About this ebook

I’d rather have Jesus!
The number of mistakes I’ve made in my life is too many to list. But thankfully, grace covers them all. This book is to be my testimony that God is greater than all our sins, forgives us, and uses us for His kingdom. One of the hardest things I had to do was to forgive myself. The mistakes I made are all on me while my restoration is all on Him. You and I were created to serve at His will, and I assure you that, once you grasp that understanding, your life will change, and your rewards will be beyond your comprehension.
Our world is at crossroads. Our political system is in disarray, and we are seeing prophecies of old unfold in our midst. Earthquakes, diseases, wars, and natural disasters occur at a greater rate than ever before. Civil unrest in the United States is in a dangerous state. I don’t know if we, as Christians, are raptured pre-, mid-, or post-tribulation, but I believe we are close to finding out. My hope and prayer are that you will secure yourself, loved ones, and others you may meet

    About the Author

To my loving wife, Christine, who has stood by me and championed me through this journey of illness. She is my best friend and soul mate. Also, to my two daughters, Emily Kain and Nicole Pearson, who I am very proud of. To my two fine stepsons, Nick and Alex Morgan, who I think of as my own sons. Finally, to my sister, Carolyn McGaughey, a remarkable and smart woman who has always remained a rock in my life. She has stuck by me through many bad times, and she has never given up on me. Her rewards in heaven will be great.

    Foreword

I had an experience almost forty years ago, and the impact of that experience will last for the rest of my life. It is not until now, years later, that I have decided to follow through with writing this book, telling my story. Not that I ever thought that I would write a book, the older I've gotten, the more consumed I've become to just sit down and write it.

Mark 8:36, For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his how soul, has lingered in my mind ever since being awakened one night and then recalling those words the next morning and over the course of my life. At the time, I didn't recall ever hearing that verse and really thought it was Shakespeare or some other famous quote. After all, I never studied the Bible or Christian philosophy or any other religious doctrine or anything along those lines that would bear any reasonable explanation as to why this would be on my mind. But as I began to review and search more into what had happened, the doors of memories began to open, and I would go through those doors to where I am today, writing this book.

Now I am not a notable writer, and, in fact, I've never published anything. The only thing I can really say about my ability to write is that Dan Rather, a famous CBS news commentator and journalist, and I had the same English teacher. Louise Knight taught Mr. Rather in college at Sam Houston State University, and she taught me at Madisonville High School. While it is not my intent to deliver some outstanding literary accomplishment in this book, it is my intent to deliver a message that coming to know and accept Jesus Christ is not complicated.

There are more books available to read on the subject of faith and grace and other Christian subjects, but I think this book is unique. It's not for the master theologian or doctorial pastor or someone who is steeped in the word of God. It's about understanding the simplicity of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The book is about my personal struggles with believing in our creator and allowing that belief to bring change to my day-to-day life. So many preachers today preach prosperity and success and a life of happiness once the life-changing experience starts. While I believe in miracles and that miracles do occur, miracles may be a bit overstated as being a part of God's plan. You don't just get saved and get rich or healed or a new job or delivered from some
