About this ebook
Dear reader, Over the years, I have spent considerable time studying the language and the manuscripts of the New Testament. I also have been blessed with multiple opportunities to teach adult Sunday school. The one subject that was constantly in demand was the Lord's return. Adult believers have an insatiable appetite for an understanding of how this world age will end and any information about our Lord's return. The Bible books that we mostly studied were the book written by Daniel the prophet and the Apostle John's book called Revelation. One of my philosophies regarding the scriptures is that we must allow the scriptures to speak. We often come to the Bible with preconceived ideas and try to force the scriptures to say what we think they should say. This is unacceptable! The Watchman's Handbook was written after years of personal study and prayerful reflection for greater spiritual understanding. May the words of the handbook stir your heart and help you to gain a closer relationship with our loving God. When I was about five years old, my mother told me, "Someday, God is coming back. When He comes, He is going to take us up into the air to meet Him in the sky." Wow! That was quite a declaration to a small child. When I was out of doors, I would look up into the sky and think to myself, When is God coming back for us? I am almost seventy years old and I am still looking up. I hope you are watching for our Lord's return as well. Your old friend in Christ, Jack Binner

The Watchmen’s Handbook
Several times in the New Testament, we believers in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ are encouraged by our Lord and others to be watchmen. For instance in Luke’s gospel, our Lord said, Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when He comes shall find watching.
The Lord goes on to promise these watchmen that when He comes, He will make them sit down, and He will serve them meat (Luke 12:37). In Mark’s gospel, our Lord promised, For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left His house, and gave authority to His servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch therefore: for you know not when the master of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly, He finds you sleeping,
(Mark 13:34–36).
The Apostle Paul wrote in his first letter to the church at Thessalonica, Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober,
(1 Thess. 5: 6). In this context, Paul was admonishing believers to be watching for the day of the Lord. We will consider the day of the Lord in detail in this guide. Finally, in the book of Revelation, our Lord warned, Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame,
(Rev. 16:15).
When I was about five years old, my mother told me, Someday, God is coming back. When He comes, He is going to take us up into the air to meet Him in the sky.
Wow! That was quite a declaration to a small child. When I was out of doors, I would look up into the sky and think to myself, When is God coming back for us? I never stopped looking up. I am now getting close to being seventy years old, and I am still looking up. I hope you are also looking up.
In our world today, we are becoming overpopulated with unbelieving people. Our world is in serious trouble. The nations around Israel are mostly kingdom nations. Some of these nations have differing religious beliefs, and they cannot seem to get along with one another. North Korea keeps launching missiles and testing nuclear bombs. America is overpopulated with liberals. They empower lazy people to live off government welfare programs. They are spending our nation into financial oblivion. Many people in our world today are not looking up for the return of the Savior. I hope you are definitely not part of that crowd.
Without doing extensive Bible book studies, there are key verses in scriptures that paint a clear picture of the last seven years of this world age. I want to start with the Book of Daniel. God used Daniel to record amazing information about the climax of our current world age. The whole book of Daniel is profitable; but I want to focus on particular scriptures that paint the picture we need to know as watchmen. Thus, we will also do this with other prophetic portions that relate to our subject matter. Daniel was beloved of God, and he was the only Old Testament prophet that was given a total view of the world from his day until the time of the end.
Before we begin in Daniel, I wish to show you something the angel told Daniel near the end of his book. As Daniel spoke to the angel, he was confused, and he asked the angel, What shall be the end of these things? And he (the angel) said, go your way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand,
(Dan. 12:8–10).
What the angel just told Daniel was, at the time of the end of this world age, the wise people (those born anew with God’s Spirit) will recognize the signs of the times. Spirit-indwelt people will see the end coming and know that Messiah will soon
