

Adaria sighed looking at the message. She'd had a feeling it would come, but had been hoping for a longer break before she had to go through it again.

    Okay.

She dragged herself out of bed. It was early morning, or late night, depending on your schedule. The sun wouldn't even be up in two hours for the meeting.

Rubbing her eyes, Adaria walked into her tiny bathroom and started the water. The old building she lived in didn't have the best water heating, and it took forever to get warm enough to tolerate at this time of day.

She glared at herself in the mirror and pulled her mane of long white hair into a knot on the top of her head. There wasn’t nearly enough time to deal with the mass of waist-length waves right now.

Adaria showered, dealing with the still too-cold water. It was the best way to wake herself up, mainly because it sucked so bad.

Grumbling to herself, she pulled on some baggy clothes and stomped into her boots. She understood the need for secrecy to protect everyone involved, but she didn't have to pretend to enjoy the crazy hour.

Pulling a hood over her head to hide her feminine features, she left her building, stopping at a shop on the corner for a stimulant and something to eat, before making her way to the hub for the SkyBus. It would take her over an hour to get to the place where the meeting would be, and she was cutting it close.

Adaria lived in an older, run down part of the city, where people had to watch their back, while the people she was working for lived in newly built mansions along the outskirts where life was still beautiful. She could afford to move to a nicer place now if she wanted to, but she was comfortable where she was, and didn’t know where else she would go.

Moving somewhere nicer would just draw attention to her that she didn’t want, and would give people the wrong ideas. Being an omega living alone at her age, the first thing they would assume was that she had become the mistress of some Alpha that wanted to keep her hidden.

Adaria snorted to herself as she took a seat on the SkyBus. The last thing she would do is become the kept woman of some rich, old Alpha. She had been taking care of herself just fine since her father died.

    Until she’d been kidnapped anyway.

Her features pulled into a scowl as she stared out the window of the bus at the twin moons that circled Tullar. She still couldn't believe that happened to her.

She had been walking home one day when three men attacked her. They were shorter than her, but surprisingly strong, and they injected her with something that knocked her out almost immediately. She later figured out they were called Darilians, a reptilian species without the dynamic her people had.

Being one of the larger cities on her planet, it wasn't unusual to see other alien species in Palumi, and she thought nothing of it when she passed by the three in the street. They weren't Alphas, so she hadn't paid as much attention to them as she should have.

At first, she wasn't sure what reason they could have for kidnapping her, since they weren't compatible and she had no one to ransom her, but it didn't take long to figure it out. Alphas of most species had no issue with buying an omega if given the opportunity.

Once Adaria realized they had kidnapped another omega as well, she knew they were planning to sell them. Lucky for her, they hadn't prepared for someone with her talents, and she had been able to get herself, and the other girl, free.

The experience had taught her to be more vigilant, and it had earned her a job.

The girl she saved when she escaped, Tilla, was from a wealthy family. When Adaria had taken Tilla back to her home, her father offered her a job as the girl's companion, as well as a reward.

Apparently, people having a paid companion was a thing for rich people.

Adaria refused the reward but accepted the job. In reality, she was a bodyguard, and a nanny. The poor girl had barely been past her first heat, certainly not old enough to be claimed by a mate yet, and was thrilled with Adaria being her companion. Tilla's parents figured since Adaria was female, and an omega, that she would be able to follow her everywhere, while a male may not be able to go certain places and wouldn't be able to be around her when she went through her heat.

Even a beta would attempt to take an omega in heat if given the chance.

When another omega was kidnapped not long after their escape, the families had gotten together and asked Adaria for help. At first, she had been unsure. She would be going right back into the situation she had escaped from,
