An Unexpected Visitor

The sun was high over Sundown Ridge, casting long shadows of wooden buildings down the dirt streets. Sheriff Buster was busy inside his office, looking over a stack of wanted posters of claim jumpers when he heard the distinct sound of horse hooves approaching. Looking up, he saw a rider slowly pulling in, dust trailing behind him.

The newcomer was a formidable figure, a symbol of authority, and power. He was clad in a marshal's uniform, complete with a badge gleaming under the scorching sun. His eyes were hidden under the brim of a well-worn hat. Dismounting from his steed, the stranger stepped onto the wooden sidewalk and headed straight for the Sheriff's office.

Buster stood up, tucking the wanted posters into his desk drawer. As the office door creaked open, he was met with the piercing gaze of the U.S. Marshal.

Sheriff Buster? the Marshal asked, his voice rough as sandpaper.

That's me, Buster replied, offering a firm nod. What brings a U.S. Marshal to Sundown Ridge?

The Marshal produced a small satchel, from which he pulled out three wanted posters. He laid them down in front of Buster, each depicting a man more dangerous-looking than the last. I'm after these men, he began, pointing to each poster in turn. They've been causing havoc all over the west. Wanted, dead or alive.

Buster studied the posters with keen attention. The first man, known as One-Eyed Jack, was tall and lean, with a patch over one eye and a grim, toothy grin that sent chills down one's spine. His reputation as a ruthless gunslinger was well-known in the territories.

The second man was a burly brute called Mad Dog McGraw. His face was a map of scars, evidence of countless fights, and his bushy eyebrows sat atop a pair of cold, unfeeling eyes. He was known for his unpredictable temperament and brute strength.

Finally, the third man, Silent Sam, was an enigma. His face was unremarkable, which allowed him to blend into crowds easily, making him a dangerous man. His eyes were the only telling feature – a cold, icy blue that never seemed to blink. He was the brains of the operation, always a step ahead of the law.
