Fallen Knight Volume II The New Life - L. A. Mix

    Chapter 1

Guy and his party are in Texas. The year is 1876. Connie sees a train car, but she believes she sees Indians in one of the train cars.

Guy, I see Indians in that train car, she points out.

I will check it out. Then Guy rides his black Mustang to the train, which has stopped for the night.

He dismounts his horse and climbs in the car. He sees a few Apaches; two of them are sweating. Guy takes a closer look at the two. One is sick, but the other has a wolf bite on his arm.

Damn Taza, he thinks to himself.

I need a wagon now! Guy yells out.

Randy brings his wagon to the car for Guy.

Where are you heading? Guy asks.

To see the Great White Chief, one answers.

This is what I want you to do. If that Indian does not make it, tell them he is Taza the chief of the Apaches, Cochise’s first-born son.

Will Chief Taza be all right? another asks.

You will never see him again. Please do as I say. Then Guy takes Taza out of the train car and lays him in the wagon.

Let’s head out. Guy mounts his horse. He and his party are heading for Cochise’s encampment and hoping they have not left.

Guy, will the Indian be all right? Randy asks.

This causes Kueng Lo to ride to the wagon that Randy is driving. He sees Taza and he knows right away he has been bitten.

This is Taza, Kueng Lo states.

Question for you, Kueng Lo. Will he survive and will we be able to get to Cochise in time?

Yes. We just have to hope Cochise is still there.

Randy, Connie, ride with Andy and make sure that wagon has blood for us, Guy commands. Randy stops the wagon. He and Connie, his wife, climb off the wagon, while Andy put the blood in the other wagon.

We will meet you three in Foxboro. Then Guy, Jake, Derek, and Kueng Lo head toward Cochise.

It did not take them long to arrive at the encampment that is being packed up.

Death that Walks, I did not expect you so soon, Cochise says, as he walks to his friend.

Guy dismounts from his horse and walks to the back of the wagon and picks up Taza. Then he walks toward Cochise.

I found Taza in a train car. Cochise, he has been bitten by a werewolf.

Death that Walks, here is a stretcher you can put him on. Cochise shows Guy.

Guy gently set Taza on the stretcher. Then he turns toward Cochise, asking, Did you figure out where you are going?

Yes. To a state called Iowa. There is a small village called Vinton. The pack will be on the other side of the river away from the humans.

That will be a good place for you since no one there knows you.

They think I dead. Death that Walks, I have a last name. It is Gray Wolf.

I like it, Cochise. Cochise will you accept Indians from other tribes like Lakota, Cheyenne, Crow, and Arapaho.

Yes. We Indians need to stick together. I will also accept other werewolves. They just need to accept our way of life and we accept theirs. That is number one law.

I like it. Well, Cochise, I will get the werewolves for you, and I will tell them your number-one law.

Bye, Death that Walks. We will see you again.

Guy mounts his horse and heads toward Montana to get the pack of wolves. He knows how long Little Bear has been waiting for a strong alpha to arrive.

Are we going to Montana to get Little Bear and the pack that follows him? Kueng Lo asks. He does notice the direction they are going.

We are. They need a strong alpha, and Cochise needs to build up his pack, which is slowly growing.

That will explain why you told them to meet you in Foxboro and not Boston, Jake states.

True. The two youngest will be living in the mansion I have there with their wives. The women are pregnant, so it is best they stay there until they are five.

    Chapter 2

Cochise, it is time! Abeque calls out.

Cochise stops his pack. Then he goes to Taza and takes him off the stretcher. Lansa has raw meat for Taza. Before Cochise shifts, he takes his clothes off. They see Taza shift into a chocolate-brown and white wolf. The markings are like Cochise. Taza is also a Siberian wolf. Lansa gives Taza the raw meat.

After he ate the meat he looks around. That is when he sees a wolf in front of him.

Taza, can you hear me? Cochise asks.

Father, is that you? Taza asks.

Yes, son. You are now a werewolf like I and who are here. Death that Walks brought you to me.

I am Lansa. Taza, I will step down from being second in command and give it to you.

Come, son, we should run before we go on. Then Cochise and Taza go for a run.

When the two wolves come back they go into their human form and get dressed. Abeque hands a white-and-brown painted Mustang to Taza. The two chiefs mount their horse and head out.

She is cute, Father. Who is she?

Her name is Abeque. She is only fourteen. You want her you have to wait until she is twenty. Do you think you can do that?

I can. This way I can get to know her before I take her. Who do I ask?

You already asked me since I am alpha. When she is of age, you can take her to be your wife.

Thank you. Taza takes his horse to Abeque, dismounts, and starts walking with her.

It looks like your son like my daughter, Ayawamat states. He just rode up to Cochise.

He does. He will wait until it is time to take her to be his wife.

I would not be surprised if we become grandfathers as soon as they mate.

    Neither would I, Ayawamat.

As they head for Iowa, Cochise picks up a few more werewolves. Not all of them are Indians. He is glad his pack is growing as they travel. When they arrive the Indian women put up homes for the Indians while the men that are black or Caucasian build their homes.

Cochise watches how the pack is working together. He smiles at this. The children are playing with each other, and not one person tells the children that they cannot play together. Some of the men have gone to hunt for the pack while the women get the large fire going so they can cook the meat.

Cochise, may I sit with you? a new member of the pack asks.

Yes, Tim. Sit. Cochise motions for him to sit down.

I want to apologize for what my people have done, Tim apologizes.

Tim, you did nothing. The white man believes in what they believe, and we believe in what we believe.

True, but we stole your land and killed most of the buffalo so your people can starve for what. We called you savages, but really we are.

Tim, all werewolves live off the land. You live off the land. Yes, our beliefs are different. You believe one way, and we believe in another. The black werewolves have their own beliefs. We all can have our own beliefs, but no one should push their beliefs on others. If anyone tries they will be thrown out of this pack.

We should learn from children. They do not see color or race. They only see someone they can play with. Well, I better go see how my wife is doing. Thank you for the talk, Cochise.

You are welcome. I am here whenever you need me.

Thank you. Then Tim stands up and walks away.

    Chapter 3

Little Bear, where are you going? Guy sees the Cheyenne Brave having the pack, pack up.

Death that Walks, we heard of a strong alpha, so we are going to look for him.

I know where he is. I can take you there.

Death that Walks, what is his name?

Cochise, Gray Wolf. Cochise is the chief of the Apaches. He is taking his small pack to Iowa. You can ride with us.

Death that Walks, may I ride with Kueng Lo? Little Sparrow asks.

You may. That is Derek, and this is Jake, my second in command.

Hello. Then she runs to the wagon. Derek helps her up.

We are traveling with Death that Walks, Little Bear states. As soon as the pack is ready they head out.

Guy did notice the smoke signal, so he is going to take his party around Little Big Horn, so the werewolves he has with him will not get caught up in a battle that is to come. He knows by doing this it will put two extra days on their travel but he would rather do that and be safe.

Death that Walks, do you want us to find you and the others a cave? Little Bear asks.

Can anyone in the pack handle a team of six horses? Guy comes back with a question of his own.

I can, Death that Walks, Tawa says. He is a Lakota Brave.

When it gets close, we will go in the wagon while you drive the wagon. I want to get out of Montana as quick as possible.

When it is close to dawn, Guy and Jake tie their horses to the back of the wagon while Tawa has another Brave take his pony. The vampires climb in the back and tie the canvas up while Tawa takes over the team of horses. They keep going east the direction Guy told them.

The pack is so glad they are leaving Montana. They truly do not want to get mix up with the battle that will be there in a few days. They do hope Sitting Bull’s young chiefs and Braves live through this battle.

It takes the large group two months to reach Cochise’s encampment. Guy is leading the way. He sees that Cochise has picked up more wolves during their travels. He has everyone stop just inside the camp.

Cochise and Taza walks toward the pack’s ally and good friend.

Welcome Death that Walks, Cochise greets.

Hello Cochise, Taza. This is Little Bear and Tawa. They have been taking care of this pack for a long time.

Welcome. Set up your homes anywhere you like, Cochise states with open arms.

Thank you, Chief Cochise. Then Little Bear is having the women set up their homes.

Come we smoke peace pipe. Cochise brings Guy, Jake, Kueng Lo, Derek, Taza, Little Bear, and Tawa into his home to smoke a peace pipe.

Where are you going next, Death that Walks? Cochise asks.

East. I have to pick up my servants. Then we will go to New York City to see a few friends. I am thinking about building a home somewhere in New York State. I think about twenty to thirty miles northeast of Elmira.

You do need a new life and settle down.

Very true, Cochise. When I do I will let you know how you can get a hold of me. Well, I better go. They all stand up. Guy and Cochise take each other’s arm saying goodbye until next time.

They walk out. Cochise, Taza, Little Bear, and Tawa watch Guy and his men leave camp. Then Taza, Little Bear, and Tawa go to their homes. Cochise walks back into his home. He goes and lies down. He is thinking how big his pack has become in two years. He knows he cannot worry about what’s happening to the tribe he was chief of for so long, since he as a pack to care for and lead.

Cochise wakes up early the next day. He walks out of his home and sits down. Taza and Lansa walk toward Cochise and sits down. All three are watching over the pack. The children are playing with the new members of the pack. Then Lansa and Cochise hear Taza chuckling.

Taza, what is it? Cochise asks.

I am watching that little Cheyenne maiden trying to get Dasan’s attention, Taza points out.

I believe she just got it, Lansa states, trying not to laugh since Dasan is an Apache.

I am sorry for Little Sparrow’s actions, Little Bear says. He just arrived.

Sit. Tell us about the Cheyenne maiden. Cochise motions for him to sit.

Thank you. Little Sparrow is my cousin. She has been trying to find a mate for quite a while. She even made moves on Death that Walks’s werewolf nephew.

Werewolf nephew? Taza, Cochise, and Lansa ask in unison.

Yes. Death that Walks knew him since he was small. He gently turned Little Sparrow down. They are friends instead. She thinks of him like a brother.

I would like to meet Death that Walks’s nephew, Cochise states.

From what I understand he lives on an island over the great body of water.

Father, I believe we are going to have a new couple. Taza sees Dasan kissing Little Sparrow.

We sure do. Cochise smiles. He knows this is not normal, but this will help his pack even more.

    Chapter 4

The Harringtons and their new friend Nathan Cole are walking down the street of Foxboro. The Harringtons that are with Nathan are Randy, his wife Connie, their oldest son Paul, Andy, and his oldest son Timothy. Paul and Nathan met in college; both are lawyers. Timothy is an architect just like his father.

Suddenly, they see Guy standing in front of them, but his back is to them. Then they see Kueng Lo standing next to him. Randy sees Jake and Derek off to the side. Derek is carrying his rifle while Jake has his right hand on one of his pearl-handled six-shooters.

Move, one of the six vampires orders.

No. I will not let you harm these humans, Guy says.

Like you and Chinaman here can stop us. Neither one of you has a weapon and alone.

I would not say they are alone, Jake speaks up.

You made a few mistakes, Guy states.

    Like what?

One, no one calls Kueng Lo Chinaman. Two, both me and Kueng Lo have weapons. And three, I do not need their help to kill you.

The leader of the six vampires starts laughing. He truly believes he and his men can take the four down and have human blood.

He is laughing at you, Connie states. She has never seen anyone laugh at Guy before.

So I am not imagining the laughter is all Guy said.

    No.

Jake was all Guy has to say. This tells Jake that he, Derek, and Guy’s servants need to move back.

Randy, Andy, move them back, Jake commands. All but Kueng Lo moves back.

Nathan watches what Guy is going to do. Within a split-second Guy unsheathes his sword, cuts the heads of the vampires off their shoulder, and stands next to Kueng Lo with his sword sheathed. The vampires never knew what hit them. One second they were alive, and the next they are on the ground dead.

Come. Then you can introduce me to your friend. Guy takes them to the stable that has the wagons and horses.

Guy, this is Nathan Cole. He is also a lawyer. But unlike me he deals in criminology. I figure you could use a lawyer like him, Paul states.

I could use one. Then they walk in the stable to get the two wagons and their horses. Nathan has his own horse. They are now heading for New York City to see Constantine and April.

Nathan, what do you know about vampires? Guy asks.

I know they cannot be out in the sun, and they drink blood. What kind of blood? I am not sure. I have a feeling you are a vampire since you showed up very quickly.

You are right. Kueng Lo, Jake, and Derek are also vampires. Most vampires drink human blood but not us. We drink animal blood only.

Derek is riding his horse behind one of the wagons when he sees a female in the back. He quickly rides his horse to Guy.

Boss, we have a stowaway in the back of the wagon Andy is driving.

    Great. Human or vampire.

    A human woman.

Stay here, Jake. Nathan come with me and you too, Derek. Then the three head for the wagon.

When they get there, they see a young woman with dirty-blond hair and green eyes looking at them.

Why are you in my wagon? Guy asks. Then she does sign language.

She is deaf. Sleep and we will talk later, Guy says. She nods and lies back down.

Derek, you will drive this wagon, and Kueng Lo will drive the other. Nathan, you may sleep in any of the wagons.

Randy and Andy stop the wagons so Derek and Kueng Lo can take over while they climb in the back to sleep. Nathan decided to stay awake. Guy has his team head out once more. They will only stop long enough for them to go into the wagon while the humans drive the wagons.

The next night the four vampires wake up. Derek unties the front while Jake unties the back. Then Jake and Guy untie their horses and mount them, while Derek climbs up front of the wagon and Kueng Lo goes to the other wagon.

Guy sees the young woman sitting with Nathan.

Did you get her name? he asks Nathan.

We did. Her name is China. She left Foxboro because of vampires. How do we tell her four of you are vampires? Nathan is confused about this. He really does not want to scare her.

Guy tap China’s arm to get her attention. When he gets it he goes and explains what he, Jake, Derek, and Kueng Lo are and what they drink. She signs, ‘Will you hurt me?’

No. You will be safe with us.

Hello, Guy Seward. They hear. Guy has his wagon train stop. They see five men standing in their away.

Jake goes to Nathan and China to protect them from the five vampires. He knows he will have to use his handguns on them. That is if they get past Guy.

Move, so me and my party can go through, Guy commands.

No. We are here to kill you and take you back to the Elders so we can get paid.

Do you know how many they send and every one of them are dead? Now move!

We are not like the others. You cannot kill us since we are shinobi.

You just mess up. Kueng Lo shakes his head.

Guy dismounts his horse and stands in front of his horse. He places his hand on the hilt of his sword.

    Then you are in luck.

    What do you mean?

I am a shinobi, a grand master. Then in a split-second the vampires are dead on the ground, and Guy is on his horse. They start out once more.

    Guy, China! Nathan calls out.

Yes. He sees her sign, ‘What happened?’

They were hired to kill me since I killed my sire, Guy explains. He sees her sign once more.

Yes, my sire was a bad vampire, he sees her lean up against Nathan.

    Chapter 5

Guy and his team just arrive in New York City. They put the wagons and horses in a stable that is built just for Guy by the mayor. They walk out and head for Constantine’s home.

When they arrive, Guy knocks on the door. He and Kueng Lo can walk in, but Jake and Derek cannot since there are two humans living within the home.

Constantine opens the door to see Guy, Kueng Lo, his children, and two of his grandsons as well as four he has not seen before.

Guy, why knock when you can just walk in? he asks.

I have two fledglings with me. May they come in? They do work for me.

Of course. Come in, all of you. When everyone is inside the house, Constantine closes the door. Then he takes them to the living room where April is.

    April, look who is here.

I am so glad you all came. She stands up and hugs all but Nathen, China, Jake, and Derek.

"Constantine, April, I want you to meet Jake and Derek Collins. Jake is my second in command and my fledgling. Derek
