Becoming Successful (Harvesting Your Success) - Gaddiel R. Ackah
Chapter 1
Principles of Dreaming Big to Succeed
Dr Andrews L. Ewoo once asked, If you have one billion dollars in your account, what will you use it for?
I asked Rejoice Ackah the same question, and she said, The mind would tell when the money is there.
As a student of success, is buying your dream cars, phones, or houses what your mind can tell? What other things would you like to own that your mind knows? To create a company, further your education, or migrate to other country? Awesome! If it is about cars, did you mention cars like Bugatti, Rolls Royce, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, or Lexus? All these imaginations of what and how you will use your one billion dollars are the preview of your success that have already been intrinsically built within you. They are the promises and forces of unique potentials inside you that vibrate what you can achieve for your life. They radiate and vibrate your subconscious mind about the power of your daily positive imagination. They are the unseen description of what your mind can work. I mean everything you do imagine are the tip of the greatest successes your mind can create. They prompt your success in disguised ways, and your brain communicate to your subconscious mind about what it can achieve. You only need to sit up, get up, and uncover such greatness and your success will follow you like your intimate shadow.
There may be layers of challenges to prevent your greatness—your disability and inability to unclothe your fears, your passive ways to overcome the pains of fear, and your struggles to change the way you think about success and how to create what your life deserves. The most amazing thing is that we don’t need magic to change our lives because we carry all the powers we need within ourselves already—the power to think big, the power to dream unimaginably, and the power to make positive decisions. Another important thing is that we have our earnest responsibility to live to create and do all that we can to leave behind us the legacy for those who will come after us. The Americans are mindful about their daily positive actions. How will our children judge us?
"Will they judge us as lazy, useful, useless, lawless, law-abiding, great achievers, brave, creative, innovative, or mentally corrupt people? In success creation, character matters, positive judgment matters, hard work matters, your daily choices and decisions matter, your ability to begin what looks impossible matters, and your usefulness matters.
Becoming successful means making valuable and meaningful history. We are not just to live and die but to keep adding values to our lives by realizing our dreams. We have all seen greater technological advancements that have made our world look more beautiful, comfortable, and safer. They are the dreams and imaginations of ordinary people like you. They thirsted for successes, devoted their time and energy to dream, and created such great and wonderful inventions and infrastructure that marvel out understandings. They first imagined them and worked hard on them, and their products or services came into being as the productive use of their brains. Is it not wonderful? Close your eyes for ten seconds. Did you see something beautiful like a house or building, car, iPhone, or the very clothes you are wearing? When human eyes get closed, the world looks empty, dark, helpless, and hopeless. That is exactly how life is. Many people and nations have closed their mental eyes, so they are in total darkness, and helplessness, poverty, and corruption replace hope. Because such people and nations are covered with mental darkness, they hardly see anything possible to create. They always normalize their inabilities and remain the same. They only live as consumers of other people’s minds. We do marvel at the products and services of the power of human brains for the great things they have successfully made. Such people were able to open their mental eyes. I believe you are amazed with the kind of successes they have created, the kind of positions they have acquired, the kind of degrees they have obtained, and the kind of relationships or companies they have used their minds to build. Successful life is never a mere hoping, expecting, and wishing, but it’s about active doing, active determination, active being, and active becoming.
Know that the great achievements in the United States did not fall from the sky. Such great infrastructure came into being by the creative application of the minds of ordinary people. Don’t live to misuse your mental capabilities. The positive and creative use of your mind and imagination can provide all the solutions the world yearns for because everything the mind imagines, it can accomplish. Keep stretching your imagination a little higher, and you will be surprised to see greater success. Everything human has made or is making are the successes of ordinary people like you. Every position or degree someone has acquired is the effective use of the mind. Now close your eyes again and let your mind imagine great positions, job titles, or changes you would like to have, great and profitable companies you would like to work, and the type of degrees you would like to get. These desires for better houses, great positions to hold, amount of money to have in your bank account, the type of degree you would want to get, and the kind of respect you would want to earn are the mental communications some people had, and the products and services of their imaginations are what we see in our world that baffle our thoughts. Such people are successful because they were able to dream what they wanted for themselves and the world. You can also dream what you want to become, the kind of positions and degrees you want. This is the growing and realizing of your purpose of living. You need to create what you want in your mind and realize it by diligent effort, and the world will clap for you as we do clap for Bill Gates for the creation of the Microsoft. Someone dreamed that traveling in the sky would be possible, and now we have planes and aircrafts for easy transportation. Someone dreamed that communication can be wirelessly possible, and as that success mattered to him, he created the use of phones. That is the mystery of human mind. Dr. Michael Assilidjoe dreamed to hold a PhD and had it. Professor Evans Atta Mills dreamed to be a president of Ghana, and it happened.
Your success is not about creating money; it is about realizing and creating your purpose of living to change your life for the better today than yesterday. It is the creation of your own usefulness to change your history. The goal of your success is to realize your dreams to improve your life in positive ways. Let success matter to you and create one for yourself. The strength of your mind can create great products and services that can surprise your imagination. Your mind is too great and powerful to create unimaginable advancements in our world and to change your life. We are to create and add to the numerous successes in our world. If you don’t become successful, it means you fail to use the power of your brain to imagine one. The reason being that successful life is a creative life activity—if you want it, you can pricelessly create it. Michelle Obama has this to advise, "You have to practice success. Success doesn’t just show up. If you aren’t practicing success today, you won’t wake up in twenty years and be successful, because you won’t have developed the habits of success, which are small things like finishing what you start, putting a lot of effort into everything you do, being on time, treating people well." Nothing can happen magically to make you comfortable or to change your job title. Every success you want for your life is within you. All you ought to do is create or objectify it by a productive dream, work on it, and you will have it. The power of your self-confidence and the choices you make today will validate the motive behind your desired success tomorrow. Your self-trust is your key to unlock your greatest success. No dream is impossible. It can delay, but you can still get it done.
A dream that looks impossible doesn’t mean it is impossible to achieve. Dreaming and achieving what looks impossible sets your foot among the heroic result-oriented achievers. It makes you become a great dreamer, a living winner, and an overcomer to do what others have not dreamed for in centuries because to them it is impossible and unachievable. Do you just want to live and die? Or do you want to live and have successful life? Get great choice out of your dreams today, and that will put hope in your life regardless of age, sex, time, location, situations, condition, or finances. Your identified goal will clearly guide you to know that you came to this world with a defined and destined goal to be successful but not to tiptoe in life and die. This will help you leave some productive footpaths for many people to use them to change their lives positively.
Making success means making valuable and meaningful history. Success is your ability to accomplish your life plan or dreams positively to add value to your life. Success is not limited to money or equal to it. It makes you happy because what you once dreamed for your life has been achieved meaningfully to change your life and may directly or indirectly influence the life of others. This makes you a gallant achiever and not a failure. It adds value to your life and changes your history in numerous and advantageous ways such as good position, good name, better job title, expected hope, and other immeasurable accomplishments.
Your success is what people will use to remember you but not your date of birth or your age or size. For example, President Joe Biden, President Atta Mills, Dr. Rejoice Ackah, and Officer Ackah. Get success and get remembered. Age has never been a limitation in success creation. It is only your preparedness or alacrity to step up and execute your availability and challenge your possibilities for the opportunity. For example, President Joe Biden was the youngest senator at the time of picking his political career in the United States Congress in 1973 and now the oldest president-elect in American history in 2020. He has made it purposefully in politics. It gives lessons that life is full of opportunities that exist in disguised ways, but when such disguise is cleared, the path ahead should lead to a better life. I mean some opportunities may not look beautiful to you, but when you uncover any opportunity, use it to make a better life today than your past. Always think of and explore for any investments, higher advancements, or some unusual positions and job titles that can add value to your life.
There is a divine truth and a reason about wherever everyone is living now. Nature has placed you at a place among some people, position, country, or city to make you realize greater dreams beyond who and what you are today. Your immediate environment is a factor to your success. Those people who will come into your life are going to help you in some unique ways. Some people will hurt you, some will pull you down, and others will push you up. In all, everyone that may come your way should leave you with great lessons that you shouldn’t let them discourage you but rather strengthen you to move forward. There are some reasons for wherever each person lives or has first settled. We came to this world but once, and we are the explorers of our own successes to accomplish our assignments to walk and leave extraordinary paths and footprints of successes.
The question here is, what shall you do to be successful? It is simple. Get some bigger dreams or new lifestyle toward success. Put all your effort, time, and energy on it and then pursue it and you will achieve that goal. The achievement of your goals defines your success. We all live to harvest what we have sown, meaning that the greatest opportunity to be successful is by making determined choices. Do not be satisfied just by short-term targets that can be achieved now. Think ahead in terms of bigger dreams, longer-term goals of becoming a president, director, senator or member of Parliament, senior manager, pastor, municipal chief executive, sole proprietor, inventor, author of great books, or investor by a certain date in your lifetime. Be a creator of usefulness today and add greater values to change your tomorrow.
Don’t fear to dream big and don’t fear to act on your dream. Don’t live to misuse or waste your mental capabilities. Whatever your mind keeps prompting you to do or acquire is achievable. Just begin doing it or get into that program or that investment, and it shall be yours. Remember, the early days of many successful managers, presidents, inventors, creators, pastors, and entrepreneurs are distinguished by their strong self-image of future success. Such confidence did not come easily, but with their positive actions, they were able to reinvent their future. We don’t look at the difficulties they passed through. We only count the great achievements they have made. When I was coming to the United States after my deployments in 2019, I was poised with determination to write two books and create my own company by June 2020. My wife was surprised when I started making good money. You can also become greatly successful if you don’t confine yourself to your current occupation or job title, but you choose to go beyond this; you will find that the career paths that looked beyond your reach will suddenly open up for you. Feel good about the choices you make toward your success because your successes are the harvesting of your own choices and decisions.
As a manager of your life, arm yourself with confidence and positive and productive choices, and you will reach a better future. You can become whatever your mind has revealed to you. If the situation needs an adjustment of your mainstream goal, do your best to diversify it or do what is traditionally called attachment. For example, a teacher diversifies to be a businessman or author of interesting books or rising up to MP or MCE or to be a president, a church member rising up to be a great pastor, a mechanic advancing into creating different stuffs.
You can change the entire direction of your sail. Abedi Ayew Pele is a Ghanaian professional, dynamic, and selfless soccer (football) player. He never yielded to failure but created the success that amazes me greatly. After missing the opportunity to win the World Cup of Nations because of age, he never got discouraged. He maintained his confidence in reaching his successful destination in a different way. He formed a soccer (football) club called Nania FC and trained his three sons to acquire the skills needed to play and win soccer (football) internationally. His son Dede Ayew became the captain of the Ghanaian national team to win the World Cup of Nations for Ghana. He remained focused and directed his sail to reach a defined destination. As a footballer or soccer player, he became a founder of a soccer club.
From the day you were born and declared alive till now, there have been amazing fields of experiences built in your life to urge you overcome anything that looks impossible in life. You crawled, walked, and ran. All these three life activities emphasize the power of moving forward. When you were crawling as a baby, you never knew walking and running would be possible. It was a dream you never knew you could do, but now you do run easily. This is reminding you that in success creation, nothing is impossible or late. Alice Sebold is right to say, Sometimes the dreams that come true are the dreams you never even knew you had.
Such wonderful dreams may look like a fog and initially shake your mind with a lot of questions. Bikram Choudhury encourages, Never too old, never too bad, never too late, never too sick to start from scratch once again.
Get time to visualize great dreams, don’t fear to dream big, and never fear the challenges or human limitations. If you don’t change things, nothing will change. Doing the same thing in the same ways makes you produce nothing new but the same old rugged results. Don’t live the normalized or destabilized life of others. Tempt yourself to live as a changer or pioneer of the future. Keep living forward and live to change the future. Your attitudes should let others marvel at whatever you do and will become. Put the aroma of differences into everything you keep doing, and you will produce special results to make a difference in the lives of others.
Deepak Chopra has said, Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past, a prisoner of others’ limited advices, or a pioneer of the future.
Being prisoner of the past means you will be producing the same old results, but being pioneer of the future means you want to produce unseen better results. Once the future is unknown, your future realities and achievements should not be something you already know. If it is, then you are a prisoner of the past. Don’t live to tiptoe in this world and die. Get something unusual done and change the history of your life. I am now the president of GRAMEP logistics company. I am still dreaming more and greater dreams because someone somewhere must remember me when I am no more. Consider the following seven success search questions:
What do you want to achieve for yourself? What do you want your life to be in the next five or ten or twenty or sixty years? In twenty years to come, you will be surprised more about what you failed to do than what you did. When my family were coming to pursue their dreams in the United States in 2016, my daughter Abigail, who was nine years old, was having a great dream. She told her mother, I am going to the United States, and by the time I return to Ghana, I would be a great person and a dermatologist.
She has created her future and is working tirelessly on it. What goal or dream have you planned or imagined for your life in the next five years? Zig Ziglar has said, "Search for what is your true genius and develop for your life. The brain, according to success scientists, is
