    History of Cavite Province

CAVITE IS A PROVINCE located in the southwestern part of Luzon, Philippines. It is bordered by the provinces of Laguna to the east, Metro Manila to the northeast, and Batangas to the south. Cavite is known as The Historical Capital of the Philippines due to its rich history and culture.

The earliest inhabitants of Cavite were Tagalogs who settled in what is now known as Kawit in 1571. The area was then called Taytay or Kawit which means hook because it was shaped like a hook when viewed from a distance. In 1572, Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi declared Cavite as part of New Spain and established its capital at San Roque (now Imus).

In 1614, Spanish friars founded San Diego de Alcala (now Cavite City) which became an important port for trading with China and other countries in Asia. During this period, many churches were built throughout Cavite such as Sts Peter & Paul Church (1614), Our Lady of Solitude Church (1615), Immaculate Conception Church (1618) and St Augustine Church (1737).

In 1762 during the Seven Years War between Britain and France, British forces led by General William Draper captured Manila Bay including parts of Cavite Province. The British occupation lasted until 1764 when they were forced out by Spanish forces led by Governor-General Simon de Anda y Salazar who recaptured Manila Bay for Spain.

During this period there was also an uprising against Spanish rule led by Filipino priest Father Mariano Gomez who formed a secret society called Katipunan which aimed to overthrow Spanish rule in the Philippines through armed struggle. This eventually led to Philippine Revolution against Spain which began on August 26th 1896 with an attack on San Juan del Monte Fort near Manila Bay where Filipino revolutionaries fought against Spanish troops under General Emilio Aguinaldo's command . On June 12th 1898 Philippine independence from Spain was declared at Kawit Town Hall after Aguinaldo's forces defeated remaining Spanish troops at Battle of Alapan near Imus City .

After gaining independence from Spain , Aguinaldo established his government at Malolos City , Bulacan but later moved it back to Kawit where he proclaimed himself President on January 23rd 1899 . During this time , many battles between Filipino revolutionaries and American forces took place throughout Cavite Province such as Battle of Binakayan-Dalahican , Battle Of Zapote Bridge , Battle Of Alapan II etc . Eventually American forces defeated Filipino revolutionaries leading them into exile or surrendering them into captivity .

After World War II ended in 1945 , Philippine independence from America was declared on July 4th 1946 with Manuel Roxas becoming first president under new Republic Constitution . Since then , Cavite has become one major economic hubs within Greater Metro Manila Area due its strategic location close proximity towards ports & airports along with industrial parks & business centers being developed around province over years making it one most progressive provinces within country today .

    Economy of Cavite Province

CAVITE PROVINCE IS located in the Calabarzon region of the Philippines and is one of the most economically prosperous provinces in the country. The province has a total land area of 1,845 square kilometers and a population of 3.7 million people
