About this ebook
He's a big bad wolf with a sweet tooth, and she's sweet as candy.
After leaving home for a jaunt in the woods, local twins, Hansel, and Gretel, were missing for two whole months before returning to their parents' loving arms. As if that wasn't enough headline fodder, the cherubic children named a beloved Pinesville business owner as their kidnapper!
My Granny.
When the owner of The Sweet Shoppe is arrested and forced to face criminal charges, of course, she called the one person she could depend on to uncover the truth.
Me.
My name is Candice Bellamy, and I am a Witch just like Granny. Someone has framed her for this heinous crime, and I am going to set things right. Only, I might be in over my head.
Thank goodness for Luke Lawson! My lanky and tongue-tied childhood neighbor is all grown up, and this hunky Shifter just happens to be the detective in charge of Granny's case.
Will I clear Granny's name and hold on to my heart before this is over?

prologue
Candy
The story I am about to share is my story, or really, our story . Mine and my mate’s.
You see that guy over there? The one with the thick brown hair carelessly tossed back from his handsome, slightly scruffy, chiseled face. Yeah, that’s the one. Okay, now. Easy! I said, put your tongue back in your mouth, sister, or I’ll zap you.
Anyway, yeah, that’s him. The sexy man rockin’ a solid eight pack, sitting on the rubber duckie floatie, and trying to coax the little blonde toddler down the slide and into our pool.
My mate.
It's been a few years since everything went down, and believe me when I tell you, I am one lucky Witch. Luke, that’s my guy, is a Wolf Shifter and that little blonde toddler is our baby girl. Her name is Cece, and we still don’t know if she’ll take after her mom or dad in the gift department. Sometimes supernatural offspring take after neither parent. Only very rarely does a child take after both.
I’ll be happy either way, Wolf, or Witch, but I know Luke is secretly hoping for a Wolf. It would certainly be easier that way. You see, Witchcraft comes with a heck of a lot of responsibility, and not a small bit of prejudice from other supes.
I’ve learned to let go of all that now. Luke helped me see past the anger and animosity I had towards folks I thought had judged me unfairly. But this story is not about them. It’s about me, us, and how we got together.
But first, I have a question for you. Do you believe in fairytales? Cause this is a howling good one…
chapter one
Candy
About three years ago…
I woke with a niggling, nagging, annoying, little feeling in the forefront of my mind. No, it wasn’t because my roommate Red didn’t come home last night. It was something else. I got out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom, listening for sounds of anyone in the cramped apartment we shared in Downtown Jersey City. It was all I could afford at the moment, even with a roommate.
Who knew rents would skyrocket after a global pandemic kept everyone in lockdown for over a year? I sure as shit hadn’t been banking on that. What was that smell?
Ugh. I looked down and found my dirty apron from the night before still on the counter. Waitressing sucked. But it was the only thing I could do to make money while working on getting my master's degree.
I was almost finished, thank fuck. I finally handed in the first rough draft of my thesis and was still waiting to hear back from my professor. But this feeling I had that something was very wrong had nothing to do with school or my dismal, and oftentimes messy, job.
The phone rang and I spit out the chug of spearmint mouthwash I’d just swished around my gums. I always rinsed before brushing. It was my morning ritual. When you grew up with a Candy Witch for a Granny, like I had, you learned early on to watch out for cavities.
Yep. You heard me. Magic is real, and I am a Witch. Cornelia Bellamy is my Granny, and she is the best Candy Witch of her age. Oh yeah. I am totally serious. Witches had all sorts of talents that made them one thing or other. Regular Kitchen Witches were gifted in cooking, but Candy Witches stuck to treats.
Granny’s store was named The Sweet Shoppe, and she was famous for her delectable goodies. So popular, in fact, that she had her own delivery route and trucks to supply restaurants, department stores, and boutiques with her specialty goods. The Sweet Shoppe delivered all up and down the entire east coast.
Granny’s talents were such that she not only created the perfect confections with just the right amount of sugar and spice, but her Magic allowed a customer who indulged to be transported back to their childhood’s happiest memories. It was comfort food to a t.
Perfection in every confection.
That was her slogan, and I could not be prouder of my heritage. The Sweet Shoppe was only recently incorporated. And by recent, I meant in the last sixty years or so. But there was always a Bellamy owned shop to be found somewhere throughout history.
Ever since my ancestors came to America, one Bellamy or other had owned and operated a candy or dessert boutique somewhere in the continental united States for the past eight generations. I was destined to inherit Granny’s legacy, which is why I was going to get my MBA.
I’d been groomed for the job, learning all her secret recipes and techniques before I left for school. Heck, even my name was chosen with that in mind.
All the Bellamy Witches had first names starting with C. My father, Claude, had carried on the tradition with my name. It was also something of a
