Professor Mario J. Giordano
Born in Philadelphia in 1925, Professor Giordano grew up during the Great Depression and served in the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he used the G.I. Bill to attend Temple University in Philadelphia, where he graduated with honors, earning a B.S. and an M.Ed.During his 35-year teaching career, Professor Giordano was passionate about his students' learning and recognized the importance of innovation in education. He was frustrated by students who fell behind and those who found the pace of learning boring. From his experience, he realized that schools didn't teach one critical skill: how to learn. His expertise in education and business management led him to create educational systems for both the U.S. government and private industry. He developed Distributive Education and the Non Lock-Step Educational System, two of his major accomplishments.Professor Giordano was not only an innovative educator but also an American patriot. He was well-versed in the philosophy of individual freedom, the history of Western Civilization, and the concepts of free-market entrepreneurialism, which are the foundations of the United States of America. To learn more about his lessons on these subjects, you can read the book "UnaLIENable: What It Really Means and Why It Matters" on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Forward to the Updated Edition
We want to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed their thoughts and suggestions after reading the first edition of this book. Your input has been invaluable and greatly appreciated. Although we cannot name each and every one of you, please know that your feedback was heard and taken into consideration.
We were pleasantly surprised by the success of the first edition of the book, which was originally written as a report by Prof. Mario J. Giordano and published in 1975 under the title, "Basic Learning Secrets That Pay Off." For the first edition, we decided to keep the text true to the author's original intent while also acknowledging that the concepts discussed are still relevant and important today. Learning how to learn is a vital skill that has not been adequately taught in our schools.
In response to your feedback, we have made some changes to the new edition. This second edition was also reworked to form the basis for an online lecture series for instructional purposes. We also added some new material, including tips for studying textbooks.
We are grateful for the impact that the first edition had and we hope that this second edition will continue to extend Prof. Giordano's legacy to those who value education and self-improvement. Thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy the updated version of our book.
- Dr. Thomas V. Giordano

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
INTRODUCTION
Let's first set the tone for this report. The one thing I want to do, above all, is give you this important information in the simplest, friendliest way I can. So, from this point forward, think of me as a friend who is sharing with you what he has learned about learning.
As you study this report, picture yourself just having a conversation with a friend.Don't look for catchy phrases, picturesque writing, or grammatically perfect prose. It's only the information I want you to have. Information that will become an important tool for your survival in the years to come.
WHAT YOU WILL GET FROM THIS REPORT
I know this report will change your life for the better. That's why I feel very good about getting it to you. It has changed my life and those of hundreds of others who now know the same information, it all has to do with knowing how you can learn any body of knowledge quickly and thoroughly, even if you never had success at learning before. It also has to do with saying bunk
to those who have said that knowing how to learn is for those with a high IQ.I am here to tell you, and I hope to convince you, that you no longer have to believe that nonsense.Learning ability and skills are not for the selected few, only.In fact, I have conclusive proof that 95% of our population could learn anything, given enough time. This means that the only difference between you and a genius is the length of time you both need to master a subject. If you can find a way to shorten that length of time, you will have moved closer to the genius level.
This report is THE WAY.It contains eight fast-learning methods (FLMS) that will make you a much faster learner.By the time you finish this report, you will know:
1. How to remove the one major barrier to understanding.
2. How to quickly absorb the basics of any subject and give yourself a bedrock foundation for what you want to know.
3. How to make it almost impossible for anyone (even a teacher) to ask you a question you cannot answer correctly.
4. How to learn on your own (without classes and teachers) through a foolproof method that has been suppressed by educators for years.
5. How to quickly absorb and understand whole books.
6. How to "lay in concrete" a full understanding of the subject you are studying through the use of simple bric-a-brac found in any home.
7. How to learn the secrets of acquiring quick understanding through an almost unknown use of the dictionary.
8. How to burn whole lists of data into your memory so that you can automatically recall them anytime.
WHY SHOULD YOU LEARN HOW TO LEARN?
Most skills depend upon three primary abilities: to read with understanding, to write clearly, and to calculate accurately.Abilities in these areas are necessary for advancement in any field. But, believe it or not, these are not the basics of learning. Before you can master reading, writing and arithmetic, you must first learn how to learn.
