Dedication
I dedicate this book in memory of all who have walked through Job-like experiences: The death of a loved one, divorce, depression, a personal illness, or any of the traumas of life, and survives to bring hope to others.
For such a time as this.
Esther 4:14
Forward
My last seven years have been traumatic for me. I have had to face the harsh reality of losing My father, my mother, two sisters and their husbands, and my oldest brother. Each death brought an evaluation of my own mortality and relationship with each relative.
Recently, my younger brother had several strokes causing him to require assisted living care. As the oldest, a lot of responsibility and personal strength was required to maintain stability and peace in my life. I was also the oldest and most financially stable of my siblings. I spent a great deal of my personal assets on healthcare and final expenses.
As a result, I began to have physical problems and anxiety. My husband, a Chaplain, recommended several books in his extensive library. My daughter enrolled us in a Grief Recovery Program at a hospital. My husband also gave me scriptures from the book of Job that related all the adversity Job had experienced, endured, and conquered.
I was surprised to see myself in the pages of these books. I was also grateful as quietness and confidence
entered my heart, mind, and soul. I was empowered with renewed strength. The heaviness in my heart lifted and I felt alive again.
It is my belief that this little book, Affirmations from the Book of Job, can help heal a broken, battered, and bruised soul. I know that it helped my own broken heart to heal.

Introduction
Everyone goes through stress, trouble, discouragement, or grief. We go through the best of times and the worst of times. The story of Job shows the best and worst times in a blameless and godly man’s life. We will find ourselves on the margins or somewhere in the middle during life’s swift transitions.
I visited a young female hospice patient in our Acute (emergency/respite) Hospice Facility. She shared seeing a lady in white coming into her room late at night (emphasizing it was not a nurse, doctor, or employee). She was frightened. She also experienced funeral directors picking up bodies and transporting them downstairs in an elevator ten feet from her open door. Death surrounded her and she felt her death was imminent. I immediately got her a room on the opposite side of the elevator. I introduced her to the story of Job and his similar experience and feeling of impending death. I gave her a copy of my manuscript of Job scriptures. She got healthier and was discharged to homecare. She and Her mother (a minister) used the manuscript as a bible study guide. Weeks later, in a weekly interdisciplinary meeting, her doctor announced her discharge from hospice. The doctor said, After many tests we didn’t find cancerous cells.
Why do good people suffer? Why did God take my loved one? Why do some die before their time? What is next after death? Many questions and answers lie within the pages of this book.
This book is heavily supported by scriptures as they have come to mind. I believe, Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
(Romans 10:17) I play on the one string God gave me- scripture recognition, recall and memorization. Indeed, in this journey of life we will all continue learning to trust in God.
Readers will experience the affirmation that both good and trouble in life are normal, natural, and to be expected. The affirmations will bring comfort and encouragement. With a little faith the presence of God and the meaning of life and death will be better understood. Our faith and trust in God’s goodness will be challenged- as Job was tested- when it hurts, and when life does not make sense.
Prelude
Around 700-400 B.C. in the land of UZ (beyond the Euphrates River) there lived a man named Job (Jo-B). Job was a godly man of integrity (perfect in his day) and was the richest man in the East.
God placed a fence of protection around Job’s house and all he possessed. Job had a family of seven sons, three daughters, many servants, and over 11,000 animals.
Satan asked God to remove his hedge of protection surrounding Job’s blessings and prosperity to allow him access. He promised that Job would turn away from God and curse God. With God’s permission, Satan- through tragedies and
