Scott Tavolacci does a masterful job taking us into the center of God’s heart for the healing ministry. Discontent to leave healing as an external, temporal, and one time reality, Scott shows us that God heals because He loves. God sees more than sick bodies, He sees wounded and sorrowful hearts, and He longs to heal our hearts and emotions as well as our bodies. Here we learn that God’s end goal in healing is to bring us up into worship and fellowship. Is it God’s will to heal us today? It’s as much His will to heal as it is to be worshiped and loved.

I have read many books on healing throughout the years and I can truly say that Scott Tavolacci’s book is like none other! This book is truly a revelation from God on healing of the entire person: spirit, soul, and body. Scott breaks the mold on ‘healing prayer’ to lead us to the Father’s perspective of us as individuals and His unending love and pursuit of us. This is a one-of-a-kind book on healing!

Pastor and teacher Scott Tavolacci has given us a great book on the often misunderstood subject of divine healing. I consider it a must-read for all serious students of the Bible. We must remember that healing is in the atonement, and that healing is also the ‘children’s bread’ for all believers today! Thanks Scott, for a much needed book—balanced, insightful, and just plain exciting to read!

    Editor’s Note

Reading this book is like taking a wonderful road trip. Divine healing is the highway, and Scott Tavolacci does a masterful job of negotiating the main road.

But get ready for more: there are treats along the way! In his lectures, Scott calls them bunny trails. In this book, I call them side roads because it’s like he turned onto Route 777 to stop at Grandma Betty’s Bakery to partake of the incredible baked goods—only this time it’s a trip along Grace Trail to be divinely fed by the abundance of God’s provision on our behalf.

Back onto the Highway of Healing, through the Village of the Leper, and Centurion Town, with a turn onto Mercy Meadows Road for a stop at the Center Store, where a relaxing talk with the old-timers will reveal the fruits of mercy over the long term, for those who find it.

This book reads very much like Scott’s lectures sound. There are a lot of side roads along the Healing Highway, and we’ve purposely left them there. They give immediacy to the book—a freshness to the writing—that wouldn’t be there if we turned the style into a more strict, outline-oriented form. Outlines and theories and sub-paragraphs just wouldn’t be Scott.

So fill up your coffee mug, buckle your seat belt, and prepare for a wonderful journey down the Healing Highway—and all the side roads Scott’s found along the way. You will be blessed!

    Foreword

    by Dr. Brian Simmons

If ever we needed healing, it’s today! This is the day and age when cancers, AIDS, and various kinds of incurable and hideous diseases abound. Millions of dollars are being spent on research every day to look for cures. And still the cures for these diseases remain aloof and hidden. But thanks be to God that what is impossible with man, is possible with God! God is our Healer! And He has placed in His Word principles that we are yet to fully understand in our generation. These are the principles that the first disciples walked in and had no problem understanding. How did we make it all so complicated? If we really understood, we would begin to see mighty miracles flowing in and through our churches. It’s time for the church to awake to a clear understanding of our inheritance in Christ of divine healing.

We all want healing. We all want miracles. But where can it be found? Is there a secret, or is it clear and uncovered, just waiting to be discovered? Scott Tavalocci shows us where healing is found. Jesus, the Man of mercy and healing, is still walking among us today, giving His beloved ones all that they ask for.

Scott is a true teacher of the Word of God. He is anointed, especially in the area of healing and the prophetic. Not only does he excel in the teaching gift, but has led the way in spiritual maturity and raised up many leaders. He makes the message clear and straightforward, so that all can easily understand what our hang-ups have been in understanding how to move, breathe, and have our being in God, so that we too can minister divine healing to the sick and downtrodden.

Scott brings a simple, but profound teaching on some commonly overlooked principles that he has discovered from his own study of the Word by revelation of the Holy Spirit. What have we been missing? What it is and what it isn’t. He examines the reason our faith at times is not the faith of the Bible spoken of by Christ; the kind of faith that brings results. Christ calls healing the children’s bread. If it’s the children’s bread, we should be walking in it. Who would want to keep His bread from the children? Why isn’t it manifesting? The Lord Himself said to His disciples, When I come, will there be faith on the earth? signifying that in the end times the earth would be lacking in faith. As you read what faith is, how it operates and creates, you will move and begin to understand the flow of the Holy Spirit when the mysteries of heaven touch earth in a tangible anointing of what we call divine healing.

Take out your Bible; get ready for an adventure! This book will take you deeper and further than you’ve been before. A new horizon of the miracle power of God awaits you! Go for it! Don’t hold back! This is your time to flow in healing power!

    Introduction

In the last century, the Christian church has published and preached a lot about divine healing. This was probably inspired by the Healing Revival of the late 1940s and ‘50s. Since the subject stirred diverse and spirited discussion in many denominations of the Christian faith while there were many healings taking place, the church needed the scriptural understanding of healing to go along with the manifestations of power that were happening.

Since my salvation, some thirty-plus years ago, I have read numerous books on divine healing, and carefully studied the scriptures on this topic. Books I have read varied from testimonials of miraculous healing ministries, expositions of New and Old Testament Scriptures on healing, and explanations of healing in the atonement, to the different manners and ways God heals. All these books have been a great blessing to me and have added depth to my understanding of divine healing.

My intense hunger to understand more about divine healing started when I received my first healing: I was playing basketball and ran into this rather large person’s knee and got a deep thigh bruise. I was visiting a sister in the Lord the next day, and she prayed for my leg. I was healed by the power of God and played basketball again two days later, without any pain or limitation. This was my first experience of divine healing. That hunger to understand more about divine healing was then fueled by the manifestations of God’s power through me for the healing of others. The first time the Lord manifested a gift of healing through me was a few months after my leg was healed. It was the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college, and I was teaching a Bible study for a group of high school and college kids. A young lady wanted me to pray for her grandmother, who was in the hospital dying of cancer. As I prayed, I saw a woman’s outline as I closed my eyes, and I could see a particular organ highlighted—the liver. The Lord spoke to me and told me to tell her: I have healed your grandmother of liver cancer. To my surprise, when I told her what I saw and heard, she told me her grandmother did indeed have liver cancer. A few days later her grandmother walked out of the hospital, healed.

One thing I want to make clear: this book is not about any other man’s healing ministry. It is about Jesus’ healing ministry. Since all scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for training, teaching, and improvement, Jesus’ healing ministry as recorded in the Scriptures stands alone as the best source for learning about divine healing. Too often the church has taken men who have been anointed by the Spirit of God for the healing ministry, and made these people out to be more than they were. When these men were found to have weaknesses, faults, and failures, people lost faith in divine healing. If people would learn the truth and understand the Master, their faith would grow and they would become firm in the foundation of this wonderful truth that they can appropriate for their lives.

I have ministered to many people and have seen many people healed of various diseases; but to be honest, I have also seen many not healed. Both of these situations pushed me to seek why and why not, so I have asked the Lord many times on the subject.

In 1991, the Lord spoke to me about studying His Word on divine healing. It kind of caught me off guard. Not that I had the subject down pat, but I had taught numerous times on various ways of divine healing, read numerous books, and listened to more local, national and international ministers on the subject than I can remember. This time, though, the Lord spoke to me and told me to study how Jesus ministered divine healing to people. Since I read the Gospels more times than I can remember, and read many of the accounts of Jesus ministering healing, I thought this would be a short study. Well, months later, I realized how ignorant I was (and probably still am.) It was one of the richest times I have had studying the subject of divine healing.

The heart of what I learned is that Jesus learned how to hear God the Father and do His will. Jesus said:

I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything He is doing. In fact, the Father will show Him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished (John 5:19-20 NLT).

Jesus spoke this as a result of the Pharisees and religious leaders questioning Him on why He healed a paralytic man on the Sabbath. It’s a question we also seem to ask ourselves: why Jesus did things the way He did. The New Testament shows a great diversity of ways He ministered to people—thus, there are a great may reasons why He did things the way He did.

Too often we try to minister healing to people through a formula of faith, or the theory that physical healing is a result of some inner healing that needs to take place first, before divine healing can be manifested. Although both schools of thought have a great amount of truth to them, we can’t rely or have faith in a formula that someone else understands. We need a personal revelation of Jesus the Healer. We need to rely on God, and hear how God wants us to minister to each individual. What I realized is that there is no one formula to divine healing. Sure, we need to understand principles of faith; sure, we need to understand the power and authority in the name of Jesus; sure, we need to understand how to lay hands on the sick; sure, we need to understand how to flow in the gifts of the Spirit. I could go on and mention different ways God manifests Himself. But what we need to ask is what God wants to do in each situation.

In this book I will endeavor
