About this ebook
About that time, a temp programming job opened up and I grabbed it, leaving the Lozenge Corporation. A temp programming job usually pays 150% of programmer pay. However, the customer needs an unusual skill set and I get the same Project Manager pay that I had, back at the Lozenge Corporation.
Actually, I am doing Project Manager work for my new company.
My new project is in support of seismic imaging. Seismic imaging is used to map the underground, below a selected surface area. A major use of seismic imaging is to search for oil.
A device causes vibrations on the surface and echos come back and the echos reflect what is far below the surface.
My company processes the echo data and tells oil drillers where to drill. The processed data is very valuable and is shared with no one, Well that is no one but the guys who process the data.
I know a bit about where there is oil and who might profit. I work out each night, out in the field, and then I hit the bars. The guys whooping it up are the ones finding oil.
I speculate in oil futures and I make a ton.
Oh yeah, there are ladies who service the oil drillers and who is renting the top ladies is who is finding oil.
The oil roughnecks do hard labor, usually twelve hours a day. The guys are strong and they don’t need no wimps.
In order to track the good oil rigs, I need to hang out in roughneck bars. In order to hang out in roughneck bars I have to be in shape and not get pushed around.
I work out seven days a week, after work and even on weekends. I am in shape and I don’t get pushed around. I also get some idea of how a roughneck lives. I can make my own space and yet not get into a fight. I can handle a drunk and not really get into a fight. I can use Shuai Jiao, Kung Fu wresting, to immobilize an opponent, without things seemingly getting into a visible fight. Recognizing the clues will stand me in good stead, later on.
My field work is in a company trailer. I maintain the computer programs that process the seismic data. The work changes as new things are learned by the drillers.
I work hard and earn my pay. I work smart and earn big profits from oil speculation.
Finally, I find a driller who is above a major oil find, but has run out of money.
I provide the money to finish the drilling and a $3 stock goes to $53! I have used option calls and leverage to the max and, even after taxes, I find myself a multi millionaire.
I then manage the sale of the new oil find to a major oil company and double my already multi millions.
Life is good.
Well, there are some problems.
The roughnecks who actually work the oil rigs need a bit of entertainment. A nice cool beer or a glass of whiskey are one form of entertainment. Another form of entertainment is girls, who sell themselves.
Okay, I am single and I don’t find a lot of interesting women in the oil patch.
There is an establishment, not too far from where I’m staying, where I can rent a girl who is for rent.

I'm the co-author, with Sunset Thomas, of Anatomy of An Adult Film.I have 48 novels and over 299 short stories currently published.I spent my early years in the part of Los Angeles known as the South Central. I was known as Whi' Boy, which was sufficient to identify me in that place. I'm a skilled Kung Fu player, using a system that I learned from a Korean I knew only as 'Pak.' It would be easier to tell you the places that Pak wasn't wanted by the police, rather than the places where he was wanted by the police. Pak's Kung Fu system, augmented by some bits and pieces from some Chinese practitioners is quick and effective, or I wouldn't be alive today. My early education was mostly obtained by stealing books from the public library (I always returned them and the Librarian even began to provide me with reading lists.) I did go to high schools, but I never really learned anything there. I eventually graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA, with a degree in mathematics.I work as a Systems Analyst and also make a part of my living as a professional gambler (legal in Nevada.) I write science fiction and erotica. My published novels are:Anatomy of An Adult Film (With Sunset Thomas)1. Second Chance: God Killer2. Second Chance: Sky Pirate3. Second Chance: Scroll Seeker4. Chapter 1: A Project Manager Arrives
I used to work for the Lozenge Corporation, as a computer programmer. I was hired on as a Project Manager. The project that I was hired to manage involved a hardware suite that was run by a software suite that my project software team was to generate.
I reviewed the high level design that was customer furnished. I saw possible problems with the high level design.
The hardware was a two site design, with the sites connected by a single 2400 bits per second modem. The available communication lines limited the rate of data transfer to 2400 bits per second. The amount of data to be transmitted per second was way beyond 2400 bits. I did the arithmetic and found that the amount of data to be transmitted per second would be handled by five 2400 bits per second modems, assuming 100% efficiency. Since 100% efficiency is rarely achieved in the real world, I reported a need for six 2400 bits per second modems. Some loud mouth snarled that I didn’t know what I was talking about. We got a modem engineer in and the specialist verified a need for six 2400 bits per second modems. The specialist then told loud mouth boy that loud mouth boy needed to go back to elementary school to learn about arithmetic.
Loud mouth boy then wanted to ‘go to fist city.’
I told loud mouth boy, The man that you are talking to is a modem specialist. I am a local fist city specialist.
Loud mouth boy flipped me the bird and then walked out of the meeting.
I then told the Department Manager that I wanted loud mouth boy out of any and all project work, citing safety concerns.
The Department Manager just sneered, You have to know how to handle boys who get a little out of line.
(I saw that I was in trouble. Unfortunately, I had a stock option put play at work and I needed a pay check, while I waited for my stock option to make me quite a bit of money. There were no computer programmer jobs
