Foreword
Twas just an ordinary day,
Nothing announced what would ensue,
No hint to me made its way through
But there she was, strolling my way.
With no glamour, rather timid,
She looked at this stranger shyly.
I looked at her quite rapidly
But yet my thoughts tempered my speed.
She was different, genuine, austere,
Attired so not to be noticed,
Nothing that could reveal the bliss
That was concealed within her sphere…
But when resigned she went north-bound,
Leaving me dull, in profound pain,
From my heart the tears that yet drain
In these pages their echo found.
True love given from God above
Brands hearts where it chooses harbor.
It never sways in its ardor,
But brightly glows in their alcove.
Tween Us Two
Tween New York and Connecticut,
Tween a job here and a job there,
Tween a smoothie and a doughnut
My mind’s curtain suffers a tear
And you appear fresh and uncut.
Tween my short night and my long day,
Tween all the care I so provide,
Tween the times I forget to pray,
I pray mournfully deep inside
For what one day I sent away.
Tween the way home and way to work
Tween the false hopes suffered often,
Tween a thought that my spirit perks
And the rest my spirit dampens
I think of me as a sad jerk.
Tween the wives and the you-know-who’s,
Tween the many ones gone too soon,
Tween the ones who remind of you
My heart replays like a cartoon
This love that once was tween us two.
Forever
Now that we’ve entered forever,
Now that we met at the crossroad,
Now that, at the age of silver,
For life we are blest to reload
On someone to ride the front seat,
On someone to worry about,
To share the joys and the defeats,
The seasons of rain and of drought.
Once again since we have the chance
To hold the taste of what’s so dear,
To rekindle our dear romance
Against all the odds and the fears,
We can, since we are empowered,
Safeguard this recovered treasure.
We can, since we have been showered
With blessings beyond our measure.
We will therefore, at light of dawn
Give thanks for what we don’t deserve.
And when the moon shines on the lawn
We will pray our love to preserve.
So many times in history
People given this chance once more,
Taking for granted His mercy,
Had lost what they so bargained for.
We paid a price of heavy toll
With long years of sorrow and pain.
We should avoid any dice roll
That’d jeopardize this love again.
So now that you are in my arms,
Now that I can hold you so tight.
Now that I, laden by your charms,
Will get to kiss you through the night,
I solemnly, to the Heavens,
Declare my overdue promise
To be yours until my life ends,
Cherish you till my heartbeats cease.
My Beloved Wife
She wakes up in the morning,
Jovial like a bird singing.
It’s always a reflection
Of dreams she doesn’t mention.
Then shortly she disappears,
Her voice remains in my ears.
So my cloudy mind pictures,
In the bathroom, her gestures.
She emerges from the steam,
Full of vigor as it seems.
The smile brightening her face
Makes me long for her embrace.
Her frail body maneuvers,
Graciously moves and offers
With the light barely dawning
A spectacle worth watching.
She slowly makes arrangements
And revises all garments.
She knows she is monitored,
She performs to be savored.
The few bites of her first meal,
The make-up she applies still,
All carefully enacted,
All lovingly presented.
Then comes the moment sublime.
I close my eyes for my prime.
Tenderly she comes to me,
Her face closing in slowly,
Kisses me repeatedly,
Makes me promise to only
Think of her all through the day.
Then to work she’s on her way.
Then I turn over and pray,
Give thanks for days like today
And thinking of tomorrow,
Hope for the same scenario.
Our Time
There’ll be a time for me and you
When love will come back to settle
All accounts so long overdue,
When fears were still kind and gentle.
There’ll be a time for me and you
When hand in hand we’ll have the choice
To grieve over what we’ve been through
Or for our gained wisdom rejoice.
There’ll be a time for me and you
For then wrapped up in Nature’s arms
We will savor what is so true;
The treasures of our inner charms.
There’ll be a time for me and you
That will stifle all the false hopes
That crush hearts, bodies and souls too,
Setting a stage for us to mope.
So here’s the time for me and you.
Daffodils and lilacs galore
Adorning the stage for us two
To perform love just as before.
Junie, My Angel
Junie my angel
Junie my sweet dove
Come close and dispel
My nightmares of love
Junie my promise
Junie torn apart
Come so I dismiss
All the scars that keep us apart
Junie my angel
Junie peaceful soul
Come out of your shell
Return what you stole
Junie my soulmate
Junie my sweetheart
Come and reinstate
My most treasured part.
Come open the cage
You should have the key
Or break the bondage
It’s not that risky
To start a new stage
Where we can write our love story
Junie meek and mild
Junie all alone
Come my blessed child
Come and take your throne
Reign over this land
Parched and desolate
Your time is at hand
Come and change its fate.
Junie fair lady
Junie my godsent
My sole melody
Come give your consent
End this tragedy
My plane long started its descent.
Junie my angel
Junie please be bold
People will come tell
What they know of old
Don’t buy any tale
That could make you cold
Their stories are stale
I long paid my toll.
Junie my sunshine
Junie my blue sky
Junie child on mine
Junie sweet and shy,
Be my angel fine
Please, don’t let Heaven pass us by
Junie my angel
Junie my refrain
Come write our gospel
And so crush my pain
Open up your mind
Wash your thoughts away
Deep inside you’ll find
What the Lord has lay
For our souls to bind
And journey His way
Junie lucky charm
Junie my lifeguard
Open up your arms
Do not disregard
This poor castaway
With gesturing cries
If you go away
He will surely lie down and die.
Us Two
Just by the thought of you
My heart comes genuflex,
Just the mere thought of you,
Right there my mind reflects
On the tender moments
Stolen from your routine,
The wrenching sentiments
That right along they bring.
The sudden summer rain
Can no
