About this ebook

This book is a collection of memoirs and short stories. Some are factual and others are fiction written over a course of twelve years. Life has a way of taking us through unexpected paths, some dark and bleak. God balances them out with joy, peace, and lasting contentment through life's challenges, family situations, seasons, love, and the list goes. My prayer for you is as you read this book, you'll be encouraged to see the glass as being half full instead of empty; that you will began to obtain happiness by looking at life through the eyes of a child; and that you will keep love, forgiveness, and expect the best first of yourself and appreciate and have compassion on others. We are all a "work in progress." I believe our gifts bind us to a higher power of God. The more we apply it, the closer we become to each other. When you finish this book, you will know that there are no "small" gifts. All gifts given by God are indeed good. This book was written by the anointing and power of God to bring deliverance to all in need. Some of them will make you laugh, cry, and think about life. All those who read it will go away refreshed with a new outlook on life. I encourage you to pass it on to family and friends. They will be thankful for years to come!

    Chapter One—The Seasons

    The Seasons

    Spring

    Spring has come once again

The snow is gone, the grass is green

New life has sprang upon the scene

The animals dance around and graze

Clear blue skies and sunny days

The buds appear the blooms are out

Spring is here without a doubt

Birds in the trees began to sing

Excitement and joy in little things

From a caterpillar to a butterfly

Just a sign of time gone by

Let all creation rejoice and sing

For God has begun a brand new thing!

    The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

    —Song of Solomon 2:12, KJV

    The Light

His glow is so bright it catch one’s eyes

The reflection of him you cannot hide

He shines both day and night

To encourage one to do what’s right

He came down from God above

To prove to us his wondrous love

We can carry him everywhere we go

To be a witness to the world that we know

Christ died on the cross at Calvary

That who-so-ever will can be made free

Oh what a light so great and divine

Thank God, thank God, thank God he is mine!

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    —John 8:12, KJV

    Summer

It’s summertime and, man, it’s cool

We thought we’d never get out of school

Carefree days is what summer is about

Making plans for the next cookout!

Vacation is just around the door

After the trip there will still be more

    Swimming, surfing, and playing ball

I’m so excited I can’t tell it all!

Meeting friends at the town hangout

Begging mom to let us stay all night

Don’t forget about the party beside the pool

Jim volunteered his house before we left school!

    Swimsuits and bikinis that glow

Girls, girls, and more girls everywhere you go!

Summertime, I know it has to end

If anybody asks summertime is my best friend!

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

    —Genesis 8:22, KJV

Independence Day Fourth of July at the Beach

The fourth of July celebration is tonight

Old Glory proudly displays it’s red, blue, and white

Firecrackers sounding off the distant shore

Crowds of people around the beach front below

One can see the colors spread across the sky

Mixing with the stars as the rockets fly

    The ship out on the
