    Susanne Schmidt grew up in Germany and fell in love with English while reading Harry Potter and the Earthsea Chronicles. She studied in Spain and the US, earning a B.A. in Journalism from Saint Louis University. She wrote her first poems in fourth grade and has been hooked on writing ever since. She is currently working on a epic fantasy vampire trilogy and an experimental standalone fantasy.       I will keep you in my heart, always.

      SMALL THINGS

      Dew drops hanging from the branches

      Golden in the morning sun.

      You won’t see them if you run

      On by.

      The promise of a flower

      Ready to burst into petaled glory.

      Its beauty lies in the story

      Waiting to unfold.

      The cat catching rays of light

      The smile of a stranger passing.

      We chase time, always rushing.

      Don’t miss it all.

      SPRING I

      Promise of flowers in the air

      don't be fooled,

      the cold is lingering.
