This book is dedicated to our grandmothers Reola Allen and Jerry Watkins who both were foster parents and my (Latea Newhouse) first examples of tuning foster into family. Mary Dunlap and Bernice Lee Hall who believed and saw the blessing of our marriage before we did. These women pave the way for their grandchildren to write history. For that we are forever grateful for our praying, loving, supportive grandmothers. We love and honor all of you. We pray we made your hearts rejoice in the Lord over the works of your grandchildren through Christ Jesus our Lord.

When growing up as a child living through a traumatic experience, you never really understand why you are put on this earth or how bad can really turn as a benefit for your good. After growing up with a crack cocaine-addicted single, abusive mother in the ghetto and going in and out of foster homes and losing my father to death by ten years old, I didn't think it could get any better or any worse. After getting into my first abusive relationship at age fourteen, not truly being free from abuse until I was thirty-one, over a span of seventeen years in abuse relationships plus twelve years of childhood abuse, I spent a total of twenty-nine out of my now thirty-seven years of life in abuse. I never understood what all of this really meant until the day my pain transpired into my life's purpose, as a business owner of Latea's Epiphany.

As I look back on the day I was told that I need to tell my story through writing, I thought to myself, Wait tell my secrets? Expose my fears plus write it all out for the world to see? My answer was an immediate no! Later that day, as
