About this ebook

Every once in a while, I get a chance to listen to broadcasts on radio or watch networking on television. And, the more and more I do this, the more and more I get deeply concerned with the quality of so-called religious material presented on such via comments, discussions, lectures, preachings, teachings, etc. Every so often, it is spiritually impressed upon me (I get led) to deal with some of the monumental misunderstandings that menaces the messianic ministry, mission, momentum, motion, motive, and movement.

There are two strategies/tactics/ways to deal with this type of teaching and preaching: one is defensive and one is offensive. The offensive tactic/strategy/way to guard against it is to constantly teach and preach against it, thereby exposing it for what it is and minimizing it, if not eliminating it - this is referred to as the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; the defensive tactic/strategy/way to guard against it is to block or prevent it from entering your mind by literally putting a spiritual device of some-sort over your mind - this is referred to as the helmet of salvation. The material presented in this book is just a way to help us fight defensively and offensively by first knowing what we need to fight against.

As a side note, the state of apostasy of the professing church is the final stage of the religious order just prior to the Rapture, which is phase one of two of our Christ’s Second Coming. I strongly admonish and request that each believer in Jesus Christ adopt the same attitude and mentality that the church of Berea adopted in the word of God, especially when it comes to the word of God.

    The Articles of Faith

    One of the most overlooked and misunderstood items in the spiritual walk is the Articles of Faith. The Articles of Faith are a collection of core foundational and topological truths taken mainly from the Bible (the inspired word of God). I say mainly because there are, in my estimation, two phrases that need to be reinvestigated. Our religious fore-fathers did an excellent job in creating them.

    However, as with all things created/made by humans, they were not created/made perfect, that is, flawless. (In the interest of understanding, I am waving my hands to the difference of something being created and something being made.) Therefore, they will have to be tweaked. As new revelation comes in to our human reality, we will have to redefine the base and basis of our comprehension, intelligence, knowledge, perception, reasonings, understanding, wisdom, etc. It is in this spirit that I am sharing with you my critical thoughts on two of the Articles of Faith: The Fall of Man and The Christian Sabbath. The entire collection of the Articles of Faith are in the appendix bearing its name; however, to eliminate the need to have you bounce back and forth, I have included these two articles here:

    III. THE FALL OF MAN.

    We believe the Scriptures teach that Man was created in holiness, under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgressions fell from that holy and happy state; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint but choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse.

    and

    XV. THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH.

    We believe the Scriptures teach that the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day, or Christian Sabbath, and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes, by abstaining from all secular labor and sinful recreations, by the devout observance of all the means of grace, both private and public, and by preparation for that rest that remaineth for the people of God.

    Let’s critically examine the first one and then we will critically examine the last one.

    While Article "III. THE FALL OF MAN" really sums up in a nutshell the circumstances behind which humans fell from grace, the use of two words really should be changed: holy and holiness.

    The fact of the matter is that man was not created in a state of holiness; man was created in a state of innocence. One cannot (I repeat, cannot) be made holy without undergoing a test from God Himself. God gave Adam a simple and plain test: do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 2:16-17 KJV)

    This was a clear, concise, and cohesive command or test. If Adam would have passed the test, then and only then could Adam be classified, declared, and/or deemed holy. You cannot truly say that like something or dislike something until you have first tried it to make that determination as to whether you like it or not. And so it is with God. God cannot classify, declare, and/or deem someone as being holy/set apart/sanctified until God has a reason to do so. As implied, the classifying, declaring, and/or deeming someone or something as being holy comes from God and not humans; we cannot classify, declare, and/or deem someone to become a saint, only God could.

    Apparently (as history records), he didn’t pass the test. So, God had to create a second Adam who would pass all of God the Father’s tests so that He (the second Adam) could be classified, declared, and/or deemed holy. You cannot clean dirty dishes with a dirty rag; never can sinful humans save sinful humans. It takes a sinless human (or heaven-defined holy human) to save a sinful human. As the hymnologist said,

    HYMN #147 (Old)/#141 (New)—Nothing But the Blood

    1. What can wash a-way my sin? Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus;

    What can make me whole again? Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus.

    1. For my par-don this I see—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus;

    For my cleansing, this my plea—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus.

    2. Noth-ing can for sin a-tone—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus;

    Naught of good that I have done—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus.

    3. This is all my hope and peace—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus;

    This is all my right-eous-ness—Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus.

    Chorus:

    Oh! Pre-cious is the flow That makes me white as snow;

    No oth-er fount I know, Noth-ing but the blood of Je-sus.

    Therefore, that article should be written something like this:

    III. THE FALL OF MAN.

    We believe the Scriptures teach that Man was created in innocence, under the law of his Maker; but by voluntary transgressions fell from that innocent and happy state; in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint but choice; being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil; and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse.

    Yes, the second use of the word holiness is correct because the first Adam was void and is void (that is, never attained) of that state of holiness required by the Godhead. (One must recall that the death or bloodshed of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ, had not occurred as of that time.)

    I think you got the picture. Let’s move on to the other article.

    While Article "XV. THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH" really depicts the concept of a sabbath, the problem is that there is no such thing as a Christian Sabbath. The law is the law and grace is grace. We cannot Christianize Judaism. (The Lord Jesus Christ could, but we cannot.) We cannot mix Law and Grace. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (John 1:17 KJV)

    For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14 KJV)

    Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. (Galatians 5:4 KJV)

    The Sabbath is the Sabbath and the Lord’s Day is the Lord’s Day (and never should the conceptual twain meet). The inspired word of God clearly states that the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week and not the first day of the week. Sabbath observance is part of the law and Jesus said that He did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (Matthew 5:17-18 KJV)

    I often asked myself, who would build a foundation to build upon only later to destroy it. That would be an extreme waste of time, effort, and energy. Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ, is not a wasteful God and/or member of the Godhead (being/entity). For God to waste anything from His creation would imply that He lied (since He said that is was good), which, in turn, would imply that God has committed a sin. If God ever commits a sin, He would be less than God and, therefore, not God. So, in order for God to maintain His status quo of being God, He cannot allow Himself to sin. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 KJV)

    (As an aside, after the age or dispensation of grace, the law will be reinstituted; this is how the Antichrist will break the covenant in the midst of Daniel’s seventieth week (which is another subject/topic to be covered in another chapter of this book).)

    Again, the Sabbath is the Sabbath and the Lord’s Day is the Lord’s Day (and never should the conceptual twain meet). Christians worship on the Lord’s Day, but do not observe the Sabbath. Once the ultimate sacrifice (i.e., Jesus Christ) was offered, all requirements of the law was kept through the ultimate sacrifice (i.e., Jesus Christ). The Lord’s Day and the Sabbath are two separate and distinct concepts, much like law and grace are two separate and distinct concepts, like oil and water are two separate and distinct substances that cannot and should not be together.

    Therefore, that article should be written something like this:

    XV. THE CHRISTIAN SABBATH.

    We believe the Scriptures teach that the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes, by abstaining from all secular labor and sinful recreations, by the devout observance of all the means of grace, both private and public, and by preparation for that rest that remaineth for the people of God.

    As an aside, now that I have said that there is no such concept of a Christian Sabbath, let me state that the Lord’s Day is the proper day to worship for those under grace. There are three major reasons (and several minor reasons) why Christians worship on the first day of the week as opposed to the last day of the week: (1) Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week (the Lord’s Day), (2) the Holy Spirit descended on the first day of the week (the Lord’s Day), and (3) John (the Revelator) was caught up in the Spirit on the first day of the week (the Lord’s Day).

    Chapter 2

    The Church Covenant

    The third paragraph of the version of the Church Covenant that we use states the following:

    WE ALSO ENGAGE to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drink as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

    The problem with this paragraph is the covenanted agreement abstain from the…use of intoxicating drink as a beverage. This implies the requirement not to drink intoxicating beverage (or alcohol). While I agree we should encourage people not to drink alcohol, we must not impose human-made sins on people where the word of God does not. Drinking is not a sin, but getting drunk is. Everything God created is good as long as it is done in moderation. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (Ephesians 5:18 KJV)

    For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: (I Peter 4:3 KJV)

    The key here is not the use of wine, but the excessive use of wine. If just drinking is a sin, why then did Jesus turn water into wine as his first recorded miracle. If just drinking is a sin, then why then did Jesus bless and serve His disciples wine in the upper room at the last supper? I could go on, but I think you got the picture. Let’s move on.

    Intoxicating drink cannot make people drunk or intoxicated, no more than a bullet can kill someone; it is the person that causes the firing of the bullet in the gun that is the killer.

    I personally do not like drinking alcohol (I just cook with it). I recommend (not legislate) to people that they refrain from drinking alcohol, if possible. Why? One reason is because I do not like the taste of it and another reason is because of the admonishment of the word of God. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. (Romans 14:21 KJV)

    While I don’t like drinking alcohol (I just cook with it), I cannot superimpose my desire (and ideology and/or theology) on others. One of our major problems with our society as a whole is that we try to make everyone accept what we believe, even when our belief is wrong.

    Everyone has their own ideologies and/or theologies; one problem comes in when there is a conflict between one’s belief and another’s belief. This is why we should allow the word of God to be our gauge (or litmus test) for what is right and what is wrong. We should never compare ourselves with another sinner (even if saved by grace), but we should compare ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. (2 Corinthians 10:12 KJV)

    As an aside, there are some health benefits for drinking wine, not in excess, but a little bit every once in a while. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. (1 Timothy 5:23 KJV)

    As implied, Timothy had a stomach infirmity. A little wine (not in excess) was needed to make his stomach feel better. Thus, there are medical reasons for drinking a little wine (not in excess).

    Chapter 3

    The Communication with The Dead

    How many times have you heard someone say something to the effect that a person from the dead came and spoke to them? Many people have made testimonies that their respective family, friends, and loved ones came to them in familiar voice and communicated with them. I really hate busing people’s bubble, but no one from the dead has the authority to come back from eternity into time, except our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ and a one-time prophetic exception on the Mount of Transfiguration. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. (Luke 16:24-26 KJV)

    In other words, it is technically impossible to pass from death to life, unless you are our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ. There was one time where allowed it to take place as a one-time prophetic revelation in the word of God. That one-time prophetic revelation occurred on what we call the Mountain of Transfiguration. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. (Matthew 17:1-3 KJV)

    And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. (Mark 9:2-4 KJV)

    While the above passages of scripture is sufficient for most people, every once in a while, someone brings up the situation with Saul and the witch of Endor. Here, they alleged that the witch brought Samuel back from the dead. They use the following passage of scripture to try to substantiate and validate the assessment of their Biblical credibility:

    Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. (1 Samuel 18:7-14 KJV)

    Anyone who reads this passage of scripture and concludes that that was actually Samuel needs their Biblical head examined. Whoever believes that that was actually Samuel, I have a bridge to sell them. Let’s examine the text in this passage of scripture carefully.

    The text of this passage of scripture states that Saul called for what? He called for a woman with a familiar spirit. Wow!!! Come on!!! Do you know the Biblical concept of a familiar spirit? In short, a familiar spirit is a demonic spirit who was assigned to another person to become familiar with them so that they could masquerade and mimic them to another person. This familiar spirit familiarized itself with Samuel, so that he could know Samuel’s thoughts, know how Samuel talked, know how Samuel walked, know what Samuel liked, know what Samuel disliked, etc. etc. etc. So, if this spirit is not of the Lord (that is, is ungodly), what do you think the results of its respective actions will be: not of the Lord (that is, ungodly). Again, this was not a spirit of the Lord, but a spirit of the devil.

    I like how the following reference states what I have been telling people for the longest. https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianCoffeeTime/comments/52m3ka/king_saul_and_the_witch_of_endor/ states that "The devil cannot call up the dead, the witch herself had no power, the demons masqueraded as the dead to fool those into thinking that they were being visited by the dead loved ones."

    Additionally, this was the same woman that Saul banished from doing witchcraft earlier. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. (1 Samuel 28:3 KJV)

    And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? (1 Samuel 28:9 KJV)

    How can one go an exercise that which that one banned or put away? If it was wrong for witches to do what they did before then (before 1 Samuel 28), then it was wrong for them to do it then (at the time of Saul in 1 Samuel 28).

    Moreover, the text of this passage of scripture states that Saul perceived that it was Samuel; the text never stated that is was actually Samuel. We have to be extremely careful not to read into scripture stuff that does not exist, that is not there.

    Furthermore, there is a numerical inconsistency with her report. How can one see gods (plural) and one person actually came up (the so-called Samuel). There is definitely something wrong with the account of her story.

    Finally, please do not fall into the trap thinking that demonic forces are not privy to your future. Satan and his imps still have access to heaven and, therefore, they are privy to the conversations in heaven. There access won’t be revoked until the middle of the tribulation period. Let’s go to the word of God for validation.

    And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:9 KJV)

    Please understand that this is a prophetic foreview and not a recounting of the past; nothing in the book of Revelation is about the past (as per the Apostle John’s time or point of reference), but is about the future (as per the Apostle John’s time or point of reference). Also, note that the devil was not cast out by himself.

    Chapter 4

    The Concept and Power of The Wall

    There has been a lot conversation and dialogue about wall building, especially since the campaigning of #45 for the office of President of these United States of America. Since that campaigning and subsequent election, wall building has been one of the major topics on public news. While walls stop people from coming in, they also stop people from going out, which speaks to negative risk management. If ever there was a need to exit this
