The Complete Guide to Sound Healing - David Gibson

SECTION I – HOW IT ALL WORKS

Chapter 1 – The Basis of How It All Works – Chaos vs. Consistency

At the simplest level all Sound Healing is based on consistent stable vibrations instead of chaotic vibrations. There are two types of vibrations: Chaotic and Consistent (Coherent).

    Chaotic Waveform

    Consistent Waveform

Chaotic vibrations can be created in us physically, mentally, emotionally and maybe even Spiritually. Chaotic physical vibrations show up as tension, pain, weakness in organs and physical disease. Chaotic emotions include fear, anxiety, anger, pain and stress, to name a few. All of these emotions are associated with chaotic sounds. Scattered or stressful thoughts or inability to focus are how chaos manifests mentally. It is hard to say how chaos shows up Spiritually. I would think that by definition there is no chaos that comes from the Spiritual realm. It is often chaos in our life, physically, mentally and emotionally that interrupt our Spiritual connection and coherence.

Chaotic vibrations break down the body, regardless of whether they come from: physically, mentally, emotionally or Spiritually. They are not good for your heart, your nervous system, your organs, or any part of the body.

On the other hand, coherent vibrations not only bring the body to homeostasis, but they also resonate the vibration of health and have the capacity of healing the body.

    When the body is healthy,

every single part of the body (cells, organs and all parts)

are naturally vibrating consistently instead of chaotically.

The basis of all Sound Healing

    is Consistent Vibration

Most Sound Healing instruments create a stable, consistent vibration. That would be any sound that is elongated, like a drone. This includes all of the vowels as in toning. This also includes crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, gongs, didgeridoos, or any instrument that is capable of playing long sustain notes. Consistent rhythms also have a similar effect. This would include drums, percussion and the voice. Chants and mantras create both stable sounds and rhythms.

    At the most basic level,

all sounds and instruments in Sound Healing

create consistency in the body physically, mentally, emotionally

    and even Spiritually.

The key (and most important concept in the whole book) is

    Peace

    is a Frequency

    Humming Consistently

This is why most people like Sound Healing concerts and treatments even when a practitioner may not even know what they are doing. At the most basic level, it is instilling peace through consistent vibrations.

Chapter 2 – The Four Levels of How Sound Affects Us - Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually.

There are four main areas of our system where sound has been proven to be effective. Obviously, these areas often overlap. An emotional release can make a physical pain go away, or a Spiritual breakthrough can clear the mind and help create focus.

    Physically

When it comes to how sound affects matter, the science is extremely definitive. Physics explains how sound affects matter in detail; it is not just the placebo effect. We go into detail on the laws of resonance in Section II, where these underlying laws of physics completely dispel the notion that Sound Healing is based on superstition (or woo-woo) and lacking scientific basis.

This is really important, because if someone doesn’t believe in a healing modality, it is much less likely to work. If someone does believe in it, it will normally work (this has even been proven to be the case with something as physically based as chemotherapy). Belief systems can override physical reality – and commonly do.

The most important concept physically is that everything in the body has its own natural frequency that it vibrates at when it is healthy. Once we know the resonant frequency of something, there are several proven ways that sound can be used to cause changes in matter.

When we find that resonate frequency and play a sound that matches it, it actually feeds energy into the object. This could be a cell, an organ, or any part of the body. Also, when we use vibration to trigger a natural resonance in something, we are effectively massaging it – loosening it up and causing more flow. This can be extremely effective for an organ like the heart, or for relaxing muscles.

    The most important concept is:

When a part of the body is vibrating in a way that is not healthy,

playing its own natural frequency to it will entrain it back into its healthy state.

This is the basis of a new medical system.

However, the problem is we currently do not know the resonant frequencies of many cells and parts of the body. There are many charts of frequencies that have been published, but very few of them actually have definitive research backing them. Also, it is likely that the frequency of each part of the body is different from person to person (more on this later).

If you play a sound that matches a resonant frequency, then turn the volume up, you can explode the object. In physics this is called destructive resonance. The process of breaking up kidney stones with ultrasound would be an example of this. They first find the resonant frequency of the stones and then turn the volume up to break them up. This same concept is now being used to destroy a full range of cancers in the body.

Sound is also extremely effective in helping to get rid of pain. Pain receptors can only handle so much information, so when you fill them up with sound, they can no longer transmit pain impulses. Later we’ll discuss many techniques and technologies for overcoming a wide range of types of pain. In just about every case, the pain goes away.

There are many tools for creating physical changes in the body: the voice, crystal bowls, tuning forks, and tone generators to name a few. Tuning forks are extremely effective for relieving pain. The voice is incredibly effective when used directly on the body.

Probably the most effective is the use of frequencies based on Cymatics. These are frequencies that have been researched in detail. There are frequencies for just about every part of the body. Go to https://soundhealingcenter.com/store/music/cmusic/ to check out the CDs based on Cymatics that we offer. When used with the Bass Pod (a small subwoofer that you place right on the pain point (unless too sensitive), it is profoundly effective. So much so that Kaiser Hospital is referring patients to us for pain management. We’ll discuss frequencies in more detail in Chapter 9.

The most obvious is using sound and music to relax or go into a high state of consciousness, whether in a treatment or a sound bath. This commonly creates an overall sense of wellbeing and peace, causing the body’s natural healing response to kick in. It is well known that when the body is at peace it can dramatically boost the immune system. Often the right kind of sound and music work to create a more harmonious flow in many of the systems in the body – including the skeletal system, nervous, system, muscular system, digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, and endocrine system.

It has also been shown that you can actually create very specific vitamins and minerals in the body by playing the frequency of the vitamin or mineral in the body. In one study, a frequency was shown to increase the oxygen content of the blood.

Besides musical instruments or voice, there is also the tool of intention. When you hold an intention for a positive outcome (as in prayer), you are transmitting a frequency via the quantum field. Intention has been proven in many clinical studies. Lynne McTaggart covers all of these experiments in her book, The Intention Experiment.

When intention is coupled with sound, it can have a profound effect on the physical body. Additionally, when the energy of Love, Spirit or Source is incorporated into the sound dramatic changes can happen to parts of the body, or to all parts and systems in the body. Go to https://soundhealingcenter.com/love/miracles/ to see many miracle stories.

    Mentally

When it comes to brainwave entrainment, the science is also extremely definitive and proven in many clinical studies.

There has been extensive clinical research clearly proving that when we listen to rhythms within the range of a brainwave (beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta) our brain will be entrained into that frequency within a few minutes. Any rhythm will create this effect. Our brain is designed to synchronize to every rhythm around us. When you have two frequencies that are very close to each other they create a rhythm called binaural beats, which are especially effective in getting the brain to into a particular brainwave state. An EEG unit connected to the brain clearly shows the brain’s synchronization when exposed to a binaural beat rhythm.

You can also use two tone generators, two tuning forks, or two bowls to create this entrainment effect.

The various brainwave states commonly help with a variety of issues including ADD, ADHD, post-traumatic stress, learning disabilities, brain injuries and sleep disorders, including enhancing mental clarity, memory, and creativity. When we listen on headphones these frequencies also synchronize the left and right brain, which is our optimal state.

There is now research showing how to use these binaural beat frequencies to entrain our brain into deep states of meditation, higher emotions of love and joy, and even a place where a person is one with the Universe.

At the most basic level, sound, music and rhythms create consistent vibrations mentally that are the basis of stable focus. Also, when our thoughts are focused and flow smoothly like a sweet song, we have less stress in our life, and better overall health.

    Emotionally

We already know how music can dramatically transform our emotions. There has been a huge amount of research from the Music Therapy field on how music affects us emotionally. And now, HeartMath has performed detailed research on how emotions show up in our body physiologically. Quantum physics is also getting closer to explaining the emotional world. Still, the science is not completely understood – especially the relationship between emotions and the physical, mental and Spiritual bodies.

Emotional transformation is one of the most profoundly effective areas in the field of sound healing and sound therapy. People commonly report emotional relief and complete transformation in their lives after a sound bath or treatment. Now, many have developed detailed protocols for transforming emotions with sound. Therapists are now coupling sound techniques with psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and many other emotionally-based therapies, often with profound results well beyond traditional therapies alone.

Many in the field of healing believe that stuck emotions account for as much as 100% of the issues and diseases we manifest. They say that toxins from our environment wouldn’t affect us if we didn’t have an emotional opening.

Emotions inside us are actually very similar to sound and music. When we think of emotions as music, it is all about smooth flow. The problem is when an emotion gets stuck like a broken record.

We can also think of emotions as sounds (timbres or tonalities). Emotions like fear, anxiety or anger that are associated with chaotic vibrations will break down our system if they are around long enough. Emotions like gratitude, love or joy that are associated with consistent or coherent sounds that are known to heal the body.

The truth is, as babies and children we were professional sound healers. If we had any emotion, we would immediately make the sound of it and let it out – like, Wahhh. Then around the age of one or two, we are told to quiet down. Then, when we get into school we hear, NO MORE SOUND. The trick is to re-learn that God given ability that we had down in the first place.

We will be sharing simple techniques on how to release emotions, including many that you can do in the car, when in the thick of an emotion, or… in a professional sound therapy setting.

Aside from our emotions, the other thing that prevents us from manifesting great relationships, health, and wealth in our lives is the frequency of our subconscious beliefs. The most common culprit is simply, I am not good enough. Based on laws of resonance (which are the basis of the Law of Attraction) these deep resonant patterns keep attracting what we don’t want or need. We will be covering a profound set of techniques for using sound and intention to completely transform these errant sounds and songs into those that aid in our happiness and expansion.

    Spiritually

The wonders of the music of the future will be of a higher & wider scale and will introduce many sounds that the human ear is now incapable of hearing. Among these new sounds will be the glorious music of angelic chorales. As men hear these they will cease to consider Angels as figments of their imagination.

    - Mozart (1756-1791)

Sound and music have been used since the beginning of time in all cultures to help bring us into a state of spiritual healing, harmony and awakening. Science has done little to help us with understanding and resonating higher spiritual realms. However, again, the study of quantum physics is on the leading edge of making sense of it all. But once again, in this realm, understanding is not nearly as important as experiencing the unimaginable benefits.

Most people think of spiritual healing as a process whereby we clear out negative emotions and belief systems, so that we can more clearly resonate love and light. Some people focus on techniques to gain more mental clarity, so we aren’t led onto roller coasters and dead-end traps fraught with anxiety and repetitive thoughts. We have relegated these types of issues to the mental and emotional sections of the book

For this book (at the risk of upsetting any spiritual tradition) I am defining the Spiritual realm by three main areas: higher emotions, connection to the Soul, and connection to Spirit or Source Energy. I know this is simplifying the whole spiritual world, however it seems necessary in order to make headway. We will also be discussing how to use sound for presence and mindfulness, harmonizing chakras and auras with sound, and the sound of love.

Whenever you resonate sound with any higher emotion such as gratitude, compassion, love or joy (to name only a few), you create a stronger resonant field, which not only affects you and your body in a deeper way, but also goes out into world and affects the planet and Universe in a more profound way.

Connecting to the Frequency of Your Soul

A wise man seeks by music to strengthen his soul: the thoughtless one uses it to stifle his fears.

    - Confucius (551-479 BC)

Many Spiritual teachings talk about returning to your Soul. Science has shown us that because everything is vibration, so even our Soul must be a frequency. Therefore, one way of connecting to your Soul, and all the information that comes with it, is to simply find its frequency and resonate with it. This also brings you into the profound consistency and stillness of the Soul’s vibration.

The spiritual books on ancient wisdom, by Alice Bailey say that the frequency of our Soul is the same from lifetime to lifetime. It is this frequency that carries our essence into each new life. This makes sense because if your Soul were to change frequency you would be a different Soul.

In music, just about every song has a key, or home note. The technical definition of the home note in music theory is the note where you are at rest. For a song to not have a home note, it would have to be complete chaos. Every part of the body is a frequency or note, so we are a symphony of frequencies. Therefore, we must have a home note in our body… because one thing we know for sure is that when the body is healthy it is not chaos – it is complete harmony.

I assume (and believe quite strongly) that the note of your Soul is that note where you are at peace – unless God is messing with us.

We will be explaining how to find this home note for you – where you are at peace. Hospital research has shown that when the human body is vibrating at its home, all organs and systems in the body naturally go into a healthy alignment. We will explain how you can use that frequency of your Soul to come home to yourself… where you are at complete peace.

    Connecting to Spirit and Source

Sound and music can also be used as an avenue to connect us to the higher energies of what many call Spirit, Source, or God. For those who already know how to connect to Spirit, the right sounds and music can enhance that connection and make it even stronger. Certain frequencies can achieve this, but specific sounds (timbres) or passages in a song are often more effective. You can also do this energetically with intention. When connecting to Source, whole worlds of unfathomable healing power and levels of consciousness open before us – sometimes beyond our wildest imaginations.

People who have been one with the Universe commonly report that they are one with everything. Therefore, I think of the frequency of God or Source as not being just one frequency in particular, but being all frequencies in the Universe.

Therefore, one avenue to access Source Energy is by tuning into all frequencies in the Universe at once.

Clinical research with EEG monitoring has shown that when a person is in a higher state of consciousness, such as being one with Universe, the brain goes mostly into the brainwave state of Theta, which is simply of a particular speed of rhythm or tempo.

Whenever you tune into more than one thing at a time simultaneously (even just two things at once), your brain also goes into the rhythm of Theta. Theta is a really peaceful state of mind. We commonly go into this state of peace and calm when we tune into multiple things at once, such as: Many sparkles on the water, everything in a view, all the instrument sounds in a mix, all of the harmonics in a sound healing instrument, or the detailed complexity of all of the sounds in a gong. Just about every sound healing instrument, including the voice, comes with a large amount of complexity, which can bring us into Theta.

Therefore, the sounds of sound healing can be a portal to a state of Universal Consciousness where we are also in Theta. In fact, when you tune Theta to the person, it can be especially effective. More on this later.

We will share multiple techniques so that you can experience the ultimate state of bliss and healing – and know how to access it whenever you want.

At the most basic level all sound healing creates consistent vibrations in us. I would say that Spirit and Source are the most consistent vibrations in the Universe. So, it works both ways: You can use sound to access the peace of Source Energy, or you can use Source Energy to create a strong resonant field in yourself and on the planet.

Chapter 3 – Consistency as Higher Consciousness

People often talk about raising your vibration. I believe this is a misnomer. Health and higher consciousness are actually not about higher frequencies at all. They are about stable and consistent vibrations.

This consistency manifests in slightly different ways physically, mentally, emotionally, and Spiritually.

Physically, it is about having each part of the body resonating at the frequency that it is meant to resonate at – no higher or lower. From cells to organs, every part should vibrate at its own natural resonance in order contribute to perfect harmony within the symphony that we are.

Once we know the specific frequency of a cell or organ when it is healthy, we can then vibrate that part of the body back into its healthy state when it has gone awry. Every single part of the body has its own natural frequency that it prefers to resonate at. The key is to entrain the body back into its own natural consistent frequency. This is the basis of a new system of medicine. This will require detailed research to find the natural healthy frequency of each and every part of the body for each individual – because I’ve come to believe that the frequencies are different from person to person. This is the focus our GeneOM project – to map every healthy frequency in the body in order to be able to resonate it back into its healthy state – with zero side effects. More on this later.

On a mental level, when we are stable, we are less affected by outside energies and are much better at focusing our attention and intention. Using EEG, it has been shown that when in high states of consciousness or deep states of meditation, our brainwaves actually both go really high and really low at the same time. We exhibit extremely fast brainwaves of Gamma (more than 30 cycles per second), and extremely slow brainwaves of Epsilon (less than .5 cycles per second) simultaneously. Therefore, higher consciousness is not just higher – it is higher and lower at the same time.

Emotionally, it is also about consistency. In fact, when people make the sound of anxiety, it is often expressed as a very high frequency. When asked to express the sound of compassion people often make a lower frequency sound with the voice.

You can think of lower emotions such as anger, fear and anxiety as chaotic and dissonant energies. Some sounds associated with these emotions might be gxgxgx or ickckck or grurrrr. These sounds are grating and distorted. Again, when you look at the actual waveform of such a sound it even looks chaotic.

    Chaotic Waveform

On the other hand, the higher emotions of gratitude, compassion, love and joy are associated with coherent and consistent vibrations. Whenever, I ask a person or group to express the sound of these higher emotions, they always make vowel sounds. Emotions such as gratitude, compassion, love and joy are often expressed with uu, oh, ah, eh, or ee. They stay on the same note and have no random waver or noise. The actual waveform of a vowel is very symmetrical and consistent in its shape.

    Consistent Waveform

Therefore, emotions are distinguished more by incoherence or purity than by higher or lower frequencies.

Again, consistency creates peace. We gain a huge amount of peace from the stability of the higher emotions. Being in love is soooo peaceful. Universal Love creates a profound stillness. There is nothing more peaceful than being one with the Universe.

Again, consistency and peace are not only healing and support our health in every way, they can make us feel really good and get us quite high!

Spiritually, it is also all about consistency and stability of vibration. Spiritual leaders are incredibly still. We go to sit with them in Satsang in order to feel and take in their stillness.

When I am one with Source (in the zone, so to speak) I feel the most incredibly consistent peace ever. People commonly describe the same consistency when explaining their experience of oneness.

I believe the Soul (which is always connected to Source) is also unwaveringly stable and consistent. The Soul never wobbles. I believe the Soul is the most peaceful vibration within us.

Nature and the earth are also incredibly consistent vibrations. Later we will talk about the consistency found in the flow and patterns of nature.

    Higher Consciousness as Higher Frequency

Spiritually-speaking, there could actually be something to tuning into higher frequencies with our point of awareness.

I know people who say they actually tune into extremely high frequencies (above 10,000 hertz) in order to access higher states of consciousness.

I also know of many Spiritual leaders that talk about different dimensions that we can access. Some talk about 12 dimensions, some talk about 18 dimensions. They say these dimensions hold different states of consciousness and even higher beings, and they are simply resonating at higher frequencies. It’s like tuning a radio station carrier frequency to a higher vibration.

Maybe one day we will be able to access these other dimensions of reality by simply attuning to a tone generator that is playing a higher frequency. Perhaps 10,000 or even 30,000 hertz might take us to a whole new world.

One Spiritual leader said that as you go higher with frequencies the difference between individual frequencies gets smaller and smaller so it comes to a something like a single point. She said it is like being on top of a mountain looking down.

More to come in years to come as we learn or are shown.

At all levels of reality, consistency is the basic key.

When we resonate with any consistent sound we find profound peace.

Once again, peace from stable vibrations at any one level can create peace in another level. Peace in the Spiritual realm can create peace of mind. Emotional peace can create profound healing and stability in the body. Mental peace brings focus and clarity of mind, and physical peace brings health. All of them together bring peace to your entire being.

We will also take this discussion to a whole new expanded level when we discuss the consistency and peace that is found in the relationships between frequencies and sounds and in the smooth flow that is found in music.

Chapter 4 – One Home Frequency vs. A Full Range of Frequencies

    OM is

    Where the Heart Is

    One Home Frequency

There are two basic schools of thought in the field of Sound Healing.

The first is that each person has a unique resonant frequency that is the core of who they are. I have come to strongly believe that home is a basic need when it comes to our whole being and all of its parts.

It is also the tempo of the rhythm of our own natural metabolism. It is an average of our heart rate and the natural rhythm of our brainwaves when we are healthy and in a state of complete peace and homeostasis. When we find that note and rhythm our immune system flourishes. All organs go into alignment. Disease falls away and we become healthier. Peace is also a place where we are more creative and can act as a portal to other dimensions, where we experience oneness with the Universe and know all.

If this is actually your Soul note it could lead you into higher states of consciousness and ultimately to your own Soul purpose.

At the Institute (and online) we find this note by playing each of the 12 notes to see which one makes a person the most peaceful, calm and still. When at peace, symptoms often disappear.

Many researchers in the field also subscribe to this concept in one form or another. A study conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson at Scripps Hospital in San Diego, showed that when one finds and listens to their central processor frequency, the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems come into balance, and the rest of your system comes into a healthy alignment.

We have a built-in need to return to the home note – whether it is in music, a sound or our Soul. Home is where the peace is.

    In Music

In music theory, the definition of the home note is the note where we are at rest. It is the resolution; it is the note where we don’t feel the need to go anywhere else; it is where we are at peace.

The home note in music can be calculated mathematically, but just about everyone can feel it when it is played. In music, the home note is the key of the song. In jazz music, musicians will often try to avoid the home note. In Sound Healing music, however, we go to the home note often. When you play an instrument that is only one note, like a crystal bowl, it automatically becomes the home note.

    In Sounds

Most sounds have multiple frequencies in them called harmonics (which we’ll discuss later). However, even though a single sound is made up of multiple notes, our brain focuses only on the home note. In sound, that note we tend to pick up and hone in on within the overall conglomeration of harmonics present in the sound is called the root or fundamental tone. Even if the fundamental is missing in a sound (like with an oboe), our brain will actually make it up! So, again, we are very focused on the home note.

In Sound Healing, the home plays an important role in bringing us into a state of peace. In fact, it is the key to much of the physical, mental, emotional, and Spiritual healing process.

Physically, every single cell, organ and part of the body has a home note. In physics it is called the resonant frequency of the object. Research has shown that every cell in our body has its own home note; every organ in the body has its own home note. Also, when we attune to our own natural home rhythm of the heart and brain, we are more at peace. When we are in tune with our own home note or rhythm, we feel more grounded.

We all sing when we speak. Therefore, we all sing in a certain key when we talk. When we express love, we commonly go to the home note of the key of our voice. We also go to this home note when we are sincere. The note of key of our voice is the easiest note to make and requires the least amount of energy to create. Therefore, it is also the best note for toning (singing a vowel).

Emotionally, we are also looking to get to a resolve. When there is stuck emotion, for instance, it is as though that emotion hasn’t had the opportunity to resolve to the home note. When emotions are allowed to flow, on the other hand, they naturally resolve to a state of peace.

Mentally, our thoughts keep repeating until we come to the home note or resolve. Once complete, we never think about it again, unless we come across someone else who may be stuck in the same place we were.

Spiritually, when we are in touch with the ultimate home note – our Soul – we are at complete peace no matter what happens. We experience a profound state of equanimity and stillness.

Stillness does not ensue from any other note, like it does when we come home.

    A Full Range of Frequencies

The second school of thought is that we need a balance of all frequencies. This is the basis of the research done by Dr. Alfred Tomatis that says that every frequency is a nutrient. This is the same concept as vitamin therapy. Find what is deficient within the system and balance out the full spectrum of frequencies by taking in the missing frequency.

This is the basis for the dozen or so voice analysis companies that find the frequencies that are missing in a person’s system. The remedy is normally to then resonate these missing frequencies back into your system by playing them through speakers, headphones, using scalar waves or by toning.

Some systems have you tone or sing the missing notes, listen to the frequencies on a sound table, or listen to a bowl, tuning fork or song in the key of the missing note. It has been shown in detailed long-term research projects that when a person is missing a certain pitch or frequency in their voice, they are actually missing essential nutrients that can affect organs in the body and create disease. Some research has also pointed to missing certain frequencies as being the cause of autism.

Most voice analysis systems focus on what is wrong, with the positive intention of balancing out all of the frequencies. Whereas, finding your home note is more about focusing on what is right. It seems that the concept of replacing frequencies that are missing is more helpful for what is going on at a particular moment or time in your life, whereas finding your home note is always good regardless of when and what is going on.

Some people in the field are very adamant about one of the schools of thought. I strongly believe that both approaches are completely valid and useful and we’ll be exploring both concepts and practices throughout the book.

SECTION II - THE LAWS OF RESONANCE BASED ON PHYSICS

Only by observing and absorbing the true nature of things — by apprehending the rhythms and cycles that guide all creation — can we discover the laws that apply to our own individual lives.

    - I Ching

Chapter 5 – The Laws of Resonance and Entrainment – Keys to Creating Change

There are certain laws of resonance that I learned about in my physics class at the University of California, Berkeley. These laws explain how vibration works not just on the level of sound, but rather on all levels of reality. These laws also apply to music, electromagnetics, color, light, geometry and the quantum world. This is important because vibration is more powerful and effective when we are in alignment with these laws of nature.

Different sounds do different things to us based on these laws of physics. However, because intention is the most powerful vibration of all, even if someone doesn’t know what sounds are best for specific purposes, they can still receive incredible results. However, when intention and the right instruments and sounds are used, effectiveness is much more powerful.

It is also important to understand how vibration works because belief systems are so powerful. If someone doesn’t believe something will work, chances are it won’t. If someone does believe in something, the chances are much higher that it will work. This is not only important for a client or patient, but also when you understand how the science behind how things work, you will also believe in it more yourself, thus making whatever you do with sound even more effective.

Most importantly, as the masses come to understand how sound really works physically, mentally, emotionally and Spiritually, it will gain more acceptance. Then, we can make even more headway in getting sound into hospitals. Ultimately, we can take back our power to heal ourselves and others.

All of the laws of resonance in this chapter come from physics.

They are based on proven science.

Resonance is the ability of one thing to cause another thing to vibrate.

Entrainment is when one rhythm causes another to synchronize. However, many people use the term entrainment to mean resonance.

Here’s the outline of this chapter:

    1. Everything is Vibration

    2. Everything Has Its Own Resonant Frequency – Everything has a particular frequency that it prefers to vibrate at.

    3. Triggering Natural Resonance with Energy

    4. Sympathetic Resonance – Two things vibrating at the same frequency.

    5. Resonant Fields – Two objects that have the same resonant frequency create a field around them that is measurable.

    6. Dominant (Forced) Resonance – A stronger vibration will overcome and entrain a weaker vibration into the same vibration as the stronger.

    7. Transformative Resonance – A stronger vibration transforms the weaker vibration forever.

    8. Chaotic Vibrations Can Break Up Blockages

    9. Destructive Resonance – Find the resonant frequency and turn the volume up to explode something.

    10. Consistent Vibrations are More Powerful – The more consistent a vibration is without distortion or distraction, the more powerful it is.

    11. Similar Vibrations Attract (The Law of Attraction)

Now let’s look at each of these laws of resonance in more detail.

Resonance was discovered by Galileo Galilei

with his investigations of pendulums beginning in 1602

(although the ancients certainly understood how it all works)

    1. Everything is Vibration

Everything in the universe is vibrating. Science has proven this and we know it intuitively. If something is not vibrating, it doesn’t exist.

There is nothing more basic than vibration at every level of reality. Even numbers carry different vibrations. Therefore, when you understand how everything works at the vibration level you are at the source. You are then given the keys to the Universe.

    2. Everything Has Its Own Resonant Frequency

Everything has a particular frequency that it prefers to vibrate at – and we mean everything. That would include all physical matter, electromagnetics, light, and the quantum world (including thought forms and emotions).

It’s like everything in the universe has its own note that it was meant to sing, and it naturally vibrates at that particular frequency. In fact, this is what makes it what it is!

In fact, scientists often define many things based on their vibrational rate. Even each element is vibrating at a different frequency. Even our entire Universe has its own frequency. And, some say there are many Universes, each with their own frequencies.

At the quantum level, every thought form is a frequency. There are also resonant frequencies for each of the emotions – good or bad. When we find the actual frequency of an emotion, for example, it amplifies its energy. Fear, anger, worry, and even depression have their own resonance. In fact, there are also resonant frequencies for gratitude, joy, love, compassion and spirit. The key is that when you find the frequency of any of these emotions, you can then use that sound or frequency to invoke that emotion and make it stronger. We already commonly do this with music. If we want to be happy, we play a happy song.

It follows that chakras and subtle bodies, or auras, must also have their own resonant frequencies.

Even Soul, and Spirit and Source have their own particular vibration. When you find the resonant frequency of your Soul, I believe you can access its profound peace, wisdom and purpose.

Resonance at the quantum level is still being explored, researched and understood. One of the basic concepts is that whenever there is a resonant frequency within us that matches a resonant frequency in another we are entangled. In the beginning before the big bang, everything was one resonant frequency. So, in a way, we are still all one. Science has proven without a doubt that once something is entangled, when you change one component, it affects all the other resonant components across the Universe (in real time with no delay). Therefore, you could say that resonance accounts for the fact that we are all one!!

To find the frequency of something and to resonate at the same vibration is the basis of connecting to anything. At its most profound level, this is love.

    Based on physics,

the resonant frequency of something is stored energy.

When you trigger its resonant frequency it releases this energy.

When you hit a crystal bowl with a felt wand it vibrates at its own resonant frequency, putting out more energy than was given by the wand. The bowl releases its own stored energy.

The same actually happens when you play the resonant frequency of a cell or part of the body. It releases its own energy, which contributes to its natural healthy state.

As we’ll discuss later, even when something is made up of multiple frequencies it will still have one fundamental frequency that is the basis of all the others.

    3. Triggering Natural Resonance

When you hit a bowl (crystal or Tibetan) with wand or stick it will sing out at its own natural resonant frequency even though the wand or stick is not the same frequency as the bowl. You simply trigger its own vibration by giving it energy.

Of course, this is not the case with everything. If you hit a person, they don’t vibrate at their own natural frequency.

    4. Sympathetic Resonance

If you sing or play a note at the resonant frequency of something you can get it to sing its note, so to speak. This is called sympathetic resonance.

You can generally sing into an acoustic guitar and some of the strings will start vibrating – that is, if you happen to sing the same note that the string is already tuned to. You can do the same with a wine glass or a room full of crystal bowls.

Another example of this type of resonance is that whenever we hear a word, our brain searches its database for a word that resonates the exact same structure or frequency. This is how we understand things. The same process happens when we see anything. When we see a car, our brain searches its database and looks for resonances that match a car. We then recognize it as a car. Of course, this happens at a speed faster than light.

The most amazing thing is when two things have the same resonant frequency, they sometime trigger each other.

The best example of this is love – one heart triggering another.

    5. Resonant Fields

When two things trigger each other, they actually create a field of energy around them, creating a field that is greater than the two of them resonating separately. It’s called a resonant field, and is measurable scientifically.

The best example of this is when two individuals are in love. One experiences love for the other and that love is returned, forming a beautiful circle of that energy. You can even sense the field around them. This is obvious when you are in love. It seems that there is a bubble of love surrounding the two of you that affects everything around you, not to mention every cell in your body.

Another good example is when two people have the same home note or Soul frequency. When this arises, there is an instant chemistry. More on this later.

Furthermore, the more objects or people you have at the same frequency,

    the stronger the resonant field.

When more than two objects vibrate together in a resonant field, the effect can be incredibly powerful. The best example is when a small group of people resonate a higher emotion like love. When a large audience comes into complete harmony with each other at a concert the effect can be profound. When a large number of people on the planet are all resonating love and light at the same time, the field becomes tremendous.

    6. Dominant Resonance - A stronger vibration will entrain a weaker vibration into the same vibration as the stronger

This is the ability of one vibration to change another vibration and is the key engine for change and transformation in the Universe – whether this be on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level. And, the stronger the resonant field, the more powerful the effect.

If there is change in the Universe

    at any level of reality

it is based on this Law

Let us pause for that one to sink in.

This manifests in both positive and negative ways.

    Entraining to Chaotic Vibrations

Negative or chaotic resonances are one of the biggest problems we have to contend with day-today. There are many so-called negative vibrations around us that entrain us into their frequency. Electricity, cell phones, noise of the city, and other people’s fear, anxiety, anger and scattered energy are constantly interrupting our innate peace and consistency.

    Electricity

Electricity is another perfect example. Electricity in our walls is one of the most prominent frequencies in our environment. Even though it is not very loud or strong in intensity, it still affects us dramatically.

They did a study in the United States and asked people, What is the most natural frequency for you? They played the full range of frequencies and over 70% of the people said that 60 hertz was their favorite. 60 hertz is the frequency of electricity in our walls! They did the same study in Europe and again played the full range of frequencies. Over 70% said the 50 hertz was their favorite. 50 hertz is the frequency of electricity in the walls in Europe.

Electricity is not loud, but it is present around us all the time.

A vibration that is consistently present all the time can be as powerful as a loud volume.

Actually, the frequencies of 50 and 60 hertz are not bad frequencies – they can be very healing. However, the problem is that electricity is not stable or consistent. It is extremely erratic, jumping around all over the place. Graphically, they might
