I'm a wife and mother of four who's been an avid reader since I could pick up a book. It wasn't unusual for me to read a book a day, ignoring the real world as I was sucked into the pages of a great story. I grew up on sci-fi and fantasy books before discovering the world of romance. PNR has always been my go-to, and omegaverse is my addiction of choice. I love writing books featuring heroes who are a bit rough around the edges but aren't overly cruel. My heroines aren't always the take charge type, but neither are all women. They are comfortable in their femininity. If you're looking for a story that has dark themes without leaving you wanting to punch the hero in the face, mine might just be for you.

    Prologue: Red

Being a female mechanic was hard enough, also being an omega made life miserable sometimes. She didn’t believe in suppressing her nature with drugs, partially because she couldn’t afford them, so everyone Red encountered knew right away what her dynamic was and automatically figured she couldn’t know anything besides how to spread her legs for an Alpha. An omega’s only place was in the home.

The fact that she had been raised with a wrench in her hand since her father and brothers were some of the best-known mechanics on the planet, not just the city, meant nothing. She helped them on multiple projects as she got older, but people always assumed she was just playing mechanic for attention or something. Even her uncle thought of her that way no matter how many times she proved him wrong in the shop.

Red’s mother died when she was young, forcing her father to raise her alone along with his two older sons. Having three Alphas watching every move she made for the first half of her life left her a bit rebellious and ragged around the edges. She wasn’t considered a ‘proper’ omega.

Having the three of them die in an accident didn’t help her life any, either.

Her uncle took over her father’s mechanic shop and would have gotten rid of her if he hadn’t needed to keep her around to fix the things he wasn’t capable of doing. Which was a lot.

The man had no business taking a tool to any machine, but he wouldn’t admit it. His brother had made a great business out of it, so he figured he could use her father’s good name to give himself a cushy life.

It didn’t take that long for people to realize the shop wasn’t the same without her father and brothers, and her uncle ran that good name into the ground with his shitty work ethics and gambling.

Red should have seen it coming. There was less and less business at the shop, which she explained away as people not wanting to deal with her uncle.

She still had hope of saving the shop for a while. Her uncle was absent more and more, but when he was there, they seemed to get visits from a group of men that never needed any work done. All the signs were there, she just hadn’t wanted to believe her uncle would do such a thing.

She found out he lost the shop the same day she was taken. Red had been in his office looking for an invoice when she found the paperwork.

Technically she owned half the shop, but being an omega and ‘in his care’ since she wasn’t bonded, he sold the shop without even consulting her. The way their society was set up, an omega had no rights on her own, so without an Alpha, or at least a beta, to speak up for her, there was nothing Red could do.

The rage that burned through her made her blind to the danger she was in until it was too late. She hadn’t even noticed the three men in the lobby with her uncle when she stormed out to confront him with the papers clenched in her fist.

If he didn’t have the shop, he no longer needed her. Plus, omegas were worth a lot of money.

There she is, Red’s uncle said as soon as she came out of the office.

The comment threw her off for a moment and made her pause.

She didn’t have time to respond before she felt a pinch in her arm. Turning, she saw one of the little reptilian men next to her holding a syringe before the world went black.

Waking up in the little room hadn’t really surprised her. It was obvious what her uncle had done, but that didn’t mean she had to lie down and accept it.

After searching for a way out, or something to use as a weapon, she screamed to speak with someone. She was ignored for what felt like hours before the door finally opened.

Launching herself at it, Red came up short when she realized it was another omega entering the room. Quiet, with a blank stare as tears streamed down her cheeks, the omega just stood where she was left.

The door shut behind her and locked again before Red could get to it.

She tried to talk to the woman after she got her settled, trying to ease her out of her shock, but nothing Red had done helped. The tears eventually stopped, but the woman showed no response to anything around her until the Alpha came in.

Her reaction to him confirmed what Red assumed was wrong. She was suffering from a broken bond, and Red pitied the poor woman. Without intense treatment, a broken bond generally led to death. Her father only survived because he had to care for her and her brothers.

Not long after the Alpha left, a pair of the reptilian men came in and took the woman away. Red tried to protect her, but a third had come in and dragged Red away from the other omega, eventually injecting her again with whatever they used to knock her out.

The second time she came to, she was locked in a room with other omegas and was told that they were now on a ship. Apparently, whoever her uncle owed money to was collecting them from multiple planets, and the reptilian men were now taking them to their fate.

It didn’t take much to guess it would involve being given to an Alpha in the end.

Lucky for all of them, one of the girls in the last group brought onboard was planted there to save them. Adaria got them out of the locked room, and they escaped using the emergency pods.

Picked up by someone working with Adaria, the omegas were all taken to Tullar. An older couple, whose daughter was the first omega Adaria saved from the reptilian men in the process of freeing herself when she was kidnapped, provided the omegas with a place to stay and transportation home.

A lot of the girls went back to their families, but Red had no interest in returning to Kidastan, or her uncle. After selling her and the shop, she had no family left, or reason to return where he could find her again.

She appreciated the couple who had taken her in, but Red wasn’t used to just sitting around, and it bothered her to feel like she was being a burden to the family even though they were obviously wealthy. When Adaria returned mated to the Alpha who Red first met in the room she had been locked in on Kidastan, she jumped at the chance to leave with them and start over somewhere new.

All she had known was that Adaria’s mate, Karn, had a friend who owned a mine. Mines have a lot of machinery, so she asked if they needed a mechanic, and the owner agreed to give her a shot.

Red left Tullar with Karn and Adaria on their mission to stop the man behind the kidnapping as a way to meet Zander, who owned the mine. When Red met him, Zander turned out to be a pretty nice guy, for an Alpha. He didn’t seem to have a prejudice against omegas working like most Alphas did.

When they walked into the kitchen on his ship, he introduced the trio to the rest of the Alphas who were there to help stop the kidnapper. Not all of them worked for Zander, but a good portion of them did, and Red drooled at the choice of men before her.

Though she wasn’t a virgin, with her father and brothers watching over her constantly, she hadn’t had much opportunity to get out and sample the male population. She usually spent her heat alone, locked in a special room. Her uncle had kept her on an even shorter leash, working her until she was too tired to even consider doing anything after work besides sleep.

The opportunity in front of her had her giddy with dirty thoughts. One of the Alphas at the table in particular, Rainor, turned out to co-own the mine and featured in a fairly dirty idea that forced Red to avoid his gaze for the rest of the trip.

Though she had been happy just to find a place to be useful, being in the company of such virile, rugged men made the idea of living at a mine much more appealing than it initially seemed.

    1. Red

The mine was not as boring as she initially feared it would be. With all the machinery involved in the process of mining and refining the ore and minerals found there, there seemed to always be something to work on to keep her occupied.

Being one of the only unmated females in the compound meant Red received all the attention she could take from the guys working the mines as well. Though she had only been on the planet for about a week, Red was pretty sure she could have her choice of any, or all, of the males available.

A grin stretched her lips as she finished tightening the bolt on the conveyor. There was a complete sausage buffet laid before her, ready for her to dive in. She had two problems though.

One of the problems was how small the community was.

Red had her own room in the refinery so she was close to the machines when needed, but besides the few families who lived here, the other workers all lived in a barracks building together. They all ate together at a communal kitchen.

The men worked together every day, and sometimes she worked alongside them. It would be easy for things to get messy, and she wanted to avoid that at all cost.

    The other problem was Rainor.

He was one of the Alphas she met on the ship when he and Zander came to help Karn deal with the crime-boss Largo. He had been a total cock-block to any male who tried to approach her, and since he owned part of the mine, no one wanted to piss him off. It only took a stern look from him to send any male speaking to her scuttling away.

Scowling, she tossed the wrench into her toolbox and slammed the lid shut. Deciding she was done for the day, Red collected her things and headed back to her room.

The room they made for her wasn’t very big, but at least it was private, and she had her own lavatory as well. Peeling off her coveralls, she tossed them in a corner and went into her bathroom for a quick shower.

After washing off the sweat and grease, Red slipped into a tank top and skirt before heading towards the cafeteria. Even the few families in the compound tended to eat there, since it was easier than having to fix something themselves after working all day.

Though she was the only single omega, there were a couple of other female betas who lived there as well. She wasn’t the only one getting plenty of male attention, but the Alphas did seem to focus on her until they were chased off by Rainor.

When she entered the large room, she spotted Brie and Adaria at their usual spot in the corner. Heading over to them, she marveled at the cafeteria once again. Even after seeing it multiple times a day, it still took her breath away.

Zander knew after spending all day in a dark mine, no one would want to be stuck in another enclosed room, so he built the cafeteria to be bright and open. The compound sat on a cliff, and one whole wall of the cafeteria was windows that
