About this ebook
Western politics is built on the premise of competitive visions, policies and promises. It is the art of oratory and influence.
When well managed, it has been the vehicle that delivers economic growth and political stability for many countries.
But when it becomes seriously confrontational, the resulting in-fighting and open fighting in rhetoric and in real conflicts are highly destructive. Confrontational politics then becomes a clear and present danger to their own countries, to their neighbors, and even to the world at large.
It is high time for a change.
A fundamental change in the way western politics is conducted has to be part of the solution to building a new future for humankind.
Hopefully, people of the West will find the wisdom and the strength to do this.
The rest of the world will also have to find the courage and determination to chip in to usher in the new world of peace and harmony that we all want.

Confrontational Western Politics - Terry Nettle
1. Election Hustling
Western politics has become highly competitive and even confrontational over time.
During election time, western politicians pull out all the stops to muster support and votes so as to get elected.
They will say anything to justify how good their own policies are. They will viciously attack their opponents' policies as wrong, harmful and dangerous, and they may even ruthlessly attack the opponents' personal character and integrity based on hearsay, rumours, flimsy evidence and even lies. This makes election campaigning a vicious and dirty business in many countries.
This is what gives politics a bad reputation among many people.
2. Confrontational Politics
The no-holds-barred electioneering is the cause of the incredibly vicious confrontational politics of the West.
To win elections, these politicians have no qualms about generating fake news, disinformation and even resorting to slanders.
Then, after winning the election, they will focus on rewarding their supporters and their financiers, even to the extent of raiding public coffer and engaging in invidious corrupt practices. Some of
