Unbridled Faith - Heather Ruble
Day 1
And whatever you ask in my name, that will I do,
that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
—John 14:13–14
As followers of Christ, we can take great joy in this scripture. All we have to do is ask in Jesus’s name and it is done. Sounds simple, right? But how can we have confidence that whatever we ask will be done? Going back to the story of Stacy Westfall and Whizards Baby Doll (Roxy); she had complete confidence that when she asked Roxy to go, she went. When Stacy asked Roxy to slow down, she slowed down. And when Stacy asked Roxy to stop, she stopped, making every maneuver fluent and effortless. Her ride made bridle-less riding look so easy anyone could do it. But it was not that simple. A lot of hard work, dedication, and discipline went in for that ride. If she would have asked the horse to do all that without ever putting the time and effort prior, I bet the horse would have been less than compliant. In fact, I bet Stacy Westfall would have had enough wisdom to never ask the horse in the first place. There would have been no confidence that the horse would perform the task at hand.
It is the same with our relationship with Christ. If you have not put time in communicating with Him through prayer, reading His word, and trying to live your life in a manner that is dedicated and pleasing to Him, you cannot confidently go to Him with whatever you ask.
But children of God can humbly approach the throne room and bring our petitions, our desires, and our wants to God. Hold on, or should I say let go of the reins for the next thirty days and see what God can do in your life. Over the course of the next month, I will give you scriptures and experiences that have created our ministry, Unbridled Faith.
Day 2
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
—John 3:16
Why is it that when we face problems in life, we tend to blame God and ask why? Whether you are a follower of Christ or not, you have probably found yourself in this mind-set. Until we understand that we face trials and tribulation because of sin, not because of God, we cannot fully overcome the test that is before us. Before I go too far, I do not want to assume that every person who is reading this believes in God and has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. That is okay. Keep reading. You will find amusing and uplifting stories about performance horses, farm life, dogs, and more. Maybe you believe in a higher being but do not really know who that is; I hope through these stories I can introduce Him to you. But if you have not given God a place in your life, then you cannot rightly blame Him for the things that happen in your life. Because of sin in this world, we are unable to walk blameless before a holy God, but we can walk forgiven.
To understand what Jesus did for us, we must go back to the beginning of mankind—the first record of mankind. We get a very small glimpse of what life was like in the garden before man sinned. Adam and Eve had one rule, an d it was not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Unfortunately, they blew it and chose to have knowledge like God, rather than having faith that God’s commandment for them was in their best interest.
Their choice led us to the lifestyle we live today. We now live in a world where we are faced with disease, terminal illness, mental illness, immorality, physical abuse, mental abuse, and the list goes on. All because of sin. The good news is God had a contingency plan, and Jesus came to provide damage control for Adam and Eve’s bad decision. He came to be the sacrifice for sin, to provide
