The 3 P's - Tymika Chambliss-Williams
Introduction
Over the course of the past few years, I have been blessed to accomplish a lot. These accomplishments have lured me into the path of being asked the age-old question that many hardworking women are faced with, How do you do it all?
Let me lead with this; it’s not about doing it all or having it all. However, it IS about learning how to manage your passion and purpose while parenting. Your first step is knowing this one simple thing… You don’t have to abandon your dreams because you are a parent or a victim of your circumstances.
In this mini-guide, I will outline my process for managing my passion and purpose while growing in parenting. Allow me to share my experiences and what has worked for me.
Contrary to what some may believe:
I am not a guru in this field
I did not study this in college
I am not a preacher
I am a parent who has decided to share her life’s realities and triumphs in the hope of helping others.
Are you ready?!
Questions about how to connect one’s passion to one’s purpose have plagued the minds of the most complex thinkers for generations, especially the minds of parents. From our youth, we all wanted to know what our role is in the grand scheme of things. However, despite this thirst for purpose, determining the answer to that question is difficult. And, in many instances, when we finally have an answer to that question, parenting comes along and shifts our focus. These beautiful beings, created from our DNA, become our sole reason for living, causing us to innately toss out our dreams and goals, altering our plans for our future.
Navigating the waters of life with the demands of parenting while still thirsting for the fulfillment of our own private desires has proven to be a challenge every parent faces. In the next couple of pages, I will share my journey of self-discovery while growing in this amazing and critical role of parenting. Let’s dive in!
Passion
One of the most popular statements over the last decade or so has been follow your passion
. This phrase, for a number of us, became our guiding light on the quest to a successful life. However, not all of us were able to conquer this journey to our passion and live a life, in our own estimation, that would be considered ‘fulfilling’. In our current generation, with the explosion of mobile devices that provide instant connectivity, instant health care, and instant entertainment, we live our lives not realizing we may be living on borrowed time. The reality of time has been lost in this era of instantaneous gratification and has extinguished the raging fire in most people to pursue the desires of their hearts and that which they are most passionate about.
Not much is said about passion anymore. Occasionally, the subject
