About this ebook

This is the day to take control of her career…

…even if it meant crossing some lines.

Micaela has visions of success. Visions of climbing the corporate ladder, making her own money, and savoring her freedom. Putting her plan in motion, she walks into her boss’s office, wearing what might be mistaken as inappropriate work attire.

Neil nearly goes into heart failure when his assistant arrives for work that morning without undergarments. She is sixteen-years his junior. What could she possibly gain from wanting a relationship with him? Not to mention, he isn’t the marrying kind. He just needs to let her down easy and pray she doesn’t decide to quit.

You’ll love this office romance because finding love sometimes comes about in unconventional ways.

    About the Author

    CHAPTER ONE

    Today was the day.

Micaela had been on the job for one month and quickly gotten into a comfortable routine with her boss, Neil Ross. But Micaela wasn’t interested in comfortable.

She had a ladder to climb. In a male-dominated world, where women made seventy-eight percent of what men made, no thank you. Micaela had her sights set high.

Despite the economy, Micaela was determined to create her own success, her own wealth. Sure, her grades from Lakemont U were good, but she wasn’t banking on that. She was banking on her other assets.

She strolled into the office, stashed her purse, and hung her suit jacket on the back of her chair, then strode into Mr. Ross’s office.

Good morning, sir. Can I get you a cup of coffee? she asked with a smile.

He glanced up from readying his desk for the day. It took several seconds for him to speak. G’morning. Yes, that would be great.

She nodded and smiled to herself. Oh yeah. He noticed.

That morning Micaela dressed in a scarlet red silk blouse, black skirt, and black heels. Her lips and fingernails matched her shirt. Perfectly festive for the Christmas holidays only four weeks away.

One thing she didn’t wear—a bra.

And the cold silk made her nipples perkier.

Phyllis, another assistant, passed her leaving the breakroom and did a doubletake.

    Good morning, Phyllis.

    Good morning, Micaela.

Micaela kept walking. She had success on her mind, even if the first step was as simple as getting her boss coffee. The goal was making him happy.

She returned to find him furrowing his brow at something on his computer. He was a mostly handsome man in his mid-forties, single—although it appeared he’d had a girlfriend—with a respectful management style and a good sense of humor.

She remembered their interview barely two months ago, how at ease he made her feel. She was lucky to have him as a boss.

The question though, did he feel lucky having her as his admin? Time would soon tell.

She set down the coffee and took a sip of her own.

He shifted his sight to the cup, then to her. He reached for the cup.

She could hear him inhale and exhale.

Miss Summer, you look very nice today.

Thanks. I think I’m getting into the Christmas spirit.

    He smiled.

So, what’s on the agenda for today?

He nodded, absently. How about you get settled, and I’ll buzz you in a bit? He motioned to the email awaiting his attention.

Sounds good. She pivoted away to get her day organized. She had emails to go through and decide which were important enough for Mr. Ross to respond to. She had voicemails to retrieve, reports to file, and meetings to set up that Mr. Ross gave her last Friday.

She hoped he watched her walk away. She needed him drawn to her for her plan to work, otherwise… Well, she’d hate to leave this amazing company with great pay, but she would. She’d look for another job where she could fast-track her career. Experts in finance were needed everywhere.

She had a plan, and she’d let nothing get in the way. She didn’t have boyfriends; she had fuck buddies. She had planned dinners with her family every Sunday. And she spent time with her friends, mostly on the weekends, when it didn’t interfere with work.

Well, it wasn’t just work and sleep. Micaela worked hard to look good. She worked out at the gym, got facials, scheduled mani-pedis regularly, and ate right. Again, any and everything to help propel her career forward.

Sure, it was a single-minded focus, but wasn’t that exactly how they described most successful people, usually men, in the world? Determined, singular in focus?

So, if that’s what it took, she was all in.

Day One of her fast-track plan had gone well. The remainder of the week, Micaela had the same plan: braless with a hip hugging skirt and heels. She would work in some snug sweaters in lieu of button-down blouses.

As she got more money, she had some purchases to make: back-seam stockings, lacy undergarments for days when she didn’t go braless, and a garter or two that would be evident under a smooth, straight skirt. That should get Mr. Ross’s attention.

Also, on her To-Do list this week? Change out the buttons on the cream blouse.

She’d wear that next week in the hopes a button or two would give way.

Neil greeted Micaela with a smile, his eyes dropping to her chest.

    Fuck! Stop that!

He couldn’t help where his sight drifted; Micaela hadn’t worn a bra for the past seven working days.

Her gorgeous breasts faintly hidden behind a thin layer of
