About this ebook

Every ministry needs the information in this groundbreaking book. Intercessors are as vital to the church as air is to lungs. There are many churches who have prayer teams who might meet every Saturday morning for an hour or so for corporate prayer, but that is not enough. Intercessors need to be strategically positioned in the spirit realm in the areas where God has appointed them. They need to be trained on how to intercede and also on how to wage war in the Spirit. This book covers all aspects of the intercessory ministry, and after reading this book, your views on intercessors and intercession will be transformed. The church that applies the teachings in this book will begin to see the success of the breakthroughs they have been longing for in their local assembly.

    Foreword

    The multifaceted roles and characteristics of the intercessor will be revealed and examined throughout the course of this book. This book will open your eyes to the significantly important position and ministry of the intercessor, revealing why they are crucial in every church. Touching on the roles of intercessors, they are responsible for moving the church forward, toward the ever-present work and will of the Lord Jesus Christ. Synonymous to a construction worker, for apostles, they ensure that the ground is fundamentally secure for the building of the foundation of the church; for evangelists, they serve as the pilot and security in the spiritual realm, and they also ensure that the Word of God is preached in all nations, to all peoples, and to all creeds of the earth. With those responsible for the work of the Lord, intercessors must be men and women of high standard, reliability, and discipline, to complete the tasks at hand. Be sure to read and reread as you go deeper and deeper into the ways of the Lord concerning intercessors. Those who are intercessors in the Lord have a powerful and unique calling to God's heart.

    A church without intercessors is handicapped. The work of the intercessor is similar to the oil that causes objects to move cooperatively in motion. It is of vital importance that intercessors are assigned in every church. In this book, you will learn the importance of the three major categories of intercessors. God gave Adam and Eve dominion over the air, land, and sea, which encompass the entire span of the earth. In the same aspect, God gave intercessors dominion over the air, land, and sea as well, which is the entire breadth of the spiritual realm. The air-based intercessors are the prayer warriors, the land-based intercessors are the watchmen on the walls, and the sea-based intercessors are gatekeepers based over the gates of the nations. This book will show you strategies on how to position intercessors in the church so that they can begin to increase the intercessory furnace of the body of Christ. Intercessors go above and beyond the call of duty to get things done. They do what it takes by any means necessary, even changing laws in the Spirit and building hedges of protection. They are the movers and shakers of God's Kingdom. The devil wants to destroy intercessors as much as the Philistines wanted to destroy Samson, or Saul wanted to destroy David, with intensity. But being the mighty men and women of valor that intercessors are, they will remain more than conquerors as long as they remain under His covering. A number of questions may be stirring up once you have read all the way through: Am I an intercessor? If so, which one and how do I know? If you have asked any of these questions or know of anyone who has, this book is perfect for mining more direction and information for you.

    Blessings and peace.

    Preface

    Prayer is one of our most powerful weapons in our warfare's arsenals. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." When we find that we have been calling on the Lord, and we are experiencing only drought, we begin to wonder if God is truly for us. We find that things are not what they are supposed to be, and we wonder why God's promises are not seen in our lives. It causes us to wonder if God even hears us. As the body of Christ, we are one unit; therefore, wherever one falls short, it affects the entire body. How can the body of Christ pray effective prayers? How can each individual pray effective prayers? When I noticed how much God's people were under bondage in so many ways, it brought grief to my soul. The Holy Spirit placed a great burden on me to go on a quest in seeking the Father as to why His people are suffering the way they are. Many become sick and many are sickly. Even though we pray with great faith, they remain sick, and some even die from their sicknesses, causing premature deaths. We wonder why so many are poverty-stricken. There are so many with personal struggles and issues. Many churches struggle to become successful. They experience drought in the church's finances, in membership, etc.

    The Holy Spirit took me on a great journey that transformed my life, and I am confident that as I share His great and wonderful insights into the spiritual setup of His Kingdom, that you, as well as your ministry, will experience the same transformation that I experienced. My journey took me to a place that Samuel's mother, Hannah, experienced. She sought the Lord through the bitterness of her soul, and she never quit until the Lord answered her. In great grief and agony, and in days and nights of agonizing prayers, I was consumed with the longing and yearning desire for the understanding of why God's people seemed unsuccessful both spiritually, and even naturally, and how that can change, so that we may experience the spiritual wealth He has promised. This spiritual wealth would no doubt trickle down from the church and into our own personal lives. Through the mercy and grace of God the Father, I now understand the whys that have so engulfed me, and not only the whys, for He has also given me other answers that are totally life-changing. I am already experiencing the transformation in my own life. As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ who was stricken for nineteen years with lupus, my life has been transformed both mentally, physically, and spiritually from His divine revelations. God has so graciously given to me His great spiritual wealth, and I know that it is not only for me, but He, in His sovereign will, is using me as His channel, to give the insights of His wisdom to the body of Christ, so that His people can understand how to war and conquer, and how to move the church forward in Kingdom principles. As we follow His design, we will begin to experience what the early church experienced in signs and wonders. His manifold blessings will begin to flow because we now understand how to allow Him to validate His Word with those signs and wonders that we do desperately long for.

    This divine journey that the Holy Spirit has brought me on has brought me the answers that I have been looking for, and it is my greatest pleasure to allow the Lord to relay these vital truths to you. Brethren, we do not have to become sick or even remain sick! It is true that with his stripes, we are healed—all of us, not only a selective few. We can absolutely all be healed from every disease—yes, even cancer! Matthew 10:1 says, "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." Yes, all kinds of disease. And remember also what Luke records in Luke 10:17–19, "And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." There are reasons for your struggles, and there are answers that will set you utterly and completely free in your health, in your finances, in your ministry, and in your lives. In King David's design of the temple of the Lord, he had gatekeepers stationed at every entrance and over all its affairs. There is a master design that God has given to the church, and we have veered away from following it, and because of that, we are not seeing his promises. David's gatekeepers represent our intercessors today. Intercessors must be stationed over our lives, our families, our homes, and our ministries. If it can be affected, then it has an entrance, so it must be assigned gatekeepers to guard that entrance.

    The Holy Spirit has taken me on a journey, and He has revealed to me, through spiritual revelations of His divine will, the design of the body of Christ for today, and it is all written in His Word. God says in His Word that He has laid out a design for the temple. Those rituals and ordinances in the Old Testament were symbols of the now, our grace period. "And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof" (Ezekiel 43:11–13). What is God saying in this Scripture? He is saying that there is a prescribed design of the temple, the church of God, and we must be faithful in following His design. He has shown me His design through His Holy Word. Let us go on this journey together and, as you do, allow the Holy Spirit to reveal His Word to you so that you can see His design for your life through His eyes. As you read this book, I am confident that you will be transformed by the precious Holy Spirit.

    This training is for both male and female because God is using His people as He has placed each person in the body of Christ: as He pleases. The word he or him mentioned in this training refers to both male and female. God does not distinguish between male and female, but spirit to spirit, and their God-given position in Christ.

    Quoted Scriptures are taken from the King James Version.

    GALATIANS 3

    26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

    27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

    28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

    29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

    The Purpose of This Book

    I have taught on Intercessory Training, and leaders and individuals from different countries and churches, have given me great testimonies of its life-changing effects. They have shown great desires for materials on this teaching. It was surprising to me that so many leaders are not aware of this kind of ministry, and how much it is a part of God's design for the church, as much as He has appointed pastors. Because of the great demand for this information, I have decided to write this book with the same materials that I have taught on, but I have also included even more intense information on the subject of this book. I now realize the great need for what God has placed inside of me, and have, with the help of the Holy Spirit, put it in book form for my readers to gain the benefit of this divine treasure.

    This book was written for everyone. It is suitable for every person, leader, church, ministry, and organization at every level. It is also written for both male and female. We must not be caught up with the idea of a male role and a female role in the body of Christ. The ministries that are mentioned in this book are not limited to only one gender, but it is intended to include both genders, according to the perfect will of God. Wherever the pronoun of a male or female is mentioned, it is meant for both genders, but for ease of writing, I will interchangeably choose one, but it stands for both genders. This book is also suitable for every age, race, culture, and nationality. If there is a group that is not mentioned, know that it is included. This book encompasses every scope of our being, at every phase of life. In other words, this book is for everyone.

    Prayer is one of the key ingredients in the success of God's people here on earth. It is one of the greatest communication components given to connect us to the Triune God. Through prayer, we touch the heart of God. When we touch His heart, it moves Him to action. Prayer is a powerful weapon against the forces of darkness that is evident in this dark world. We are all given this basic ability to communicate with our Maker, but there is a step further in this vital tool that we call prayer. God has given us intercessors who carry the oil of the ministry of intercession. They are assigned, appointed, and strategically placed in the church to ensure the divine protection of God's people. Many churches are lacking this vital design in their local body because they do not realize the magnitude of the power of the ministry of intercession.

    This book will show you how God has designed intercessors to cover every scope of life. He gave dominion to Adam and Eve over the air, land, and sea, as seen in Genesis 1:28, and in our grace period, the period of the church, He has given us power, authority, and dominion as well, over the air, land, and sea. In reading this book, you will be able to understand that intercessors are gatekeepers, prayer warriors, watchmen on the walls, and also spiritual armor-bearers. You will understand the characteristics of each group of intercessors, and will be able to detect them among the brethren. If you are not able to recognize who the intercessors are in your local church, and what their positions are, this book will be helpful. This book will also help individuals who desire to understand the type of intercessors they are. If a person does not feel that they have been called to serve as an intercessor who is strategically assigned by God, this book will still help them increase in power and their ability to pray and move God, even if they are not called to the ministry of intercession. This book will train leaders and their congregation on how to stoke the fire of intercession, where they will learn the different levels of prayer. It will also help you understand the call of intercessors, and where you fit in. For the person who is reading this book, and who feels the call into the ministry of intercession, you will begin to understand your calling as an intercessor, where He has strategically placed you, and how you can function in your calling. Everything that we ever need is built into our spirit, and this book will help you understand the cues of the Holy Spirit.

    As a leader of a church, ministry, or organization, you will understand how to detect the intercessors in your ministry, how to train and equip them, and how to strategically place them in your local church. The teachings in this book are basic, and all areas are backed by Scriptures that are presented in this book. The high level of the anointing on intercessors is so that they can clear the spiritual airways, which empowers the church to move forward in bringing the Kingdom of God on earth.

    Finally, this book will help you expand your knowledge on how God sees intercessors, and the part they play in His Kingdom. The information in this book is life-changing because it will help you fully realize God's purpose for intercessors, how He has strategically positioned them in the body of Christ, and how the different levels of intercession functions. Intercession births a surge of power which flows through the fervent prayer of an intercessor; it is the power surge of any individual ministry. No person or leader should be without this vital ministry. Each ministry that applies the strategies of intercession that is found in this book, will experience a transformation that will cause them to grow from faith to faith and from glory to glory. They will be victorious in battles. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you read this book. I hope and pray that as you learn the ways of Christ, you will be able to teach others also.

    Chapter 1

    The Foundation of the Church

    The Fivefold Ministry

    Christ's blueprint for His bride, the church, will never change. His Word is eternal, just as He is eternal, because He is His Word, and His Word is Himself. He has set up His design, and we must follow every jot and every tittle until the day He comes back for His bride. He has left us with five major offices, and these offices make up the government of His church. We call this government the fivefold ministry. "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. [Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.] And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" (Ephesians. 4:8–14). As we can see, all five branches of the church government within the church are in one verse (v. 11), and they were given after He had ascended. We will continue the work that He Himself has started.

    Apostles

    The apostles that we see in Scripture laid the foundation of God's Kingdom principles that we still have. Apostles bring order and government to the church. Government is absolutely necessary because it facilitates the flow of God's power and anointing (Titus 1:5). Apostles are builders. They are wise master builders who build foundations. They help to build strong churches. Their calling is to oversee the building and construction of the house of God from its original format, which was given unto them by Jesus Christ. We are not talking about a physical building, but the establishment of the beliefs, doctrine, practices, and God's rules and regulations for His church. "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:1, 3). They were eyewitnesses so their documentation is authentic. It was not thirdhand information. They were with Jesus Christ the Word made flesh.

    Ephesians 4:8 says, "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men," and then in verse 11, talking about those gifts, he mentions apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. We do understand that Jesus did call apostles while He was here on earth, we do not dispute that, but this is also true to be said that He also called apostles and prophets after He had ascended up to heaven. Paul was called to be an apostle after Christ had ascended into heaven. Why is there a controversy today regarding the call of apostles and prophets? All five ministries are listed in verse 11. We accept the calling of pastors, teachers, and evangelists, and the two that are mentioned first in the list of gifts are shoved aside. Not so. They are all in one verse. They are all a unite of the government of Christ. We cannot accept what we think to be true. We must accept and believe that He is still equipping the church today with all five gifts, and not three out of the five. We must be careful not to change the Word of God to suit our opinions. It takes the Holy Spirit to reveal the authentic Word of God to Mankind.

    Ephesians 4

    11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

    12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

    13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

    15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

    Christ sets the fivefold ministry in place for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come in the unity of the faith. According to the Word of God in Ephesians 2:20–22, "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." Every local church must utilize the design that Christ has ordained. In every church there must be the operation of the fivefold ministry: there must be an apostle, a prophet, a pastor, a teacher, and an evangelist, in combination with all the other gifts that Christ has given to the church.

    Apostles boldly bring judgment and correction to the church because of the authority that Christ gave to them. They issue sentences and verdicts against false teachings and incorrect behavior. They set in order the complete doctrine of Christ without compromise.

    Here is an example:

    1 Corinthians 5:1–5.

    1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

    2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

    3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

    4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

    5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

    This is the government of the church. They tell you how things should be according to God's standard, and they enforce them if anyone deviates from them. They make sure that God's principles are carried out. They are spiritual fathers and mothers who birth forth, protect, teach, and mentor sons and daughters. They have divine access to Holy Spirit induced revelations, and the unfolding of the mysteries of Jesus Christ. They have the ability to attract sons and daughters that they can reproduce themselves into, and this is done through apostolic impartation. Impartation is the ability to plant ministries into others. Whatever the apostle possesses, he can plant that same type of ministry and call that is on his life, into the life and spirit of others. This is done in a seed form. They are also able to impart the grace and anointing needed for someone to walk in his or her calling, imparting what is lacking, so the believer can rise to full maturity in his calling. They are able to activate, stir up, and release giftings in peoples' lives, as they train and equip faithful men and women, setting them on course for their own ministries. An apostle is not stricken by jealousy. They seek out those whom God has designed for him or her to impart into. With that impartation comes multiplication of the apostle's ministry. The sons and daughters he or she is training are reproducing his or her work, therefore extending his or herself through them. He or she is able to help people grow into their full potentials in Christ because an apostle's heart's desire is to see people grow and function in their callings.

    1 John 1

    1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

    2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

    3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

    John is saying that they had direct connection to Jesus Christ, the Word of life.

    Ephesians 2

    19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

    20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

    21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

    22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

    Galatians 1

    6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

    7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

    8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

    9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

    No other foundation or Gospel is accepted. "And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb" (Revelation 21:14). That simply lets us know that the doctrine that the apostles bring are the foundation of the church because they received it from Jesus Christ Himself, the Chief cornerstone. In every stone building, one stone is crucial. It is laid first, and it is to ensure that the building is square and stable. It is the rock upon which the weight of the entire structure rests. It is the cornerstone. A cornerstone is a stone that forms the base of a corner of a building, joining two walls. Christ is the head of the corner of the building of the church of God. Apostles and apostolic intercession are still needed by the church of God today. Our modern-day apostles and prophets are here to remind the church of its true foundation because the apostolic and prophetic call and anointing is on them to operate in those offices. They have been given the ability to know the foundation and to instruct in such.

    The church is not perfect yet. We are not yet unified, so we need all the ministries that Christ has appointed for the church from the beginning. If the fivefold ministry was in place in the early church and they were not perfected, how can we become perfect without the fivefold ministry? Some will say that in order to be an apostle, you have to have seen Jesus. Paul became an apostle after Christ had ascended to heaven. He was not one of the twelve disciples, but his spirit man had an encounter with Christ, and he had seen Jesus with his spirit. Therefore, Paul had met and seen Jesus, and Jesus Himself called him to be an apostle. "And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time" (1 Corinthians 15:8). Paul represents those who came on the scene late, but are still appointed as apostles. Remember, it was all over when Paul came on the scene. He did not experience the transfiguration, the water made into wine, the healing of blind Bartimaeus; he was not among them when they took the Lord's supper and washed one another's feet; he was not even around after Christ rose from the dead to even have shaken hands with Him, and be appointed an apostle. No. He was late on the scene, yet he was called to be an apostle. Man's tradition and translation of the Word of God can wreak havoc. Let us rely on the Holy Spirit of God to interpret the divine Word of God, so that we do not hamper His plan, because with or without us, the church will prevail, and will become the bride He intends for her to be. Only the Holy Spirit can interpret the Word of God, so we must look to Him for the divine revelation of His Word.

    When a person becomes a Christian, it is because his spirit man has seen Christ, and has that divine encounter with Him, and it causes him to surrender to Him. So yes, every apostle that ever lived has seen Christ because that is the only way any person can become saved, to see Christ spiritually and surrenders to Him.

    We are Paul's apostolic generation, per sé. We were born out of due time, just like Paul, which means after Christ has risen and ascended to heaven. We have never seen Him in the flesh, but our spirit man has beheld Him, and that is why we have answered to the call. Though we have never seen Him, or even ever been to Jerusalem, yet we are chosen by Christ to ensure that the true foundation of His church continues. Only those who are truly called by God to be apostles can truly say that there is such a thing as apostles today, because the apostolic hand of Christ grips deep in the belly of his or her spirit, making it undeniable. So yes, He is still calling apostles today. And let us understand that in Him is neither male nor female, which means He has appointed both male and female believers equally throughout the body.

    "Beloved, now are we the sons of God" (1 John 3:2). "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:26–29). There should be no controversy as to how God feels about women and their place in ministry. We hinder the advancement of the Kingdom of God when women are denied their rightful place in our Father's Kingdom. "And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters" (Numbers 26:33).

    Numbers 27

    1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

    2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

    3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

    4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

    5 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

    6 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

    7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren [among the men]; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

    11b and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.

    Yes, today, women have inheritances of ministries among our brethren, the men, in the body of Christ. If you do not believe that women are called into these types of ministries they call controversial, then believe us for the work's sake. The evidence of the anointing on our lives, and the fruit of our labor, should be evidence of our divine call into the same leadership roles as men are appointed, unless we are superhuman and can do the spiritual work of the Holy Spirit all by ourselves, without His permission and His help. If you do not believe that we are
