    About the Author

    (11) And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his son. (12) He that hath the son hath life, and he that not the son of God hath not life.

    —1 John 5:11–12

    The Lord Is Everywhere

    THE LORD IS WITH ME

    EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY

EVEN WHEN I GO MY OWN WAY

AND DO THINGS, AND WHAT I SAY

WHEN I STUMBLE HE PICKS ME UP

WHEN I THRIST HE GIVES ME HIS CUP

    WHEN I SIN I KNOW I CAN’T WIN

BECAUSE SIN IS SIN AND I CAN’T WIN

THE LORD WILL FORGIVE ME, HE TOLD ME SO

AND I KNOW THAT WHEN I’M DOWN AND FEELING LOW

THE LORD OF HOSTS IS NEXT TO ME

HE FEEDS ME, HE LOVES ME, AND HAS FORGIVEN ME

    WHEN MY FAITH IS WEAK

    I CAN HEAR HIM SPEAK

CHILD OF MINE MY LOVE IS HERE, I AM NEAR

COME TO ME, YOUR BURDEN WILL BE FREE

LORD I CALL UPON YOUR NAME

FOR NONE OTHER IS THE SAME

YOU LOVED ME WHEN I WAS A SINNER

NOW I FEEL LIKE A WINNER

YOUR LOVE HAS SET ME FREE

    FROM HELL AND DAMNATION

I WISH ALL NATIONS COULD SEE

WHAT YOUR LOVE HAS DONE FOR ME

I WALK THE PATH WITH THE LORD

    MY SHIELD AND MY SWORD

HE LOVES ME I CAN TELL, HE DIED FOR ME YOU SEE

ON A CROSS SO I WON’T BE LOST, HIS LOVE LIFTED ME

    THE WORLD IS A TRAP

WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS WE THINK

BUT MY TREASURES ARE IN HEAVEN

WHERE THE LORD WAITS FOR ME

I PRAY FOR ALL TO HEAR

    THE DAY IS COMING NEAR

WHEN TRUMPETS WILL BLOW, THE LORD WILL SHOW

HE IS BACK, THAT IS A FACT

    HE WILLTAKE WHAT IS HIS

    WILL IT BE YOU?

I KNOW IT WILL BE ME

FOR YOU SEE, THE LORD HAS FORGIVEN ME

PRAISE HIM I SAY, HE COULD COME TODAY

HIS LOVE IS REAL LIKE NO OTHER

SO I SAY LET THE LORD SHOW YOU THE WAY

PLEASE DON’T DELAY, HE COULD COME TODAY

    Rapture

Sue, are you going to the party at Ricky’s tonight?

No, Lisa, you know I have Wednesday church service. Why don’t you come with me?

Sue, you know that church stuff is not for me. You know I find all that Jesus stuff boring. Besides, if you can’t see, feel, touch, or smell it, it’s not real.

"Lisa, why do you say that, knowing I believe in Jesus? Lisa, I worry so much about where you are going to spend eternity. I truly believe that the rapture is upon us, and you are not even worried about where you are going?

Lisa, please turn around and listen, all right—

Sue, Sue, where are you? Sue? Sue? Where are you? Sue? Sue? Come on, this is not funny, Sue! I’m leaving. I’ll tell you about the party tomorrow. That is, if I don’t have too much fun. You really are being silly for not answering me.

    * * * * *

    Lisa!

    Hi, Mary.

Lisa, did you see James and Lilly?

No, Mary. Mary, is something wrong?

I told them to stay in the backyard, and then the phone rang. I went to answer it, and when I was done, those kids of mine were gone.

Don’t worry, Mary, I’ll help you look for them. Where do they like to go?

James and Lilly like going to the park, but not on Sunday’s. My kids love going to church. James and Lilly go to the morning and evening service. Lisa, they would not run off to play somewhere and not tell me, and not when it is Sunday! Lisa, I am scared!

Mary, we will find them. Don’t worry.

Oh, look! There is Tom and Carol. Hey, Tom, did you see James and Lilly?

No, did you see Brenda and Mark?

No, we just started looking. And come to think of it, we haven’t seen any kids. Lisa, I bet they all went to the park down the street. You know, where we watch all the baseball games?

    Well, let’s all go.

    * * * * *

Tom, the park is empty! Where are my children?

Calm down, May, we will find them.

Tom, the sheriff is coming this way. Maybe he might have seen the kids.

Hank, we can’t find our children.

Calm down, folks, I need to tell you all that something major is going on!

Hank, does it have something to do with the children?

I believe so. How, I am not sure.

What do you mean you are not sure?

Look, Tom, my kids are missing too! I am getting reports about plane crashes with no pilots, buses with no drivers, car accidents with no people in the cars. It is not just the children that are missing but adults as well.

    Hank, what is going on?

I don’t know, Lisa. Whatever it is, it is not looking too good!

"Tom, we need to head over to the church. Everyone knows that if the church bell is ringing nonstop, it is an emergency. That means people will come. We need to get as many people there as fast as we can. The church has a basement full of supplies for any type of disaster except for a television. I sent someone to get one. We need to find out if we are at war.

Hank, war? War on American soil?

    Folks, please settle down!"

Sheriff, it’s been hours. My wife and children are missing.

Sheriff’, I brought my TV from home, and it’s all set up.

"Thanks, George. George, hand me that mike so I can get everyone’s attention.

May I have everyone attention please? Quiet please! Folks, I am going to make this quick. As you know, we are at a loss for what is going on, and George has brought his TV, so please be quiet so everyone can hear!

Sheriff, why not call the State—

I tried, and I can’t get through. Folks, please, we need to listen while we can.

"This is Brad Brader with the latest news. Folks, most of our government is gone! The president and vice president—gone! More and more reports of people missing! Plane and car crashes. Hospitals where some patients and staff—gone. People walking down the street—gone! All gone!

Folks, listen, I don’t know how long we will be on the air. Some of the other television and radio stations are not in service. People have disappeared into thin air. It’s not just our country but all over the world. Gale? Gale? Where is Gale? Folks, people have just disappeared! Heaven help us!

Hank, did you see that? Disappeared while he was talking. Hank, turn it off, please.

Hank, I think I know what is going on.

Lisa, what are you talking about?

Hank, I am talking about the rapture!

Lisa, now is not the time for that.

Hank, it is time. And think about it. We heard about the rapture since we were kids. Hank, you and I both know about the rapture, and I know many here know of the rapture.

Lisa, I am not going to tell them about that!

Hank, think for a second. You’re a cop. You know the truth when it is staring at you in the face!

Lisa, I thought maybe it was, but I don’t know. I just don’t know. I need to sit down.

    Hank, are you all right?

I just found out today I have a bad heart. I was going to put in my notice in today, and this happened. Perfect timing.

    Hank, they need to know.

    Lisa, you tell them.

    Me?

Yes, you. Look, Lisa, they will listen to you. After all, you’re a judge!

Hank, you and I both know I am a judge who likes to party, and some know it.

Lisa, that don’t matter now. I got your back. The rapture has happened. I believe that now, and now they need to know.

Hank, you sure you want me to tell them?

    I am sure, Lisa.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think I know what is going on.

Look, lady, if you know what is happening, you better tell us now!

Okay, but listen, truly listen, and don’t interrupt me.

Get on with it, lady. Do you know something we don’t know?

I believe that the rapture has taken place.

Come off of it, lady. You are crazy!

    Please listen.

    Sheriff, make her stop.

Folks, listen. I didn’t want to hear about the rapture either, but I am now. At least hear her out before we jump to any conclusions.

    Sheriff, really?

"I am still the sheriff, and I say be quiet till she is done, then we will go on from there.

Lisa tell them what you think is going on.

    "Thanks, sheriff.

My friend Sue warned me about this.

What do you mean warned you?

Quiet please, and I will tell you. It’s called the rapture.

    Come on, lady!

    Bob, that’s enough!

    Sheriff!

I said be quiet and let her finish!

Sheriff, she has no right in saying that!

Bob, hear her out, and after you do and you still want her to stop, then she will, but I believe Lisa knows what she is talking about.

Sheriff, you are as crazy as she is, but I will listen to what she has to say.

    Thanks, Bob.

    Sheriff, don’t thank me yet!

How many times had our family or friends warned us time after time that the rapture will happen, but we didn’t listen? Raise your hands, and please be honest.

Everyone in the church raised their hand!

Look, people, can’t you see how our family and friends were right about God? Now they are in heaven.

Lisa, are you telling us that we are going to hell?

No, Jesus is giving us one more chance to believe in him and accept him in our hearts. But be warned, Sue also told me it will be a hard seven years.

Look, lady, you are nuts, and I’m out of here.

    Me too.

Joe, Mark, Harry, Joan, Emily, Pat, and Karen all walked out.

"Hey, let’s get a beer and something to eat. Our wives are gone. Our children are gone. If
