Chapter 1
REX! REX! REX!
Michael called out his gatekeeper's name in panic. His fear heightened as his eyes scanned through the entire mess the house was in.
As Michael came out of the boardroom, he rushed to the elevator and hopped into it. Hurriedly, he pressed hard the button going to the first floor. On his way down, he tried calling Julie, but it rang for a minute, and then, hung up. After getting out of the elevator, he walked towards the company's garage. The staff at the reception bowed their heads as they saw him approaching, but he didn't take notice of their gesture.
Everything in his head seemed blank.
The only thing that filled his mind was JULIE!
An Image of JULIE!
He didn't want to lose her.
He couldn't even think of losing her.
Not at this point.
Not now, when he finally started to feel what it was like to be in love again.
The warmth he felt as their bodies intertwined!
The comfort he felt as their souls were lost to each other!
The pleasurable pain of immersing themselves into one another!
He wasn't going to let go of that!
He was going to fight for them!
He was going to protect her.
On getting to the garage, a fleet of luxurious cars was in sight. Michael walked in long strides as his legs covered more distance with each step he took. As he walked past the fleet of cars, he grabbed the knot of his solid black tie aggressively to loosen it totally from his neck.
His looks gave off the preparation for a battle he only hoped was just in his head.
There was a rush of heat going through his veins!
It was like a fire of emotions that were about to explode!
Beads of warm sweat formed on his forehead.
Rolling down to his cheeks slowly!
He panted profusely in beats that could make a person's heart skip.
His whole state of the body showed how nervous his nerve cells, neurons, and neuroglia made him be.
He finally got to the other side of the garag -only to discover his car wasn't at the spot he thought it was.
He stood, heaving deep sighs of confusion as he tried to recollect where he parked his car earlier that day. His eyes wandered through the garage. A memory surfaced, but it wasn't clear to him. Michael was feeling tired and didn't want to waste more time thinking. He could feel soft pains in his head, which transformed into a sharp headache. He delved his hands into the pocket of his black bespoke blazers as he pulled out his car remote control. Slowly, he wandered around the garage, pressing down the remote control and pointing it towards the cars that could presumably be his. After about seven attempts, a white Honda Accord headlight popped up and a beeping sound was heard from it. He walked towards it, this time, in shorter strides as his legs felt wobbly. Michael didn't eat breakfast while leaving the house in the morning. He was more focused on the situation between him and Julie that it skipped his mind to eat.
The issue with the pharma cartel also put a lot of stress on him.
Now, the fear and nervousness he had at that moment about Julie being in danger made him feel weak.
He opened his car door with a slight pull as he hopped into it as though he was pushed into it.
He was already famished and struggling to regain his composure. Threw his mobile phone on the passenger's seat. After struggling with his car key for a few seconds, he finally inserted it in the ignition. As he turned the key sideways to ignite it, a quiet sound filled the air, and Michael swiftly turned the steering wheel with his left hand and drove out of the garage.
While he drove on the asphalt-concrete road, he pulled up the 4th gear to go faster.
With every second that passed,
Michael's fear grew.
His speedometer went up!
His thoughts wandered!
It can't be.
He murmured to himself as he wallowed in fear.
He dialed Julie's number on the touch screen in his car and still, she didn't answer the call.
After some minutes, He yelled, JULIE! JULIEEE!
which the call phone book recognized and gave her another call, but it just rang and cut off after a minute. Michael repeatedly stamped his left hand on the steering wheel as he murmured curse words underneath his breath. As he contemplated on what to do, his gaslight came on, and it dawned on him that he was yet to fill his car tank. He planned to do it the night before but was caught up with Julie. For some minutes, thoughts of whether to keep going or stop by a gas station went through his mind. He decided to keep going but had a hint of doubt it would be enough to get him to his destination. He decided he was going to fill his tank at that moment when he saw a gas station nearby. Pulled up his car and hit up a conversation with the gas man, urging him to be fast about it. When it was taking a bit longer, he got down from the car and took a look at the surroundings. He heard a vibrating sound and turned towards the car to see his phone ringing. In a haste, he slid in from the window to pick it up, hoping
