American Prose - Joseph Lacerenza
Preface
I didn’t start out to write a book on poetry, from the time I was young like most other people, when I came to a problem in my life that caused stress, I found a way to cope with it. If my mother was extremely angry with someone or something, she would put a rug on the clothes line and beat it till all the dust was out of it (sometimes this would take an hour to do). My mother was a very, very kind and gracious woman, she rarely showed anger so because of her example I would find different ways to vent my frustrations and my disappointments : for anger, I would hit a speed bag, and for disappointment I would write, so what is set down in the following pages sometimes may appear lame to some even weakness, but feelings both in men and women are lame. They are the bare nerves of an exposed heart, especially when you invest time in the other person only to have them decide that they have hurt you enough and it’s time to move on.

Our veterans deserve all the honor that we can give them for injuries incurred and the sleepless nights they suffer due to the horrors of war.
There are lessons to be learned and my poems are a reflection of the observations set to rhyme, religion, and my faith, the Christian faith. The Faith the United States Constitution is based has as its underpinnings: the Dignity of freedom and the inherent Nobility of Man, this is why our Legal system has the (presumption of Innocence), as John Adams said (Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious
