    The Gospel message...

The Gospel message is the foundation of the Christians’ faith.  It is not only what we believe, but why we believe. It is a message of inspiration when facing defeat.  It is a message of hope that fuels the passion to continue to suffer being ridiculed for worshipping a God that we cannot see or touch. It was this same hope that pushed generations to continue to pray for a Messiah that they never saw in their earthly lifetime.  The Gospel foretells of the fulfillment of the prophetic vision proclaimed by Isaiah who said For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Gospel inspires with accounts of courage.  Jesus, my greatest hero, knew no sin, but He was intimate with the weight of it.  In spite of it all, He still went to the cross for me as a sinner.  Thanks to the message of the Gospel, I am reminded of that daily.  It was on the cross that He endured the ridicule, embarrassment, hurt, pain, betrayal, and even the thoughts of abandonment; just for me!  The Gospel message explains the full story.  It brings to light the true cost of truth.  It reveals to me that the cost of my broken relationship with God because of sin was my Savior being placed in a grave.  Even though Jesus spent three nights in that grave, He still rose back to life and among men with all power!  It is through my understanding and acceptance of this incredible message and good news by the Grace of God that I am granted the opportunity to accept everlasting life and authority through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I used to wonder why it was that Momma was so faithful to the weekly events held at the church; the old St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 421 Patterson Road in Joliet Illinois.  Not only had she experienced the awesomeness of God, but she had a fire that kept her going when it seemed like life had drawn all that she had to offer.  I only wish that I took time to journal all of the things that I witnessed her experience, endure, suppress, and surpass over the years; she must have had the Holy Ghost! I’m amazed at how the message of the Gospel had the power to revive her.  She would sing songs about Jesus, and through them, we grew to believe that troubles don’t last always. Isn’t it funny how we live our whole life hearing things associated with the Gospel message in church and around our homes, but fail to understand the context? It’s time to address the questions instead of simply assuming that everyone understands what the church is talking about. I think that the development of a biblically sound foundation is worth talking about. It’s my intention to provide answers to some of the questions that many Christians have. I am confident that if you’ll spent time reading and meditating on what’s on the pages that you have in your hand, your confidence and understanding will be challenged. I think you’ll agree that Christianity really isn’t that complicated.  Are you ready?  Let’s go!

Why Does He Love Me So Much

When I think about all that I’ve done and the fact that I’ve made so many promises and broken them, I’m challenged to understand why God loves me. Sure I’ve heard this saying my whole life, sang songs about it, read about it, and even wrote poems about it; but never understood why.  Why does the God of the Universe, full of people who have accomplished much more than I have, have greater possessions than I have, much more influence than I have, love me? What makes me so special, or what
