About this ebook
Hebrews 11, the Catalog of Faithful Witnesses, retells the testimonies of God's faithful followers who found God in the midst of pain, suffering, and hardship. Their testimonies are an upward call to God's people today. Reading this book is like reading Hebrews 11
Testimonies are truth. Testimonies are lived truth. In this book faithful disciples of Jesus give their testimonies of how God fortified them during their darkest days, their days of lament, grief, and loss.
These stories aren't easy to hear. They are stories that are full of hurt and pain. But as we listen to the stories, we learn lessons about how to find God in the dark moments of life. These are the moments that St. John of the Cross calls the "dark night of the soul." Is God present when life is shrouded with misery and grief? This book doesn't tell the reader how to find God during the "dark night," instead, the book shows the reader how God reaches out and finds his faithful followers during their "dark night." That's the value of this book.

Foreword
Leigh and I have known Kathi for decades. She is the real deal. She is multitalented. She anticipates needs before they happen and finds ways to meet those needs. This book is evidence of that. Kathi’s testimony is powerful. Kathi, thanks for collecting these stories. Kathi, thanks for sharing your own story. Also, thanks to everyone who shared your story.

Introduction
Now I Have Seen You
The heart of this book was born when my husband, who was only twenty-eight years old, died. I was a Christian and had searched high and low for two years looking through the scriptures for answers and direction during his illness. There were endless tears and crying out to God.
I remember reading the book of Job and thinking, No one wants to be the person reading this book because you think you relate. At the end of the book, chapter 42, Job says to God, I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
I was so impacted! I realized that during the two years that my husband had been ill, I was able to see, with my own eyes, the character of God in a way that I never would have been able to otherwise.
Now, although I feel deeply for people going through incredibly tough times, I know they have the blessing of seeing God, and who he really is, in a way that they otherwise may have never seen. That is the heart of this book. As we see the character of God with our own eyes, we will then have the faith to move forward with our lives and rebuild.
In this book, my friends and family will share their stories with you. They are not professional writers. They aren’t all written in the same narrative. They aren’t all written in the same format. They don’t all have happy endings. I choose to leave it that way, because each person is unique. Each story is special. Each one reaches out and says, "If I hadn’t gone through this, I wouldn’t have known God this well and that keeps me faithful!"
My prayer is that you will not only hear about God, but that you will see God in your life and that you will forever be faithful to him as well.
Grief—/ɡrēf/ (F. Wade Cook Jr., L.P.C.)

A cause or occasion of keen distress or sorrow
If you are reading this, I am assuming you fall into at least one of the following categories.
You are experiencing a recent and deep loss. It might not be a physical death as grief is involved to a greater or lesser degree in any loss.
Your loss is not recent but remains as painful as it was the day you first learned of their death. And you are seeking some inspiration
