    Poems - Charles LePore Jr.

    Basia

    My sweet little lady,

    Every time I see you;

    You look more beautiful:

    With each passing day!

    Do my eyes deceive me,

    Or is it true every day;

    You just get lovelier, Basia.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    Trust Me

    Oh how can I ask one as lovely as you to trust me,

    When I am not even sure that I can trust myself;

    For when I look into those lustrous pools:

    Of splendor and beauty that are your eyes,

    I see the flames of passion burning bright;

    Oh how they enchant me:

    I just want to take you in my arms,

    And never let you go;

    But we our friends and that cannot be!

    Oh Lord when we are closed I cannot trust me,

    I have tasted the sweetness of your kiss;

    But once and only for a second:

    But that second seemed like endless time to me,

    How can I ask one with kisses as sweet as sugar;

    To trust me when I long to kiss you forever:

    And feel the warmth of your love close to me,

    But we our friends and that cannot be;

    Oh Lord when you are close I cannot trust me.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    In the Mist

    In the mist stands a goddess,

    She stands there night and day;

    When I close my eyes I see her there :

    So I walk into the mist to tell her,

    That I love her and she fades away;

    I turn to leave and she calls to me:

    Where are you going for I am waiting,

    For you I turn back and she is within;

    Reach so I reach out to her but she:

    Is gone again for the goddess of the mist,

    Is surely a dream that is yet to come.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    Life Is Over

    Life is over when,

    Your heart stops beating;

    On the day you left I died:

    But my heart goes on beating,

    Because it cannot believe;

    That you are gone.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    The Seasons

    Springtime brings the birds and flowers,

    And carries love on the breeze;

    So what does summer bring if not the growth:

    Of love between two lovers,

    And what of fall it must bring:

    A stronger bond between the lovers,

    Then what of winter it brings bitter cold;

    To warm the hearts of those in love.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    Count the Ways

    Oh how I love you let me count the ways,

    I love you from early morning to early morning each and every day,

    I love the way your voice sounds evening, morning, noon, and every day:

    I love you so much it would take a lifetime to tell you all the ways that I love you,

    So let’s not waste time talking about the ways I love you;

    Let me show you how much I love you,

    Because we only have one lifetime and I want to spend it just loving you.

    Charles S. Lepore Jr.

    Unhappy Christmas

    Christmas is a happy,

    Time of the year
